Death Jr -> The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 20:42:57)

In beta tech mages were UP and bounty hunters were OP. In gamma tech mages were still UP and bounty hunters were still OP. In the beginning of delta tech mages, blood mages, and cyber hunters were UP while bounty hunters and tac mercs were OP. Now tech mage casters are doing alright and str blood mages are alright but tank cyber hunters and bounty hunters are OP while mercs and tac mercs are slowly going to the bottom of the food chain. What do u guys think of the rise and fall of the classes? Do u switch to the classes that are OP or stay faithful with a single class?

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 20:59:28)

Tell me more about why tech mages couldn't use their current builds involving a high level of plasma bolt/supercharge/a caster build back in previous eras. They could. And wouldn't have been considered 'UP'. There were simply too little people using that class for such a trend to emerge.

And the whole 'mercenary is underpowered' thing? I don't see why they can't use that strength-spam build that got blasted in Gamma for being 'OP'.

And if I'm not wrong, blood mages always had blood lust, beserker (now that's been changed), fireball and deadly aim. And they used to have assimilation as well. Recipe for a powerful (even 'OP') strength build? Of course! Note: this is when they were considered 'UP'. And when they are now considered strong, or even 'OP', there isn't that convenient assimilation to tie into their strength builds anymore.

Of course, some classes have become 'better' or 'worse' due to major changes to their skill tree (cyber hunters, tactical mercs). (Even blood mages now have a greater diversity of builds that do work thanks to reflex boost) But by and large, the 'OP'ness and 'UP'ness of classes depend on the number of people who are actually in that class and bother to think how to use it. Often, those claiming that their own class is 'UP' aren't thinking hard enough.

Are you kidding me?

Beta TM could heal loop like hell and they were basically immortal.

Forgot if this was beta or not but TMs were doing 150 Damage in a turn with their SCs

Renegade Reaper -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 21:23:34)

@liy010 i think that was alpha, when SC did 3 hits of insane damage.

PD -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 21:26:25)

Alpha Charge in Beta didn't inherently do big damage. All it did was use your remaining energy into an attack and divide it over 3 hits. Wasn't really meant to be abused the way it was.

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 23:10:09)

Bounty Hunters are OP? Weird, the only time they were considered op was when shadow art was an abused ability, back when George Lowe was implemented into this game. If anything, I would say it is the most balanced class out of all 6 of them.[sm=dewlok.gif]

PD -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 23:15:18)

Bounty Hunters used to have an ability called Diamond blades in which their wrist balde attack was boosted by a percent of their weapon damage, kinda like having deadly aim being used every turn.

Also, 11 Hit Massacre with much MUCH higher percentage back then. Was capable of dealing over 100 damage with a +25 base damage weapon, and that's cutting through armor.

Also, don't forget the Iron Skin & Personal Shield Mercenaries. Oh, and Tactics Mercenaries too (Not to be confused with the playable Tactical Mercenary class). :P

Vendile -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/3/2012 23:57:58)

TM UP in beta is the worse joke I've ever heard. BM was nerfed due to their strength options. And IMO BH aren't that good...

khalidon5000 -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/4/2012 0:49:37)

Support Mercenaries in Beta were definitely OP.
Massive Level 1 Support Scaled Heal
20% Damge ignoring multi.

Dj Vergz -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/4/2012 9:43:44)

I was a one of the best non varium tech mage in beta , i remember techmages were in fact OP .
But then they nerfed tech mages and then merc's were OP ... and so on .. it all depends on the skill/equipment of the player.
if you have support/techmage weps .. don't expect them to work well on a str bounty build.

So id say its quite good atm ... i was "cyber hunter" just a week ago and i went back to mage because its no fun being in a OP class... but then again i can say it was easier to play as a cyber because of the simple skill tree (i used a 93 support / 5+ focus build) which turned out being my fav build until i made another cyber build that did epic dmg (max massacre) and i stuck with that for a while.

The point is a class can't be UP unless you let it be... !

ScarletReaper -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/4/2012 15:48:07)

The only thing about bounty hunters that is op is their strength build which I have to say is extremely powerfull. Back when I was a cyberhunter I STILL lost to them. The combo of smokescreen, bloodlust and massacre is rediculous. If I was someone who jumped for power, that's where I'd go. If they could just fix the op'ness of that build then they would be balanced.

rej -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/4/2012 19:13:18)

Clearly you and i played through completely different forms of Beta Phase. Back in Beta, Tech Mages were easily the strongest class- nothing could even tough heal loop builds.

Maybe you should do your research BEFORE posting a topic. Or, at the very least, use the words "in my opinion" when discussing balance.

Power Of The Chosen -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/5/2012 1:25:43)

i feel like tactical merc and cyberhunter are overpowered :/... especially cyber hunter. cyber hunter mixed with that massacre build just freakin kills it, you cant even emp them cause they will just get energy back. then they have plasma armor and defense matrix which makes it harder to actually do damage, and when you do end up doing some damage through lets say rage or a critical they just heal, and some of them even have heal looping if you last that long to see it, or boosters.

those types of builds for cyber hunter mixed with varium equipment your going to be getting some insane stat modifiers all over your build.

ScarletReaper -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/5/2012 7:33:31)

tlm is not op'ed. It is way less op'ed than cyberhunters, strength bountyhunters and strength bloodmages.

nico0las -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/5/2012 18:31:30)

First off, tech mage heal looping was the first OP class in beta. Then there came the support mage, which is was arguably the greatest build ever
(excluding maybe the beta-gamma BH and the 125 health TLM). #MageNation.

BH was EXTREMELY under powered during early delta. The class practically died out.
TLM controlled this game until about November. Then the rise of the CH came, and with it came the dexterity mage, which was also extremely powerful.

The "rise and fall of classes" is based on how well people who use a class can build. Tech mages or Cyber hunters, for example, take the gold, while Bounty hunter
and blood mage have more or less one build going for them (even though they're very strong).

@Below In early Delta? Speak for yourself. It was only a few months AFTER Delta that the % on BHs went up. Maybe YOUR build was good. For the majority though, the
class had practically died out.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/5/2012 18:42:30)

^
BH weak in delta? Are you serious? I had over an 85% during then with my strength build.
Beta was heal loop and support mages until they were nerfed, then came strength bounty and strength merc in gamma, delta was TLM and now we have CH and strength BMs.

Retrosaur -> RE: The Rise and Fall of Classes (6/5/2012 18:48:50)
