RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (10/9/2013 15:30:11)

First of all, there is only one Mysterious Stranger in each timeline. Second, Kaley was talking about the Mysterious Necromancers a.k.a. The Order of the Mantle and not the Mysterious Stranger.

Prince Alteon -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (10/10/2013 16:38:11)

Way too confusing. The storyline is the reason why I left AQ. Too much time-hopping, visions of the past, new characters too often... I don't even know what is going on. Something to do with Wolfwing, I assume. I don't feel like searching for hours, rifling through random Q/A threads to grasp a small understanding of 1/100th of the actual story. Sadly, new releases usually involve me blowing by the text, skipping to the fight, and collecting my rewards these days (I've basically lost my urge to follow the story; AQW's is much easier to understand and more interesting to boot).

I'll stick to my side-quests.

Heartdragon -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (10/13/2013 21:26:19)

(I don't have anything to lose so....)

This is more like a questionnaire, but there it goes:

1) Does Galrick have elven ancestry? (I mean, he has pointy ears and is rather small compared to other characters...)
2) Is Celestra a human? If she is, why is her father an elf, and she's not half-elf at least?
3) While his build is admirable and all, doesn't Hollow have money to tailor himself a new shirt or, you know, replacements for it? (Membership in the Order doesn't pay well enough? :P )
4) If Absolix hadn't acted in the Absolix Falling quest, what would have his father done? /winks suggestively (?) at Falerin
5) Can someone give a definition on Realm* and on Plane**?
a- What "separates" them (the Void?) and what differentiates them (internal characteristics)?
b- Is there another term that is related to them?
c- How is possible for a Realm to be farther away than another?
e- Realm is a synonym of "universe"?
6) Also, what would the "alternate dimension" where Loco is be? Something akin to the above definitions? Or something else entirely?
7) This question was uncreated utterly.
8) The multiverse is solely composed by TDRs, Planes and universes/realms?
9) Existing outside of time, like the Elemental Lords, the Firstborn and, apparently, some Ancient Demon Lords in Tyranna's service do, means they exist outside of the multiverse? Or, in a "space" between universes, or a dimension, or something?
10) Lorithia is obviously not the creator of all worlds...
a- So is The'Galin able to uncreate worlds that are not under her 'jurisdiction'?
b- Does he have some kind of 'arrangement' with foreign Pantheons whose worlds are beyond salvation?
11) Demipowers still count as gods, right?
12) Are there other continents on Lore, other than Battleonia, the Middle Isles, Deren, Neld, and Vandar?
a- And why are the last three so small?***
b- They are continents separately, right? (Or they are the Maritime Provinces?)
13) Swordhaven existed in this Lore at some point, right? Did it play somekind of role in the Western Expanse war? ;)
14) Hypothetically speaking, if a being with free will entered into a volition-less universe:
a- Would it lose its free will and become a puppet?
b- Could it instill a revolution?
c- Or, similarly, a puppet from such an universe could gain free will?

I know that many of these questions cannot necessarily be answered by other players, so I would appreciate some enlightenment from a staff member where it's not spoilery. ;)

* Acclaration: Realm as in Lorian realm, Caelestian realm, Terran realm and, most importantly, Ethereal Realm and Realm of Darkness.
** Acclaration 2: a) as in, Plane of <insert element here>, b) Astral Plane, or c) the Caelestian Plane of Instability (which, may or may not be a 'misuse' of the term?).
*** They... bother me with their size. :/

EDIT: To explain myself better (that is, how I see it), I did a map of how I see an universe/multiverse/whatever (I apologize for the rudimentary quality of it, but I dont quite have my tablet with me now xD).

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn269/cons233333/universe-composition.png

NOTES: I don't particularly think of Caelestia as a planet, but it was easier to represent it that way. I also don't know where to put Heck, and I'll be grateful if someone tells me other realm names.
IMPORTANT: I apologize for the rudimentary quality of this picture, but I don't really have my tablet right now. [:D]

So, you admit that you don't read the quest dialogue....but are surprised you don't understand the storyline?

I'm sorry, but there's nothing that even the most talented of writers can do for you. You have to be willing and able to read the dialogue, or it'll never make sense.

guardian marc -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (10/18/2013 8:27:24)

Hi Lord Barrius! Some questions regarding shadows!
What is the difference between Ultimon's shadow creatures and the ones Seekrat unleashed? (Except the red eyes[:D] )
Are Navith and his race The Forgotten considered "true" shadows in the eyes of Ultimon?
Do their almost extinction/Exile to The Tree of Kings have something to do with the Shadow World having multiple layers?

