Thanks Goony. As always a true and honest gentleman. [:)]

The contest seems tempting, but me skills with drawing aren't quite good, niether are my skills on computor art/media programs

drinde -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/30/2012 23:20:13)

Yes.

Objective Acquired: Complete all missions for the credits.

Yes.

Cinderella -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 8:24:39)

Shad- I was singing by player request. If 80% of players don't like it, I will certainly stop.

Also, moderators are allowed to enter, but not allowed to win. I actually won an art contest but was disqualified because I was a mod.

Smackie El Frog -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 10:56:35)

G00NY do it anyway! I like to see more of your artistic skillz especially when its a Simpsons parody! But even though you few mods say you wont jack the cheevo I highly doubt the mod on everyone's mind will do the same...

So any clues or hints as to when the war is coming? Been almost a month now since you teased us with it...

Shadronica -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 10:58:51)

Cindy my comment was not meant to offend anyone. Its just that I feel a game livestream should be for discussing the game. If we were going to implement music into the game then I am sure it would make some people happy.

Thank you too Fay Beeee. :)

My comment about the moderators entering or receiving anything from a competition again was not meant to offend anyone. I purely wish to see a competition where the actual paying customers can do their best to win not only a very special prize but a wonderful achievement. If the achievements were going to be handed out to every "favoured" player than it would cheapen the meaning of winning the contest. I'm hoping to see some people proudly displaying their very very rare achievement for some creative thinking and artwork. ;)

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 11:27:00)

The core of this contest is a community interaction and creativity. As the contest progresses, it will be fun to see the varied visions of community and responsibility. Hopefully all can participate for it will become a thread of art, and who doesn't adore that! :D

The Live Stream event is also a community event which provides a personal connection to the communal aspect of Epic Duel. I have enjoyed my experience every time. It is so nice to hear stories, perspectives and enlightenments about the game. When adding an icing of fun like singing or when Titan draws, it adds silliness and appreciation for it gives a comfort of a non formal bond between one another.

ansh0 -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 11:51:44)

Why is it that only varium weapons bar Charfades Sword get restocked?

What about the Hero's Heart Set?

Fay Beeee -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 12:01:11)

I believe the Heart Set was for that particular saga. Here for the sword from wiki http://www.epicduelwiki.com/index.php/Hero%27s_Heart_Broadsword

ansh0 -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 12:06:37)

Oh, I thought it was an LQS item. My bad, sorry.

There go my plans for class changing to CH or any other class....

Hope this war brings non varium E blades with the same stats/stat placement as the Hero's Heart Set.

@ED STAFF: any news from the balance tracker on how Blood Mages are performing in 1v1 since Berzerker was switched with Bludgeon?
also interested to know if Cyber Hunter's win rate has increased since that same change.

Edited out mention of cheating. ~TG

I certainly do realise the importance of the message that we are trying to convey to the ED gaming community in our latest contest.

Since we are looking for the best possible community message and some of our moderators without doubt are very talented then perhaps we should be looking at not only a contest for the general community of ED but the moderating team could have a separate contest too.

This way it would be a double bonus. The best from the general ED community and the best from our moderating team.

Perhaps the general community could vote on the best moderator entry. [;)]

Personally I think it would be a win/win situation.

Is this a possibility?

Lord Nub -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (5/31/2012 20:02:00)

It is my understanding that the poster must be the players OWN work which includes EVERYTHING in the submission? I see quite a few screenshots of completed work of others and a few original works mixed with other creations as well.

Just want to make sure before putting a ton of effort into this and being beaten by Nightwraith or Charfades creations :P

I've never been big on contests, but the new missions look good.

When can we expect the mission that requires the four blueprint scraps to come out?

Shadronica -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (6/1/2012 1:42:50)

Can we please have some set of standards regarding the Art contest?

Is it going to be open to everyone in the whole of EpicDuel because if it is then Nightwraith will win with no argument.
Are we going to hand out the art achievements like candy to only the "favoured" children of ED or are we going to recognise only the true winners?

Does anyone see my point here? It is about having an ethical standard.

Lycus -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (6/1/2012 6:50:34)

@Shadronica: Firstly, just to answer one of your first posts, though Cindy has already got to it, the singing in the Livestreams lasts, at max, 2-4 minutes when compiled over the course of the stream. When we are streaming for 120 minutes, I don't see why it's an issue at all, it simply adds a bit of life to the whole thing.

Secondly, I think the rules on the Livestream are very clear, all player rules are very clear on the post in the contest section, and as Cindy said, staff members can participate but cannot win. I don't really see your point at all, because what you're basically do is accusing us to be biased towards certain players, or we may be holding a competition where we have already decided who we want to win. However, if you took the time to look at any of our previously held competitions, you would see we judge these competitions very fairly, and we don't favour any single player.

That being said, the straight answer for your question, is that we obviously are only going to reward those who actually win, and rewards will be handed out as stated in the Contest post. We have demonstrated how these contests work before, in the Winter House theme contest and so on. There is always going to be the opinion of '*Insert name here* should have won, not *insert name here*', that is inevitable. However just because others don't carry your view, doesn't mean that everything is unfairly ran, and we are being biased, because I can assure that certainly is not the case.

Just because I can't drop the subject but, can we have a reason then as in why Donna Matrix has the cheevo as a Mod?
I don't remember her winning that competition of the House decoration.

Stabilis -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (6/1/2012 7:05:25)

Is she more than a mod in Artix Entertainment? I do not remember.

Shadronica -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (6/1/2012 7:45:56)

@Calogero. Thank you I agree.

@Lycus. It really doesn't bother me at all if people want to sing for the whole two hours in the livestream as I won't be there. Just passed a comment that it isn't to everyone's taste but hey ... whatever floats your boat.
No need to get upset about the fact that not everyone is into listening to people sing on a gaming livestream.
Concerning the rest of your post Lycus I have sent you a PM.

I just want a simple answer to a simple question. Are the moderators going to be able to ask to have the art achievement?

Clavier -> RE: =ED= May 30, 2012 Design Notes - Summer of EpicDuel (6/1/2012 9:34:36)

Finally a chance for f2ps…

The contest is open to anyone who wants to participate in it. However, Mods and Staff are exempt from winning. Meaning they can enter but not win. ( personally I was POed when I fond out people got the house decor achievement and trophy from the last contest who didn't even enter, it wasn't right by any means )

I'm going to be entering my piece as to set an example of the kind quality we are striving for here. Its a poster, so yes standard poster sizes. If you need a guide as to what those sizes are, here

Also will be looking at your use of typography and how well designed the poster is. Use of imagery plays a huge part in designing a poster. A poster has to convey a lot of meaning in a few short seconds. There is a simple test you can do to see how well your poster is designed. Show it to a friend who has never seen your poster before for 3 seconds and then take it away. Then ask them how much they remember of it. If they remember what was said and the meaning behind it, then its a successful design. If not, might be a good idea to rework the images until you get it right.

Another tip I can offer is look up examples of posters you like. All artists do research before working on a piece. For this I'm looking at war propaganda posters and I'm mimicking the typography used in the 1920's.

Include your own drawn elements! This is a art contest after all!

Most art contests I enter I usually do concepts, art studies, and thumbnails before I go to work on the final image. If you've ever taken an upper level art class you know this is a common practice. So it is a good idea to do that here as well.

For further reading to help you with your poster - google search, "principles and elements of design", "color theory", and "perspective drawing". <-- all artists usually abide by these basic fundamentals of art.

I can also offer one last tip, Take your time, dont rush it. If it looks like you work was created in MS paint in 5 minutes with a few squiggles and a clip art image.... chances are you might want to rethink your entry.
