I personally think that people who use F5 should be penalize heavier. Why?
Now this is just me speaking but I will never run from a fight even though there
is a good chance I will. I have a strong distaste for that. That is one of the major reasons
why I hardly ever do 2v2 and I really dislike it in a 1v1. I know some will say we you get an
easy win, for me that is not enough. I prefer the fight, because I learn more from my losses
than I do from my wins. I suggest that if a person decides to F5 and waste my time then
for that penalize them with 5 losses or wins either or is fine with me.
I know some of you are trying to go up the leader board that is fine, not my bag but if you
should run into me just be prepared to fight a long battle. I will heal evry chance I get
and I have two booster.

Well I hate people who uses boosters and I think they should get punished since they waste my time [:-]

On-topic tho... never understood why people run from battles. I've done it a few times in 1vs1 though, but that have been a Rage quit/close browser and leave the PC angry... [:)]

How do you know that they leave on purpose? They could have lost connection or maybe they had better things to do than play a browser game?
And like Oba said by you healing every chance you get and using boosters even if you know you can't win you are wasting that persons time.
What is up with people these days...

I always try to fight to win and never give a person an easy win with out earning it.
I have sometime fought a person three times in a row and loss all three, but each
time through I would try some thing different. That how I come up with a plan of action.

We would need a third coder to implement upgrades to the chat filter. Titan or Rabblefroth can do it... but... until they have no other updates planned, upgrading the chat filter could potentially replace a full-scale weekly update. So unless the player-base is cool with missing a week's update (you will say sure I've been through months of those "I don't care", but you'll still be bitter I guarantee that [8D]), chat filter implementation on a full-scale basis is currently unlikely. However, you can say that your safety while playing EpicDuel has been compromised by the material spoken by others, prompting Titan to switch his focus to the chat filter (because your security is a priority am I right?). But don't lie just to make him do what you want. [:D]

I would have "F5" as a blocked word and give chat locks to any person who enters that.

Chat locks for such a thing is kinda harsh. I've used "F5" in just normal conversations with friends, and I dont wanna get chat locked for that [:(]

This is game Ease, epicduel should be more like a hobby to you, not something you need to play 24/7 wasting peoples time
in fights because you don't care whether that other person had things to do and you're just stalling that person from doing them.

Harsh, yes. Yet, I would prefer that we minimize the sharing of malicious phrases including slang. Chat blocking is one way of doing it. [:D]

Would you rather, hear people cursing for every second word they entered, or, get to the point and not have to hear people enter malicious stuff (f5) and slang?

who uses F5 anyway? to most gamers it is the button of death, never to be touched, or even looked at.

when I run I refresh the browser, close the browser or change servers.

@ Shyteria first of because the player told me so, very seldom will I post or make a statement that I can not back up.
Second I dont play 24/7 you should not assume unless you have facts. So let me give you some I am a single parent
and I work 10 plus hours a day.
Third it is a hobby I do enjoy playing the game, now I hope you are finish with the ignorant statements, now let me make this clear
to you and Oba healing is a part of life and in this game. It is there to be used I go into every fight with the mindset of trying to win
if the person is perceived to be stronger than me, I then try making it as long as possible that way if the other person makes a mistake
I can try a turn a bad situation into a good one.
Now do I care about the other person no!!!!! Unappologetically this is a game so if they have something better to do then they need
to go do it. Stalling to gain the upper hand is wise and prudent, my character is not design for quick kills. We are going to have to agree
to disagree.

Thanks for the update on your life that i didn't ask nor care for. Plus I find it weird that you work 10 hours a day and your a single
parent yet you still have enough time to play epicduel and apparently make every battle you do last as long as you can make it.

10 hours work, 6-8 hours sleep.

8-10 hours left.

1 hour taken by travel and changing clothes. 1 hour from hygienics. 1-2 hours from food. 4-6 hours left to recreation.

