ForTun3 -> the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 0:35:59)

yesterday while i was playing i pressed the exit button a few battles in a row coz i knew my team m8 was gunna lose and lag was making me bored, only to find that i got suspended from battle for "running" for like over 10 mins! i personally think if thats going to happen that the EXIT botton should be removed, if ppl are using it to get ahead on the LB, then their going to miss out on exp if their not max lvl that is, so whats the big deal really? and if everyone is doing it their shouldnt be a problem...

basicly, is the reason for this suspension just the fact that the exit button exist? anyone else had this happen, whats your opinion... and does anyone else think it should go like me?

oh and another thing do ppl that refresh during battle end up getting the same suspension?

Angels Holocaust -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 0:37:53)

They need to re add the exit button for 1 vs 1 to save time.

ForTun3 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 0:42:04)

how would that work? are you being funny lol? how can u exit an already ended battle? mind blown o.O lol

Angels Holocaust -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 0:51:14)

My bad, back in beta there was a run away button. It existed for people who didn't want to battle their current opponent. Really nice.

ForTun3 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 1:06:56)

ah right ok, i unfortunatly missed beta by like 6 months lol :(

i dont know if i really like the sound of that i hate it when ppl refresh i wanna fight even if i lose lol

Camoflague MerC -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 6:30:38)

You know what i find funny, when i am talking to my teammates sometimes i will get suspended for typing in something that im not supposed to, the most recent 'rude' word has been "came".

Xendran -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 6:42:24)

Basically the logic behind it is:

Battle Elf -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 7:02:04)

An exit button in 1v1 doesn't make sense, the problems would be much greater than the rewards.

Stabilis -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 8:23:49)

Surrendering or resigning from a battle is acceptable. It just needs to be accompanied by a breakpoint limit. The limit could be that in a certain amount of kicks, the player becomes suspended for 10 minutes or is kicked from the server forcing a login. The other path for a limit could be a maximum number of kicks given to the user such as being able to leave a maximum of 15 battles for every 30 minutes.

I was uneasy about this suggestion before too, but has anyone else played a game that has easy accessibility to quitting a game? I am a retired player of Arcanists which used to be a very successful Jagex owned game until it's staff were moved elsewhere. You could resign from a battle (it is strategy, turn-based, PvP by the way), and risk losing rating (or your score) and adding a loss. Resigning was never a problem because players had no means of cheating (until xferring), and resigning was too costly to perform, making it a last resort if you absolutely KNOW you were going to lose, not just whenever you feel like being a fountain of losses. Anyone caught xferring (willingly throwing the match to give the opponent the benefit of winning was punished by moderation/staff, and had their battle record reset, if not just by a small amount.

Ashari -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 10:37:37)

Using the Exit button in 2v2/2v1 isn't supposed count as running from battle. Being suspended for using it is a bug which is set to be fixed in this weeks release. Just a heads up on this issue. :)

Having an exit button while alive would only encourage running away. In 1v1 this isn't so much a problem as it only effects you negatively, but in 2v2 and 2v1, your partner is left with little or no chance if you leave the battle early. Even in 1v1 though, we want to encourage full battles. I know for me, having my opponent leave mid battle is never satisfying and we'd like to encourage battles to play out completely.

In addition, having a button to leave doesn't make much sense when you can be suspended from battle for leaving multiple times. It's counter intuitive to add a feature that players are punished for using.

Stabilis -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 11:21:38)

I can tell what the issue would be with 2v2 or 2v1, leaving the battle can be harmful to the player's partner.

Well, there is a recurring problem in how the battle engine handles turns in a 2 on 1 fight. There is no compensation for being alone. If we look at a level 34 fighting 2 level 34s the power difference is noticeable, what it essentially becomes is one player fighting another player at double firepower.

I would like to suggest a battle engine formatting to how turns are read. Using my experience from Arcanists, the most effective solution in 2 on 1 situations is to double the amount of turns the lone player recieves, but cooldowns and warmups act as if the player had single turns.

