I don't you should call the new classes *upgrades* as this suggests the class(es) are better when they are/should be equal.

Changed. ;P

fhiz -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 17:05:14)

I'm fine with the price. I'm also a non varium.

I changed at lvl 31 after buying new city guard armor and enchaining to +4 and all 33/34 weapons with several enhancements on them.

Credit's are not hard to earn and if they lower the price to change class, I'll be upset because I don't plan on changing again and and I will feel robbed since my switch was so recent.

Should you be able to freely switch between classes if you have payed varium for it? No. I use to think it should be like that, but it just doesn't feel right to me. Class hopping would have no disadvantage, and people would abuse the free re-train.

Should the class evolutions be better then the starting classes? Yes, but only very, very slightly better. If they were meant to be equal, they would be offered as a starting class. You invest your time/money to have this slight advantage.

http://epicduelwiki.com/index.php/Enhancements <---that's the credit to varium ratio for enhancements. The credit prices for enhancing are outrageous compared to changing class.

I guess that's my thoughts on everything being discussed in this thread. Questions, comments, or ridicule are always welcome.

oh an look at this, http://epicduel.artix.com/charpage.asp?id=comicalbiker

Ha! What exactly does showing me a boosting NPCer with 220,00 wins prove? Not to mention, he is a Cyber! The easist, most broken class in the game! No skill AT ALL there!

That's what's so sad about this game. People actually think that using boosters a good player makes.

In reality, it couldn't be further from the truth.

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 17:17:56)

Keep this thread alive!!! This classified information is important for the staff and Artix's pricing agents.

frogbones -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 17:41:00)

Anyway, I like the idea of a class change token. Once you pay for the class, you get the token, which enables you to change back to that class anytime you want for free.

xGreen Warriorx -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 17:51:26)

I started out as a mercenary, then I changed to a tactical mercenary. When they got rid of smoke I switched to cyber, but some of the tactical builds I've seen recently have totally kicked my butt, and I want to try them out. However I want to be able to easily get back to cyber, and then try another tactical build, and then maybe experiment with berzerker and bunker buster on mercenaries without breaking the varium bank. So, I totally support the idea of keeping classes in your inventory, like they are items. To make that fair I think that keeping them should cost more, so there are two ways to buy classes - keeping them in your inventory, and just switching to them. Sound good to anybody?

Ranloth -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 17:54:43)

This would cause more class jumpers to appear. Sure it may cost a bit to change classes but you could simply buy all Classes with mix of Varium and Credits if you wish to and just switch whenever you feel to; when one becomes OP. It costs Varium for a reason every time you change, so class jumpers aren't appearing as often and to get profit of course.
Discounts which were suggested would be good if you were ___ class previously, quite a good idea. ^^

rej -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 18:41:23)

Class change price is actually quite reasonable. There is a credit option and everything. I've managed to save 1,800 var by spending credits instead.
However, I notice that a credit option for name change and house purchasing is still massively lacking. Hopefully these things will be fixed in the near future.

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 19:01:14)

I came to this conclusion:

Class jumpers are good, they expose a critical failure point in PvP balance fairly quickly.

With class jumpers and battle tracker working together, someday this game will have balance that even my ashes will nod at.

Besides, it is not class jumpers we are worrying about here, it is our money that never stabilizes in class changing because we never own the class item no matter how many multiples of 50K credits or 900 varium we have.

With free class changing upon ownership, the PvP community could actually end up more diversified since they can experiment with potentially any build, not just 1.

DeathGuard -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 19:04:56)

The prices are fine and prevent the abuse of class changing, some of the few things that stop it.

Killer666 -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 21:49:01)

Honestly =P its fine. If you want it so bad. use a lil cash and get urself some varium for it ^_^ 50k is better then not available at all.

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 22:10:24)

I share the OP's thoughts so I will speak on his behalf.

Let's see here...

Made about 10-15 class changes, made about 10 names or so...

I still pay for these things which I inherently own. What could the problem be with changing classes, anyone who disagrees with the feature topic? It is not a matter of varium, no, at the same time it is a varium trap whenever you feel like changing. Class jumping does what again? This would be a balance problem, not a player problem then.

Not sure why some players do not want to save money, the more money that you save the more money that you put towards benefits in EpicDuel, sooo.

ND Mallet -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 22:47:21)

@void You don't own a class change. It's a service. When you pay to get your tv repaired you don't get to call them back and fix it for free if it breaks a few years down the road again. The problem is that the Staff don't want people to constantly change classes(probably because it would put strains on the server to allow it).

Clavier -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:02:54)

I have a few things in mind
Not everyone could get 50k as easy as you guys do... They need 1600 1vs1 wins and not spend anything.
Varium in my opinion is a luxury... It can't be compared to credits.
Class renting would bring more variation to the game, and it's a good thing. If you feel being robbed, check this. You buy iPad yesterday, and today iPad2 comes out. See?
And they should of course pay 500 for the free retrain.

Joe10112 -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:11:52)

I was a BH to begin with. Then CH just started whooping everyone (before SC nerf). I had around 20k credits at the time, and I just gave up. Bought 1250 varium, changed to CH. Now, as a CH for a few months now, I begin to see its flaws, and have (many times) suggested changes (in vain, most likely >.>)

I would totally love to be able to switch freely between BH and CH, because I started as a BH and paid for CH, I'd like to go back to BH for a while, because I have some good ideas for some BH builds.

Anyway, maybe they can work it so that you can switch between two classes?

For instance, if I started out as BH, switch to CH, I can switch back and forth any time.

But, if I switch again, to say, TM, I have to pick one of the classes to "give up". Let's say I pick BH to "give up". Now I can only switch between CH and TM freely, but if I want to switch back to BH, I have to pay 900 var/50,000 creds again.

Midnightsoul -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:18:06)

u know, i have always had depressed's idea in the first page where u only have to buy the class once and can switch for free only for a "purchased" class...

but it's not super hard to class change with creds...even i have done it...
soulprisner is right though...free players are already lucky to even be able to class change...but the credit thing is kinda ridiculous though....

Wraith -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:50:41)

How about this, let's restore the 1,500 Varium price tag and remove the credit option.

I didn't see ANYBODY complain about this in Gamma.

But then there was some sort of balance...unlike now.

Clavier -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:55:13)

@Wraith
There were only 3 classes in gamma and they were equal.

Wraith -> RE: Class Change Price (5/16/2012 23:57:18)

@Above: Oh right. Every class could two-hit each other, every class could abuse support, every class could block everything, etc.

What people need to do is know how to use their class.

Just like in Gamma.

Clavier -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 3:25:09)

^
So what do you suggest?

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 5:59:12)

If a class is purchased with varium (including credits maybe), it becomes free and owned by the player. Class changes are limited to once per week. There. You can make it 2 weeks or one month too.

anton the ant -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 6:58:41)

Do class jumpers make dis topic?

Battle Elf -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 7:13:25)

I think it's good, if it was any lower there would be too many class jumpers.

carabuno -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 7:30:22)

I think it should stay at 50k i changed classes twice with gold and 4 times with var

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 13:54:31)

Forget the topic "Class Change Price", we've been talking about buying classes on the first page vs renting so if you're lost see the first page.
