Frontline FirstAid/Medic/Amputator/Doctor/Surgeon - quite simple name but it should fit the bill. What do you think?

Blackshock -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/25/2012 9:10:59)

They already took valkryie for the other mech. . . . hm. . . . what about resuscitator?

Darkling -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/25/2012 10:10:35)

I'd change it to a SCS, star captain special so you could do something whenever you wanted to.
Personally I'd rare the Dragonguard and work on another uber set meant for supreme annihilation.
Fun stuff you know like you can heal yourself while you walk or enable a cloak so enemies cannot hit you at all.
Everyone else is having promo fun why not Mechquest, why wait for the Dragonfable crew to do it 1st?

Thiefboy109 -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/25/2012 15:44:05)

@Darkling
Too time-consuming and isn't worth the effort because only a small portion of the playerbase will ever obtain said promo.

Dan2000eve -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/25/2012 17:21:35)

@thiefboy109 Wow, just wow... (What you wrote) [:D]

Still I have seen better. It does take up alot of the EXP and you still need to do many turns. I still find it very intersting... but I was just saying its not the best mecha (Well for me it isn't) but it was a cool idea!

Blackshock -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/25/2012 17:58:25)

What about an evasion + damage nerfing based mech. Kinda like putting together the best parts of the first TlaPd head and the steampunk body attack into one streamlined package. Lately, it's all about power housing everything, what about a mech that takes a punch and then throws it back twice as hard?

Sebastianthefrog -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/26/2012 16:52:51)

Seriously, selling my Mohawk was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. WTB time machine.

I more or less agree with rest of the thread, but I'm afraid I have a more draconian opinion on how they should be re-implemented. I think we should just flat out reinstate them. Star captains get the least value for money compared to other games ( I'm sorry, but we do) and scmm might remedy this. I understand this is difficult with the current team size, however, so makeing them bi
Monthly would be acceptable.

I would like to know how they were able to pump them out but not anymore however. Only person I remember leaving is warlic.

Selutu -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/26/2012 22:38:58)

We lost J6 to AQW, so now Korin has to do some of the cutscenes IIRC.
Also IIRC the staff also stated that SCMs will be released every 3-4 months or something like that.

Zanzibaarus -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 17:45:20)

3-4 months?!

Everyone! We must reclaim the staff of MQ! How would we do that? BURN AQW!

.R.M. -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 17:47:06)

3-4 months isn't too bad if the releases stay this good. As long as they work out this staff problem too... If they don't do that, it's pointless :\

Glais -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 17:50:04)

As much as I support this, it would cost AE too much money as a whole since MMOs are more popular.

They can replicate what they've done in Epicduel.

Like, if you're Lv. # and you buy X-package you get Y-set.

Or....

If you buy the 20k NG package you get a weapon set/mecha/something.

kodix101 -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 22:19:16)

MechQuest needs a new Monthly Rare mecha. Its official. Evne though I'm not a StarCaptian I desire a ne Monthly Mecha because we have released less than five mechas this year. That really sucks. But I can say without a regret that the Aegis was the best one. It has a stun abitlity and two DOTs. Plus the shoulder weapons increase damage with every use. THE AGEIS MECHAA IS AWESOME! But I only have the DragonLord/Guardian weaker version...

Cataclysm -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 22:26:02)

@Sebastian:

We... We do? And all this time, I'd been fooled into thinking SCs got the most. After all, most SCs don't have to resort to using rather cheap tricks to beat any quest [referring to Air Gun + Newbatron]... And as for raw content, here's what I totaled up, mech-wise from the first 25 levels. (Note that SC is only counting SC-exclusive)

quote:

MECHS:

Total: 628
NG: 181
SC: 259
NSC: 172
Non-Rare NG: 67
Non-Rare SC: 71
Non-Rare NSC: 61

So, out of 628, 259 mechs are SC EXCLUSIVE. That's MORE THAN A THIRD of the content reserved SOLELY for Star Captains. Out of the non-rares, SCs STILL have more mechs available for them than NSCs do. Considering that in DF and AQ, there's a LOT more free content available than purchased content, it's quite the stretch to say that SCs get the least bang for their buck. I'd venture to say they get the most.

(also, bi-monthly means twice monthly.)

Joe10112 -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 22:39:28)

@^: Bi-Monthly = Once every two months, not two times every month...?

Although on paper it looks like we get "more" compared with all the other games, in-game, it seems we get very little. Many of the mechs are the same thing, except NSC, SC, NG, in that increasing power level.

Also, I think what makes us feel that SC-ship grants least is that all other games have many member benefits. DF has you being able to utilize THE HIGHEST level weapons and stuff, and non-Dlord stuff can't compare. How about some GREAT classes to go with Dlord? Training your Dragon? Titan Fights? WAY better equipment, AT LEAST on par with Dragoncoins?

But in MQ, NG>SC most of the time. Seriously. And in AQW, ACs > Membership.

I wonder why many people feel that DLord was the best purchase they ever made...

But back to SC Monthly: Please, please, please! Make a new SCMM. I mean, since I upgraded, we have gotten NO new SCMM. Part of the reason I upgraded was because I liked the idea of SCMM, and couldn't wait to reap the benefits of having SC-only powerful mechs. But since I upgraded, 0. YES, 0 SCMM have been released, and that's saddening. Although I do NOT feel like my $25 (5000 AP) were wasted, I do feel that MQ could strive to give SC more "noticeable" benefits.