Example:

Player 1 and 2 VS Player 3 and 4

Player 2 leaves

Player 1 uses Fireball

Player 3 uses Malfunction

Player 1 uses Sidearm (Fireball at 3 turns cooldown)

Player 4 uses Auxiliary

Player 1 uses Strike (Fireball at 3 turns cooldown)

As far as I know, as long as cooldown/warmup are managed appropriately, there are few windows to exploit the double turns concept, something my old game took great care of. [:)]

PivotalDisorder -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 11:25:11)

factions used the run away button to exploit. now it is removed. if you don't want to fight your opponent, go AFK and if
you don't want to be suspended, don't keep leaving battles. usually takes 3-4 in quick succession to get suspended

Killer666 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/16/2012 22:56:16)

Like fay beee said. there WAS already that. But you still got suspended from battle.

so im guessing that some how the games auto ban thing gets confused with the exit button and thinks youve refreshed and bans you, weird... thanx for telling me its going to be fixed and that theirs an update this week :) so um is it just gunna be a small update or are we replacing the bio weps??? please say yes!!! lol

so yea if the problems going to be fixed keep the button :P but otherwise get rid of the thing if ppl want to exit they will still refresh even in 1v1 so definatly no need for that button, and guys isnt the whole point of a random battle to be random and you should be happy no matter who you fight win or loose you should still be having fun and if your leaving battles b4 your dead your ruining the spirit of the game [:(] lol

i like just seriously thought about this and their is simply no way around ppl leaving to exploit the game like, take the button away and ppl refresh or afk, try to block refresh somehow and ppl will afk or disconnect... locking refresh doesnt sound like it would be legal and stopping a connection be disconnected would most likely be impossible and if you made it so it was only disabled while the website was being displayed, you could just close the tab open a new one and log back in and so on and so on, craziness absolutely no way around it, gotta love it lol

think i might stop talking now lol :P

charwelly -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 4:23:26)

I agree this happened to me last week when I was playing 2v2.

you don't need to stop talking, you are right, those players will refresh or change servers BUT it takes them longer to do so than to just exit the match via a button.
also refreshing/changing server during battle can lead to the suspension, the exit button wouldn't, so it would definitely be much easier to take advantage of it.

ForTun3 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 19:26:47)

well its good to see im not alone in this thought, and @ ashari if you read this again, i read the design notes and their doesnt seem to be a mention of any bug fixes? is this something to minor to put a mention about? (im guessing theres prob a few lil things like that) sorry not being nasty btw just askn :/

PivotalDisorder -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 19:30:08)

^^ also some of us still waiting for that Bug Fix list the devs said they were gonna post after one of the recent updates.
would of been nice to know what was changed even if it was completely uninteresting to most players.

ForTun3 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 19:34:14)

is it on epic wiki man?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 19:40:26)

http://www.epicduelwiki.com/index.php/New_Releases

doesn't look like it. Titan said their was a lot of behind the scenes changes and they would post them to the forum, was 2 weeks ago maybe so
probably not gonna happen now. not a big deal, but for us nerdlings these are things we like to know [8D]

goldslayer1 -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/17/2012 19:58:24)

when u see a tlm with high dex, physical armor and max mineral, and ur strikes hit 5s and he can heal loop...
i think u would want the exit button too so u can spare urself a 10-15 round loss.

EDIT: thats not even mentioning luck -_-

RabbleFroth -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/18/2012 10:50:41)

Exits counting as a run will be fixed today, and there will be a confirm screen when you exit explaining the consequences of doing so.

1v1 will never have a quit or run button again, since we do not want to encourage that kind of behavior.

Stabilis -> RE: the EXIT button!!! (5/18/2012 10:55:31)

Any plans for 2v2 matching, Rabble? Even just a teaser. [&:]
