Stabilis -> You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 14:12:52)

Who were you when you started EpicDuel, and who are you today? Name some changes between your old self and your current self. History and personality are welcome.

When I begun my career in EpicDuel, I was just a quiet player and aimed goals like level cap only in my self-interest. I joined EpicDuel because of Artix Entertainment, but also because I saw the glorious label of Beta Testing and permanent-rare promotions. So yeah, I was pulled in by lust. I started EpicDuel as your average underdog who fought PvP in the shadows of my enemies and superiors. I was all to myself and only sworn to become level cap so that I could become idolized by newer players. Joke was on me though, I had NO idea that this gane already had a founder's testing era and that I was only a rookie to most people. There were many eras in PvP itself. When I was in my 20s and fighting, everyone was using heal-loop and Support Mercenaries. I was shocked, but determined to use my own builds. I developed an UU playstyle, always using the opposite build of what most players had used. When there were Smokescreen Stun Grenade Bounty Hunters, I was an Energy Shield, Reflex Boost, Venom Strike Bounty Hunter. Thank God for my Beta equipment, without using the most powerful skills, I needed them just to survive. I had a 2:1 ratio for most of my career (and still do), and eventually switched to a Tech Mage class at level 30 with class change. Favourite... class... evar! I joined some faction by some dude named Alpha Dawg or Alpha Testa (whatever), but he was inactive. I was recruited by an active free-2-play Mercenary. We became good friends. One day we decided to bust out of this faction founder's group and make a new name for ourselves. I bought the faction and made my buddy my right-hand man. We got as far as level 8 or 7 and then school activities struck. I became inactive for awhile and when I came back he was inactive for awhile too. I waited months for my friend to reunite, but never did. I eventually destroyed my faction out of hopelessness and removed all traces of our existence including my name that I also changed. I started as a neutrally good guy but I became a jack ass when I was level cap and for awhile at levels 30-31. I think it was because free-2-play called me a money snob or varium loser, and because some level caps called me a failure for not having many wins or not using overpowered or common builds. Eventually I got over my personal problems, improved as a person, and could chat with everyone at Oz's without being ridiculed. I joined the forums after the house updates and during the Gamma phase. I just became more aware as a player but my current attitude changed little. That's my story and me, thank you for reading, and I hope to get to know you too!

Oba -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 14:26:43)

Its pretty hard for me to remember how I was once I started to play EpicDuel. A thing I know for sure is that my english have improved alot since I began with ED. I've been playing AE games for... ya, around 7 years.. In the other games, AQW mainly, I only spoke to my Swedish friends, but on ED the swedish people are rare, so I had to evolve and speak english instead :3

Digital X -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 14:38:55)

Gather round, it's story time! :)

Started in June, 2009, and was very excited for trying this out (Thought it was a new game at the time, then realised it was a merge). I started as a Merc from level 1-32 all non Varium, all the way. Enjoying every minute of it even though i was alone, hardly anybody in my Buddy List and if they were they were seldom on. But playing the game alone did not phase me out, or make me too concerned about what i was supposed to do, and learned fairly quickly about stats, resistance and defence and which weapon would be better for me than another. However the difference between Physical and Energy weapons, and Res and Def i did not understand, as well as which type of damage would do more against my opponent, so i willingly carried on as i would thinking it was fine. A little later into the game i considered purchasing Varium as it was my first time upgrading i was looking really forward to it but did give it some hard, long thought beforehand to try and see the benefits it gave.

Then nearing level 32 i got enough to buy Varium and the time it took me to consider buying Gamma Bot was fairly long (but thanks to a certain someone who enticed me to buy it, i went along with it. You know who you are ;) ) And I've enjoyed it ever more ever since. I had better stats with new gear, more options available for attacking and as a whole i thought much more of the game and was more intrigued to see what else there was i could do. Finally hit level 34 in the end and nearing the end of Gamma i was well aware of almost everything so i could plan my battles better prior to making the next move.

But now, I'm much more socially active in-game, with a glowing and more than friendly buddy list and all together a much nicer, much more enjoyable experience.