Regards and thanks in advance
Marc

Heroes of the Scape -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (10/18/2013 15:48:46)

Ultimon's Shadow Monsters were made by corrupting "false" shadow creatures that were already on Lore. For example, the Exodus monsters were brought here during the Devourer Saga but were not a part of the Shadow Universe. While those that the Seekrat unleashed are shadow versions of monsters that are on Lore. Basic allay the shadow version of that monster. IIRC when we kill a shadow monster from the Shadow Universe, (The ones Seekrat released) we are also killing the real one on Lore. When we kill the ones Ultimon corrupted it is just the one monster that is affected.

Elryn -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (11/27/2013 20:14:21)

Reviving this thread as it adequately serves the purpose of the lore clarification that is needed here.

quote:

Undead don't die though. They are held 'alive' by the magic of their Necromancer controller. When that magic is broken, either through the defeating the undead, or their controller they 'die' again. They are simply bones reanimated through magic and once that magic is broken they become what they were before. Dead.

That definition would at best, and only partly, apply to the Undead Artix and Halenro rose up to fight against in the years Battleon was a smaller settlement, besieged and occupied at the time with the armies of the Mysterious Necromancer.

Otherwise, your Lorian Undead lore is lacking. The Hadeni would have a word with you.

An Undead by definition is a being of Necrotic nature as opposed to the Biotic nature of your traditional living being and Kabroz/many Lorian Zombies. Both Biotic lifeforms and Necrotic lifeforms are just that, living. What distinguishes them is the anima that animates them and whether or not that anima is weak or strong.

The Undead you refer to are alive. They are living beings of weak, negative anima. They can, or rather could, be created and manipulated by Necromancers, just as these may influence strong negative anima beings, but they can just as well exist and live without being under the thrall of a Necromancer. Cagliari Lux is one such being as well the Undead he led.

Veral77 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/1/2013 15:30:46)

Do Hadeni even count as undead? Aren't they something called necrotic life?

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 12:07:24)

Not really. Calling a Hadeni undead would be like calling a regular human a golem.

Falerin -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 13:00:57)

True. And yet Hadeni have been looked at by Paladins and the like and been so classified, as undead, repeatedly.

And Cagliari, who Categorically is an Undead, and Delnar (Cerin's predecessor; also categorically undead) would likewise disagree with the basic assumption.

Elryn -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 13:05:22)

It all depends on how one terms and defines Undead. The Hadeni are as much Undead as the classical Undead only in the way that they are Necrotic lifeforms and of negative anima. An undead Hadeni on the other hand is something quite peculiar.

RedEyedDrake -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 13:08:17)

So, a nega-zombie then? Or did you refer to a Hadeni that was reanimated using positive anima?

Elryn -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 13:11:17)

The latter.

While I can hardly agree with Prince Alteon's relative regard for AQW storylines, I think that it is true that AQ's storyline is very messy. It's a lot like DC and Marvel - various arcs that have limited connection with each other. And with each new major villain and his arc, there comes new concepts that can be somewhat confusing in their detail. My view of an ideal AE storyline style is Dragonfable's - it is far more cohesive, comprehensible and compelling. AQ's storyline style does allow for greater diversity, but I have never truly identified with it, save for rare and particular moments like Nightbane's death and Erebus's defeat. When even random filler villains like Mardar attempt to and even occasionally come close to destroying/dominating the world, it's hard to feel that much more threatened by the more major villains.

Veral77 -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (12/2/2013 15:08:38)

Well, true undead don't age, by nature of being undead. They may decay if they don't feed, but that is more akin to starvation than aging. Necrotic life, like the Hadeni, should still age regardless of feeding habits, by nature of being life. However, no one has mentioned how.

TheMother -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/5/2016 0:59:25)

In '' A Rose by any Other Name '' MS said that there is more than 1 strangers. This is true?

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (5/5/2016 3:01:14)

Yes. It's a nod to other timelines' Mysterious Strangers.

Ludhus -> RE: Storyline Questions (Spoiler Alert, obviously) (7/23/2018 20:46:45)

Is there any image of Water Lord/Melaris/Calera? I cant find in wikia or here. D:
