Lock Q&A Threads when Solved (Full Version)

Since some Q&A Threads sometimes turn into a discussion, which we know its not allowed. I suggest AKs should lock the threads and label the title and post as Solved. That way, they can be more strict to see if someone's question has been answered and they replied, thank you.

For example:

Title: How to join a room? [Solved]


AKs can post:

[Solved]

AK's mostly lock the thread whenever it turns too much into a discussion, or when other answerers begin to repeat the others. I believe an acceptable amount of posters is about 3-4, or whenever the OP is happy with the answer, before it gets repetitive and/or a discussion. Otherwise they'll leave it as it is.

If the OP is happy with the answer and replied. Then the AK should most likely close it as Solved. Because other members would just then post there just to post.

If you begin locking every thread that has been answered, you will get a forum filled with locked threads. It is true that it would help curb discussion and further rule-breaking, but moderation is a means to foster a friendly, welcoming environment anyways. Over-moderation would be counter-productive to that end.

Also locking threads when completed creates more work for the moderation team. And a questioner may be satisfied with unknowingly incorrect information, and locking the thread stops corrections and makes such incorrect information seem true to others. Thirdly when it come to more opinionated questions, like "which weapon is best" additional opinion answers after the post is satisfied may be of use to others with similar questions.

Another issue that this would create is that the OP is free to ask another question in the same thread once the original one has been answered. So by locking threads we deem have been answered would in turn result in people making more new threads which require more locking and the cycle goes on and on. So I don't think it's a good idea to do so as it will only burden the forum staff further for little gain.

Ok, I understand it would be over-protective. I can deal with that. Still some members would cause a problem ignoring the regulation. Of course you already know what to do with them. But I just wanted to suggest to mostly specific questions which will make sure it won't turn into a discussion. Giving a reminder would also help.
Well as for a thread with opinions, maybe when the person finally decides to choose and replies.

If a question has been answered properly, and someone insists to post in it again, the following can happen.

If it is a necro-bump, the post will be deleted and the poster contacted.
If the information is irrelevant, a discussion, spam, etc... the same will happen.
If it is not a necro-bump, and the information is usefull to the OP, it will be left alone.

And locking every thread after being answered would give more work rather then doing the above in case something happens.

And it indeed happens that the OP asks another question around the same topic, keeping it in 1 thread makes things easier for the OP and for everyone else.
Hijacking is still not alowed though, if you have a question yourself and are not the OP, posting a question in another thread is hijacking and will be dealt with accordingly.

What if the OP could self-tag their question, and when the OP decides to tag their thread for completion, an automated function to lock the thread goes in place?

So essentially, the OP has the ability to self-lock a debated and answered question, leaving staff to only deal with disruptions in the rules or other question unrelated post content.

This has been suggested before -- unfortunately, forum moderation powers can't be limited to a single thread, so it isn't possible to give the thread starter the power to lock his own thread. Also, The Game's point of making the forum a friendly, welcoming place is a relevant consideration as well.