Ranloth -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 14:40:43)

I must say, joining AE Community back in 2005 (AQ) was probably the point where I started to slowly pick up on English. I joined the Forum a bit later which further improved my English but also gave me a new meaning of life as a kid - after moving to foreign country, it's hard to make friends for a while without knowledge of the language. xP
I joined ED when Founder was around so I bought my package back then, with completely different name as well. I was mostly a noob back then, but Beta weapons were sure good as I was Lvl 25 when I bought the package and had most out if it! :P I actually have started off as a Bounty Hunter, only when Class Change was released, I went TM because I liked the class as it seemed good when fighting it in PvP so why not. Then it was TLM era so I went along with it after a while for about 2-3 months, then I had to change back to TM because being OP sucked and took the fun out of the game for me..
Factions were a funny one, I joined one and next day I was already kicked out. I only joined proper faction when I came back last year, had my own as well but that one also failed so I mostly had downs rather than ups.

It's funny to watch the game evolve after all that time, it has the good and bad sides to it but you cannot please everyone. But seeing recent changes (new Artist too!) and new Mods&Testers, we're sure going to see better ED as the time passes. :3

Clutch -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 15:53:19)

Oh boy looking back i've changed quite a lot.

I started playing in December 2009 as a bounty hunter. I was a non-varium bounty hunter all the way to lvl 29 where I decided to get the Founder Armor because I've learned to regret not becoming a founder in previous games ;). At first, I was a solid 80% player, about 4 wins and 1 loss, and I thought my record looked beast! (Until I met players like Dax and Angels :P) I was always very friendly, and in the beta phase, the game had sort of an elite group of founders that would always fight each other. So it came to a point where I knew everybody and everybody knew me. As far as the build went, I was a classic BH, high str, max smoke, and 1 massacre. I've made tons of friends since then that I still keep in touch with, many of whom you see on the all-time leader boards today. Since then i've mostly stayed true to BH, even through the dreaded heal looping mage days, the tank mercenary days, and the str TLM phase. Just recently I decided to go try BH's evolved form, CH. I've enjoyed it greatly but my true class is and always will be BH. As far as strategy, I feel that I have experience in this game that really helps in battle, whether it be what the opponents rage bar is to knowing exactly what strategy my opponent plans on using to win. This helps me counter that strategy and make a superior build. I realized that defense is the best offense and with that mindset I changed from an 80% player to a 95% winning player.

DestruRaGe -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 16:01:09)

At start I didnt know how to play of course xD. I made merc(it sucked), I made bh(it kinda sucked), I made another merc(I was okey then), and finally I made TM and BH xD.
I played with them both in the same time. I stopped playin bounty on lv 30, I wasnt really good with it. BUT I had a nice score on TM, I was playin really nice so TM become TLM and
finally Cyber. So today Im making YT videos mainly pvp themed. I made new TM and its my secondary char. Also I made blood mage but I hate it. All of that was non-var. Now my
main char is tlm and it has some varium. Nowadays every day I pwn n00bs or I lose to them cause of unfairness ;)

frogbones -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 16:05:49)

All I can say is,

I wish Shaniqua still played.

Death Gigas -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 17:10:56)

I remember when I started EpicDuel like it was yesterday. When I started I found it to be a bit tough to win at first until I got use to how it worked.I spent from level 1-34 as a form of Mercenary, but I changed to Cyber Hunter a while back. When I joined it was a fun experience for me, but now I have over 35,000 wins and I'm not the little noob I was when I joined.

Shadronica -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 17:20:09)

No difference between when I joined up to today. I am still a noob. [8D]

Yes frogbones it would be wonderful if we still had Shani. Acutally Morrigan and Sha 2nd Mage were my mentors when I started and I am grateful to both of them.

Darkoake445 -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 17:24:28)

I had my own faction, it was called Fallout. That's the only difference besides my class and the fact that I buy varium now.

Wootz -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 17:40:45)

Lets see:

One day before Alpha testing, AQWorlds membership rans out. Later, when free players got allowed to play in early Beta. Made an account, got it to level 27, screwed up with retrain. Made another account, got it to level 27, screwed up with retrain. Now loop that a few times with different levels. (Atleast I've got two accounts with Beta tester ^^)
In Gamma, I made my current account and still play on it and hopefully won't destroy it with other characters.

