I just came up with this skill called Breach.

This is a new skill for Bounty Hunters, replacing Shadow Arts.

This is how it works :

It gives you a passive armor which gives defense/resistance based on the first damaging attack you do to your opponent, i.e strike, gun, aux, bot etc.

Breach

Gives you a passive armor based on how much damage you do to your opponent on your 1st turn

Level 1- 1% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 2- 3% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 3- 5% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 4- 7% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 5- 9% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 6- 11% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 7- 12% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 8- 13% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 9- 14% of damage taken by opponent on first turn
Level 10- 15% of damage taken by opponent on first turn

Example

You do 25 points of energy damage on your first turn with a MAX Breach.

25*.15=4 rounded up

You get +4 resistance for the rest of the match.

Technically, it has no way to be OP unless abusers get you bug abusers are abusers so it makes sense to Shield against them + Armor is used for heavy damage, no? XD

I'm just thinking if it may not be UP, it's a passive that depends on the damage on first turn and if it's let's say that 25 damage, it's just +4 Res/Def which may not seem that much, although there's BL to compensate for it. Also I have a question - is the damage after defences or before? So if I deal 50 damage but they have 30 Res (so that's 20 dmg dealt), do I use 20 or 50 damage? If it's after defences, it has potential to be UP although strong for Str abusers (low defence = more damage taken = defence boost) but if before defences, %s should be fine (may seem a bit if before defences, but we gotta account for having to take damage before you get Res/Def).

I dislike it since it gives Defenses to people who rely on Offense.
Besides, you want another class with a passive that gives you defense?

You're wrong, you get either Defence or Resistance, and it's after you take damage. So if you take 50 damage, next turn you get % of it as Resistance instead until end of the battle and it's not really that much of a passive. Besides it doesn't say %s are fixed already, if ansh was to make 1% per Level (maxes out at 10%), and make it before defences, if they deal 50 damage you get 5 of it as Res/Def which isn't that much since you can "fool" them - use weak skill/weapon so they don't get a good defence.

The more damage the person with Breach does, the more defence/res they receive.

Keep in mind that this works on the first damaging move you do which is often below 30.

Trans, this is calculated with the opponents defences in mind.

Do you guys like it?

Hmm, after defences it'd be a bit weak if you ask me. Since top move does usually 30-40 damage at high Level (after defences) so that's 5-6 Res, I won't say it's bad since it's supposed to be a passive and not as useful as passive Armors since it'd be OP, so yeah I like it since it goes with BL together (you gotta get hit first, which as I said, can be fooled and you can use weak attack first) and isn't giving that much of an advantage.

It's quite good, it fits the theme of BH in some way. [:D]

Oh God, I thought it's damage you take in.. But case is still the same really, just swap damage taken in to damage dealt. xD

I do, somewhat if we account for Smoke, but there is way around it. Idea in itself is good, and Staff would tweak it to make it balanced - %s can be lowered, Smoke wouldn't be included in damage, limit can be put for maximum Res/Def. With limit, you cannot exceed it which prevents abuse, and lower %s would also prevent that (which would make Smoke not included useless).
Another way is to make limit for Res/Def scaled by Level so it'd raise every few Levels but not by much.

Let's not focus on balance too much but idea in itself, we're not Staff so even our numbers could be changed. :P

Debuffs aren't a problem in 1v1 because if you use smoke on 1st turn and do 30 damage, the passive shield sets up with 5 def/res(calculating it with 30 dmg).

It can be abused in 2v2 though...but as you stated, we can exclude smoke from the damage calculation.

Even if you do 50 damage on your first turn(often, you won't), you will get a MAX of 8 def/res which pales in comparison to MA or PA.