I know you did not need the update but I saw it necessary from your comments which you are making another ignorant statement.
So either you are a child with plenty of time on hand, but if you do then you are not in school, that will not get you far in life,
or an adult with no job since you find it strange someone would work 10 hours. You do not have to answer, your statements
says it all. If I am to extrapolate from your comments a person who is a single parent can not play video games and still
handle their responsibilities you make me laugh and as for the battles they last as long as it needs to for me to win.

I speak plainly and very frank if you have a problem with me playing then say so, but I think you are like most people today
easily bruised and narrowed minded, but hay I have already took that into account. Have a great day. :-)

@ez ease: joining the rat race doesn't mean you are going far in life. if anything it is the biggest waste of a persons life bar suicide.
unless of course you have brought a child into this world, then you get a pass cause raising them is top priority.

I doubt you have kids though from your last comment. they are amazing but also exhausting on a daily basis and playing games
in your spare time is literally the only escapism many parents have available to them, and trust me, you need some escapism to
keep your sanity intact.

I always laugh when other gamers play the life card. life is what you make it.

@PivotalDisorder You are right about suicide is the biggest waste of life one suicide is to many,
but the bigger problem is when those especially men get to that point where they feel overwhelm
need to learn that it is okay to ask for help no one gave birth to themselves and no one raised
themselve we all need help from time to time. The fact someone decides to give up on life and their family
that is the part that is cowardice it still takes some guts to pull the trigger. Which is the prefered choice for men,
woman it is poison.

When I was married my kids would be in this pecking order God first, my Wife second and my Kids third.
Yes Kids are a blessing my daughter has blessed me by helping others and my son by the music he plays
all those piano and cello lesson did not go to waist. Yes playing game in your spare time is an out.

I believe you were talking to Shyteria when you mention that you doubt he or she has kids.
Like I said just as my faction is named Without Wax I just am real and like to keep it that way,
do I tell the truth all the time no, but I do believe the best lie is the truth because human nature is to disbelive

To answer your question when it comes to life issues then I would have to give my life first for both of them.
Now in the rare occassion if I had to choose it would be to save my kids and my wife would want it that way.
Yes that is a bit off target but that was there for anyone to ask.

All in All I like this game it is fun and I enjoy reading some of the post from the veteran players, maybe one
day I will go with a quick kill build and spend a day trying to get to the top............ nah that is not who I am.
I fight no more than 30 or more people a day so I doubt I will ever get that chevo.

That's what boosters are for. Not for necessarily wasting your time, but letting them survive longer. No one should be theoretically punished for anything.

Uh to get back to your original discussion topic... Seeing players leaving fights is annoying, no matter what side you are on. But what really can be done about it? If you implement a punishment as you suggested, you will also punish those that have a bad connection (and yes before anyone asks, those people are entitled to play the game).

In terms of the chat blocking solution... I don't think that is the problem. In the late game people are well aware of what refreshes their browser, and I have never heard a lvl 30+ say F5. The problem is people leaving because the think they will lose, or for a slew of other rather cowardly reasons. Now I say cowardly lightly, since it is just a game after all and there is nothing in the rules against intentionally leaving.

So my next question is, should it be a reportable offense for people to leave? There would have to be evidence of course that they actually left on purpose, perhaps if they said something before they leave.

Another proposal I wanted to pose here before (if) I do so formally, is a pop-up window that gives players a clue as to if a player lost connectivity or they left on their own free will. This may create a bit of peer pressure in the community against leaving battles intentionally.

I did end up disconnecting on purpose a few times yesterday. One was a match where I was with a level 31 non-varium merc. He had no bot and he went afk after the first turn. He didn't bother to heal etc. so I told everyone else that I was leaving if I'm with a partner like this. I didn't like the fact that my partner was in the middle of playing a game and decides to go AFK when each battle takes a maximum of 5 minutes. It's FIVE minutes. If you can't stay at the computer for 5 minutes, don't bother playing!

Best way to get rid of the F5 things is to programe something for F5, like, if some one presses F5 , it should post automatically saying..."You cannot flee/run from a battle" or "Don't be a NOOB, just try your best to win this ;)

This is a good idea. Also, why not implement a pop-out like in MQ and AQ that says "Are you sure you want to leave the game?" button to stop accidental F5 mishaps.