Thats my history of me from noob to semi-good-nearly-pro-person.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 20:55:25)

I think two screen shots can sum up how very little I have changed in epicduel.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 23:39:42)

@One Winged Angel1357

LOL, The time you spend on forum, if you spent that same time on the game, you could actually be a competition for comicalbiker :P (or at least level 34)

Mr. Black OP -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/3/2012 23:44:11)

When I joined I started with as a bounty hunter with a small winning streak, I got 4 or 5 kills then lost a challenge fight. I made my first friend (he went inactive that day then came on for 1 day months later). Later on I met 3 players, they wanted to be the best in ED (ironically they went inactive before reaching level 30), one made a faction and I quickly became top officer. I then met Snake King and I later joined Lords at Level 26-28. I got my founder armor, hit level cap, then joined DSX because I was kicked for inactivity, I joined for achievements went inactive in a few weeks after that. When I came back I became a strength BH (during the time when GL was released) rejoined DSX, after a while I went inactive again. I came back near the end of gamma, became an all time juggernaut (4th place but no longer on it) went inactive. Came back and here I am now, a level 34 cyber hunter with over 17k wins.

Midnightsoul -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 1:08:46)

I used to be a bounty hunter named SHADOW997. I was very curious of the game after the ED advertisement kept on annoying me in the AQW home page xD. I was a fully equipped noob and I stayed as one, even when I got the mind of a pro so I was stuck in a bad cycle :(. Until lvl 31 after I got varium the first time after I gathered enough credits patiently. Yes, people trashed me, but I kept going. I fought as a well known semi-varium BH until Delta. I became a cyber hunter as fast as I can and changed my name into Midnightsoul because I didn't feel SHADOW997 suited me anymore. I changed to blood mage and I loved it just as much as cyber hunter. I tried TLM which I performed just as well, but it didn't really make me feel so interested. I decided to go back as a CH and decided to create theCyberUnion after experiencing all the new classes and knowing all their actions so I wanted to help cybers...though I am currently a blood mage again...could I, the leader, become a rogue and create a BloodyClan??? or would I return without leaving a mess behind???

Mdmarvel -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 1:27:09)

The past.....
Character Creation:
Well firstly, I found out about this game while playing AQW (or was it DF o_O), it was during the time of the merger and I was gonna read some DNs for that game then I saw "EpicDuel New PvP bla bla bla" At first, I thought it was the long awaited PvP mode in AQW but when I clicked it, I realized it was a new game! I spent a dam long time choosing, designing and naming my character. Usually I pick the warrior-type or dmg dealer/tank type class in ANY game but ED had different names for them and I didn't know which one was warrior-type so I just picked the class that sounded dam good to me so I picked BH [:D] Sad thing is, I made my acc before founder stuff was released [&:] but I didn't know about the achievements so I didn't pick up the dam beta achievement [:@]
My Initial Gaming and my Equips:
I remember making some friends that was the same lvl as me at that time, mostly from 2v2 fights and low lvls like me. I didn't know the difference between physical and energy weps so I didn't care what I bought and how much it cost, I only looked at the dmg of the wep, nothing else, not even the stats. I used the default light blades till I got logan's wrath and it was then my long-term blades. It also helped me to get the only available non var aux at that time, the silenced launcher(long-term aux) and the hurricane gun(long-term gun)
Past goal/s:
My goal back then was to get the best non var armor (for me it was space pirate and I didn't pick it because of stats, I picked it because it looks better than stealth suit) and with that I succeeded. After I regained enough credits, I then decided to buy a new and stronger blade (and by stronger I meant high dmg and whatever the stats), the energy saw. And my next goal was to get the royal cleavers (due to its high dmg and oh-so-good art) where I failed to get creds to buy it before I got bored of the game.
The Supp Revolution, my past build and my Exile:
When I got what I wanted (excluding the royal cleavers), things were a little tough due to the rise of the FC/supp mercs who packed a punched plus they had the older (and imo better)hybrid armor which combined with their strength rendered 1v1 and some 2v2 fights hopeless. The build I used back then was..... out of place compared to the builds today. I followed what the other BHs did, had high/max stun grenade and multi-shot. (2v2 build) I also had 1 massacre in there because it looked cool xD and even then, I can't remember if my energy fitted all those energy costs of the skills. I got to lvl 26, and no var, due to boredom kicking in and new stuff in my other games, I decided to leave for a while which turned out to be a DAM LONG time.
The Return: Years later (just this year I think O_O), I remembered this game and decided to come back... and this time, I thought things out. I read guides in the forums and quickly learned the stat's importance. Amazingly, I had about 6-8k unused creds that I saved up seemingly for royal cleavers in the past which allowed me to change my blade for a better and updated one. I bought the emperor's blades with the creds I have and sold energy saws. I also changed my skills/stats to a better one to start off things. Max SA and Bloodlust, the rest in smoke. My gun, aux and armor actually lasted for a longer time as I used it to grind NPCs from lvl 26-30/32. Eventually, I looted a rusted but better gun to temporarily replace my current gun. After all that hourly grinding everyday, I had about 70k up creds and I didn't even thought of changing class. I decided to buy all I need, stop grinding NPCs and actually fight players.
Current Me:
Now I have good weps, have enh and a good understanding about all the stuff in-game. I'm battle ready again and pwn for my faction!

