They should make a rule for making forumers write in a proper grammar, it is annoying for me to see people that write and you can't barely understand what they are writing or even saying. For the benefit of the community and of the forumers itself, I request and suggest a rule that makes forumer write in a correct grammar, some typos can be accepted but a severe lack of proper grammar would lead to delete the comment itself. I think this would make a better enviroment for our community and avoid misunderstandings within posts.

Please see this thread for previous discussion on the matter.

This has been suggested before.

It just penalizes people Non-Anglophones. English is one of the most absurd (if not THE most ridiculous). I myself know 4 languages (fluently). Believe me when I say that being understandable in English is no easy feat. You're asking for a lot, plus it's rather hard to enforce.

I'm not asking for a perfect english, but rather have a medium english knowledge, spelling errors can happen but atrocious and in porporsed errors like this should lead to deletion, let me provide you with examples and posts that makes no sense at all.

if u hav old acc why do u ask about level 30 weapons?
old weapon is still same...r u sure ur canibal? or r u using his acc? becus ur ask
like ur a noob and not know anyting about epicduel...

dis war is start jus like bio saga. sigh...
do misions, get 100 credits and alien robot tell story...lol no sense...

quote:

and then, der is many kragors and agen no sense.
He is there, sell bots and no more. i mean how he is in many place and in map, island is awey from
each other and kragor is swiming and den diging?

Shameful posts made by one single forumer, don't you think comments like these should be deleted? I could approve spelling errors but grammar like this just make me want to teach him english.

I'm not trying to be malicious in pointing out your errors; I'm just making the point that everyone makes mistakes. Also, as for deleting comments that are illegible due to their orthography and/or grammar, Stray Cat's first post in the thread I linked addressed this:

quote:

If someone's posts are indecipherable, they'll probably either be asked to improve their clarity or have their posts deleted since unreadable equals pointless and pointless equals spam.

DeathGuard -> RE: Grammar (5/13/2012 22:34:30)

I know that but they could not make them write in a proper way, this rule wouldn't be so bad, my point is that they should know that "this" isn't written as "dis" and so on, at least try to make an effort on their posts.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Grammar (5/13/2012 22:37:26)

The Guide to Proper Forum Etiquette already advises forumites to use abbreviations ("dis" vs. "this") in moderation, correct spelling, and good grammar. A rule would be impossible to enforce, not to mention ridiculous at times in the arbitration that could possibly be necessitated. I urge you to read the points brought up in the previously linked thread, as we seem to be reiterating those points.

Seahawk -> RE: Grammar (5/14/2012 1:31:25)

I would very much doubt that there would ever be a grammar requirement for the forums. I can rattle of a bunch of reasons why (many of which have already been mentioned above), but what it basically boils down to is that we'd be doing a lot of extra work to moderate a bunch of otherwise harmless posts and warning people for trivial mistakes. Think about it: as much as bad grammar might make you cringe, would you really want to be a member on a forum where you could get banned because you misspell a few too many words, or end a sentence in a preposition one to many times?

As has been said, we have people our forums from a wide band of ages, and from several nationalities (not all of whom speak English as a first language)... singling out any of them for possibly not meeting an arbitrary standard of grammar is impractical and unfair.

Remington -> RE: Grammar (5/22/2012 12:37:46)

The problem is not simple mistakes like forgetting an apostrophe or incorrect spelling. The problem is unintelligible run-on sentences. This can be moderated reasonably, but the moderators are too busy looking for "suggestion" threads to lock or delete. The atrocious grammar is becoming malicious to the community. Who want's to go onto a forum where you can't read anything because the grammar is so bad.