And MQ Staff, please make a pitch to the head of AE, Cysero? Or is it still Artix? I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure Cysero took over..., anyway, please make a pitch to them to give you guys a bunch of staff members back, even if only for a few months. I see so much potential in MQ, and with a fully abundant staff, I believe that even a few months overhauling some of MQ will make MQ so much better.

forumlogin -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/30/2012 22:44:25)

Ya know, I sorta wish we didn't have a reason to hate AQW. :P
It's like DF hating on MQ because we're newer and took staff or something (did we? I dunno. That's irrelevant).
Anyways, in today's MQ, a pure HP healing mecha wouldn't be too reliable. Defensive mecha as a whole are less useful than offensive ones; many enemies today have either effects that grow stronger over time, ways to hit EP, or just the capability to hit harder than can be healed off.
If we're gonna have a healing mecha, it'd need some way to counteract other effects to be really useful.

Or, of course, it can just be used for filler defaults, since healing weps are pretty rare round here, and they'd provide a nice complement to other weapons.

Cataclysm -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/31/2012 0:27:52)

@Joe: I just looked it up. Apparently, both definitions for bimonthly (twice a month and once every two months) work. Whoops. My mistake.

Pretty sure most of the SC mechs I looked at had nothing to do with NSC mechs. Yes, there were a few, but there's a very significant number (ESPECIALLY the rares) that are unique.

NGs being better than SC isn't new. In every game, the paid currency is better gear than the single upgrade. It has to be, otherwise there would be no point in purchasing the in-game currency. Very frequently the top items for their level are DC items in DF. (Also, Titan Fights are more of a hassle than anything else. Titan Dragon is crap.) The AE team tends to make more money from their alternate currency than their upgrades. They wouldn't make upgrade items better than their secondary currency.

Joe10112 -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/31/2012 20:53:49)

@^: Although that's true, I feel there could be a...better way so to say. Remember when some Mechs used to cost...2000+ NGs? (Uber Jameson...)? And then they scaled every mech down to 1000 NGs for all levels?

I mean, I'm not AGAINST the secondary currency being the most powerful items, heck, most of the items I use in DF are DC-items, but still, SCMM should have its own place.

And although Titan Fights might be a hassle...saying that
spoiler:

The Ending to Dragonfable's Chapter 1 Titan Fight against SMUDD
wasn't exciting? I was on VACATION at that time, and I got to the release ASAP to play it.

Still though, SCMM need to get reinstated...I mean really, that's one of the few perks that SCs have that define MQ. Heck, before I upgraded in MQ, the first thing that popped into my head when someone said "Star Captain" was "SCMM". Seriously. And that feature has been...delayed? Makes me sad.

The Cow says MOO -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/31/2012 21:54:01)

@^

Sometimes, on paper, DF seems so much better with Amulet, correct? How many of the 'Amulet Items' do you use. (Aside from the classes)

They're for higher levels. wayyy higher levels, and look at the power inflation problem in DF. The CRIT problem.

AQ? Same thing, though Guardians get a significant chunk of stuff the non-guardian people don't.

No saying that the other games aren't good, nor MQ is awesomesauce or something like that. But I hope people would view MQ in their own angle, not just because of what critics say or its general population

If DF got cut down like MQ, maybe you would say the same things to DF (Just an example, no offense)

PD -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/31/2012 22:44:45)

I would love to get a big long sword and kill the SCMM Project as a whole with one quick stab. Or perhaps blow it up with a Thermo-Nuclear bomb.

... Just as if it never happened ...

forumlogin -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (5/31/2012 23:10:35)

@The Cow
DF IS much better with the Amulet, not because of the weapons, but because of the story. In DF, the main selling point isn't the equipment, which is basically "get all these weapons of either x element or x special"; it's the plotline and humor.
In that sense, DCs are not nearly as important in DF, whereas in MQ, NGs basically unlock at least half the stuff SCs do, and sometimes even more (for example, the Card Key in Boltavolt's Hideout).

The Cow says MOO -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (6/1/2012 3:29:44)

@forum

Your're probably thinking I'm a whining dude or something of that sort. Okay, maybe I phrased it a bit badly (I have amulet and I'm dedicated to DF). But Joe's post was purely focusing on weps, and I felt a little, weird, about how he's making DF having amulet gets better weapons, but MQ with SC doesn't. They're pretty much the same

For the story, yes, I agree forumlogin. Wait a sec, you can unlock every story without amulet, and Dragongrasp isn't that good, and Titan Fights, well, they can get frustrating(ESPECIALLY at training)

@PD

Yes, it seems that SCMM in nearly every MQ player's mind : The only thing worth in the whole game. So worthy, in fact, they tend to ignore the fact that sometimes you have to sacrifice some unnecessary content for a bigger release [:@]

Glais -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (6/1/2012 3:39:01)

I'm sorry what, DragonGrasp was fantastic.
Also, ArchKnight and Xan backstories are DA only.

The Cow says MOO -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (6/1/2012 4:08:43)

Grasp, sorry glais, personal opinion. If you want to debate on that matter, lets do it somewhere else, shall we.

Archknight is meh to me. But yes, oh the Xan backstory. I. Freaking. Love. Backstories.

But that's a matter for discussion somewhere else, I suppose

Glais -> RE: =AK= SC Monthly Rare Mecha Discussion Thread II (6/1/2012 4:17:39)

Well yes, story is all up to opinion. Just saying though, there are some DA only questlines and stories, though they are few.
