Vampiric Prince -> The butterfly in the smoke. (5/15/2012 21:43:38)

Have you ever been to a 1v1 or 2v2 match where amid all the confusion with builds, you come across a player that truly has a unique build which made the match more pleasurable/ entertaining or even frustrating? This has happened to me on a number of occasions, in these situations I don't care whether I win or lose because the match somehow felt special and different to every other old boring tech or str abuse match. I had a super long break from epicduel, probably 8 months or so and noticed when I came back that my shadow guard physical just doesn't suffice any longer so I obviously forked out the dough for my first 10 k pack and have noticed that matches are a breeze now. One thing that saddens me though is that it's the same trend, but now it's rise of the tech mages. Poor old tac mercs, I now rip through them like I do with those players that have default equipment without an aux. I actually feel for the player base as a whole. All I see in my favourite mode (1v1) is people with abuse builds trying to keep up with the game and trying to remain in the flow of things while maintaining a respectful record. It's scary, one plus side though is I see non variums can finally compete, specifically bounties which used to have 2 non rare claws available in game with horrendous stats to boot.

Other than the fact that everything now seems standardized, things don't look too shabby. I would just like some varieties in builds, careful now- don't want to turn this thread into a suggestion XD So discuss if you've discovered a butterfly in the smoke? Is the butterfly yourself perhaps?

One last note on the tac mercs, that poison grenade build is now rubbish and will surely get them killed off in 1v1 which I find kinda hilarious, anyone else concur? They used to be like top dogs but these new tech mages are ridiculous, the ones with the supercharge builds. There's no point to even plot a strategy against one.

I have always been a butterfly in the smoke. Being a butterfly is like a second skin. I am seriously Hipster.

Gin: "But sir, why a butterfly?"

Butterly Aizen: "Who would ever suspect... a butterfly?! Wahahahhahaahahaaaa!!!"

I love Support Mercs/TLMs. They are so unique and fun to battle :)

I Totally Agree With This

But The Only Thing Is I Dont Find Any Supercharge Builds These Days [:(]

@liy. Supp tac mercs in 2v2 on my team= fun and vice versa= not very fun X)

@ I like bounty. Oh I find them... All too often. They're very powerful especially with their high hp and deadly aim.

Midnightsoul -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/15/2012 22:51:02)

tac merc needs a slight buff to offenses...and azrael bot needs a nerf

I try to be the butterfly in the smoke...it is especially fun to watch how ur build progresses as u use an unique build

Khannibal -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 4:15:22)

I agree, I've played against a few players of late who've really stood out, and at times like these where there's more bandwaggoning than a 50's western, it's players like these who remind us how important individuality is in a game of testing your own skills against others.

I saw a player the other day called Bruce ..., I know the rest of his name but staff are a bit tight on specific player discussion, and he had a mercenary build that was absolutely brilliant. I feel like the best players using builds tend to look good too, rather than a blur of pixels, they're well customized too.

@Void

Good old Bleach :D

Wootz -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 5:58:18)

Heh, I think I am the butterfly.

I never use the "flavour of the month" builds. I always use something special, more unique.
Currently I am using a Support Cyber Hunter build and it is pretty good and pleasurable then Strenght or Dexterity abusive builds.
I've been a Cyber Hunter since September and I always used a unique build and it worked like a charm. Made me feel good and stuff.

And sometimes you do see some more unique builds. But its pretty rare. Now, I'm just suprised by every Varium Mercenary I see.

Camoflague MerC -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 6:32:45)

I have seen some real butterflies in the smoke, mainly non-variums like New H##e, i cant say the whole name cause of ed staff.......
anyway, i feel pretty special when a team of non var max levels beats a team of full var "flavour of the month" builds, faction wars would be so cool if it was non-var vs full var, varium being evil lol.

Digital X -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 6:48:24)

@Vampiric, Yes, many times. I came across one user with max surgical build and given my tech is low anyway (20-24 +5 -1) it completely ripped through me as her tech was something around 60 +68. Very seldom is it that i actually win those fights. Also with around 23 str/supp as base stats, this was a pure tank/tech heavy build and works extremely well.

Vampiric Prince -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 6:50:50)

I don't mean to create confusion among posters, I myself play a str/ 5 mass build atm because it's efficient for someone like me who gets limited playing time in amongst the tight schedules. My default builds are some pretty nasty 4 focus builds that are primarily high hp and enough defense to ' create ' blocks and mess with the random number generator. So I am that butterfly yes, but just not atm XD

And yes Digi, if it's this female merc character with blond hair then I have gotten her too. She survives my mass and rage gun most battles and then beats me. I have gotten her to 1 hp though, so we'll get her eventually. But very tough yes.

Killer666 -> RE: The butterfly in the smoke. (5/16/2012 23:25:05)