Ok..... why the hell did I write a journal entry o.o
TL;DR? =>
Past me: Picked weps for looks and dmg, didn't care for stats / Didn't understand the res/def and phy/ene stuff so not very combat effective
Present me: Picks weps that have high enough dmg and had the stats I need. Also knew the res/def and phy/ene stuff so I'm combat effective now xD

Necromantres -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 9:11:12)

Xenii -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 9:30:24)

I'm still pretty much the same when I joined epic duel, I've only been playing now for about 4 months. I started as a bounty hunter until I reached level 27, figured I would test my luck as a cyber hunter up until my current lvl(32). Having honestly in my opinion one of the greatest times playing as that character. From not knowing anyone in this game, I met a very friendly elf priest and she taught me a lot about this game, thanks. I hope in the near future I can expand my knowledge for this game it's characters and increase my buddy list.

rayniedays56 -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 10:46:34)

Well, here goes! :P I started as a Bounty Hunter who had NO CLUE what i was doing...

http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n496/rayniedays56/untitled.jpg (first screen shot I have ever made) ((sold all my good weapons and armor to get this armor LOL)

And then I turned into deadly Amber Rayne, the unique Cyber Hunter :)

Business has been good :)

SouL Prisoner -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 10:55:33)

Started 3 yrs ago.... Became founder......give up playing for a year and started another account and its almost 1 and half year, playing as soul ;)

ScarletReaper -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 11:13:34)

I started playing back in beta phase when those amazing beta weapons were available. I didn't get them though and have always regreted it. I made a lot of characters, but my first was a merc. Unfortunetly I experimented too much with him and wound up with no creds or weapons. So that character became useless. Then I made a bounty and a mage. Decided I liked mage better, but eventually I missed my merc, so I made a brand new one named ScarletReaper. :p A lot of time had gone by at this point and we were on to delta phase, which is where I got my first upgrade and became a tacmerc. After they were nerfed I became a cyberhunter, which I still am. And I enjoy it so far. I also created a new character called DarknesHunter who I play slightly more nowadays as I am trying to get it to level 30. Am only 400 exp away at the moment...So I can use my good varium gear. [8D]

fhiz -> RE: You When You Joined ED, and You Today (5/4/2012 16:39:06)

I was a noob then and I'm a noob now.

Started with a tech mage. I played for a day then gave up.

I came back and made a bounty hunter. I got a little varium, spent it on crap. Made the at the time lvl cap of 33.

Got bored with bounty so I leveled up my tech mage and made it support because that was what my bounty was losing to all the time.

Right at the tail end of gamma I made a Merc. I got it to lvl 6 then stopped.

Delta came out along with tact mercs. I rage quit.

About a month ago I said, "I wonder how epic duel's doing?" So I decided to play again. I went on my support tech mage and it was nerfed to the point of unusable. Went on my bounty, and realized it was never any good. That's when I saw a video on caster tech mages. I decided to make a new Tech mage. A non varium rendition of the caster I saw in the video. I hit the jackpot. I did amazingly well with it. Then they nerfed it. I was bummed out for about 5 minutes. Then I actually looked at the update and realized this nerf was in fact a buff. So I changed the build a bit and got an even better win % then before.

While I was leveling up my new Tech mage, I remembered I'd always wanted a strength merc. So I went back to my lvl 6 Merc and did pretty well with that too. I got it up to lvl 31, switched to tact merc and that is how my account stands today.
