Why does it take us 31 days to actually kick some people who are inactive in a faction even though they donated? Seriously, most factions kick there members who are 1 week inactive like mines and anyone can who are pretty inactive playing this game goes "Oh , I donated 20,000 tokens at the flag and I'm already retired in my faction. I'll just wait for the 30th day and do 1 win so the leader wont kick me and not lose tokens". That's funny, 31 days can be easily avoided and prevents leaders to kick inactive members who dont play much in a faction and end up staying there forever because they can't kick them or the tokens that player donates will be removed from the flag. I say this needs to be looked at it and readjusted to 7 or 10 days.

I kick after 4-5 days reguardless. I require an active faction. [8D]

yes, the staff dont really know the requirements for an active faction.
if ur inactive for as long as a week (even if u only did 1 win a day for 7 days straight. thats considered inactive) then thats WAY inactive.

and if ur off for 2-3 days, at a time, u better have a good excuse.

I totally do NOT support this. I play ED on my days off from work, which is two days out of the week. People need to consider that some people have a real life and have to pay bills. I think that faction times need to be looked at a little more. For one, faction leaders kick members for being inactive for a week. Which angers me a bit. I am in Eternal Paradise and JZaanu lets me stay, knowing that I am as active as I can be due to my life.

Please think about this before kicking people who are inactive for a week or two. At least TRY to contact those member.

I support this, in my previous factions, they only log in and do like 1 win, and that makes them active for the day, the can do that forever and the founder won't kick them out

I have a full time job and 2 kids, a 4 month old and a 2 year old, and I still manage to log in and get at least 20-30 wins or more every few days.

Agreed. One week is plenty of time. I know of factions that kick members after four days of unexcused inactivity, so 30 days is completely out of the question.

Previously you would take a pretty large hit to your Influence for kicking an active player, and that penalty would be halved after 60 days of inactivity. We felt this was more lenient, but perhaps we could cut down on the penalty after a shorter amount of time like you're suggesting. Will bring it up to the team.

^ It's there to prevent people from recruiting a member, making them donate a ton of tokens and kicking them right afterwards.

Trying to find an accommodating balance between the individual player and the functionality of the faction, it can be a challenge, so continue to post your thoughts. Players like officers and members from active and passive orientated factions what are your beliefs of respectable balance? The more scenarios expressed, the better opportunity to find that balance within what is deemed fair for activity/inactivity.

I do not agree with the request, first of all people do have lives outside of ED and as time consuming as the game is itself without factions, so it is impossible to assume that every one of your faction members can be active

Second: this game has a lot of new functions/shops that depend on being in a faction and for the first time I felt as being in a faction actually mattered in terms of gameplay (other than getting the two achievements and haning out w/ friends), so it is not unreasonable to only be able to kick a player after one month

If you truly want to be a hardcore gamer then just be careful who you recruit into your faction, and remember that this is a "game", in the end you don't really achieve annything [;)]

That is a pretty good reason in my opinion, but would the following route be just as secure and even more convenient:

頻layer is recruited by a faction leader

付he faction leader scams the player into surrendering all of their tokens for the faction

付he faction leader kicks the player and searches for another

付he player uses a new report feature... "scamming and real-world trade"

付he dialogue of the reported faction leader is sent to the Lawman (like mods or testers/bug help)

品f the event matches the scam dialogue (if there was any), then the faction will be discredited by the number of the tokens scammed, the player accredited by the number of the tokens scammed, and the scammer to be dealt punishments if necessary

If you consider this, you will find this to be an upgrade to the current faction security standards.

Other things:

付he scammer should be labelled so other players will know what they do/have used to support

浜ike all spam (not scam!!) handling in the Lawman's inbox, players who abuse the report feature have that/those functions disabled

Ultimately this would truly result in players and faction members being extra vigilant in how they treat other players in this area. If there is no dialogue then it is the player's fault... example = "omg I got into KotR I better give them all my monies!" *is inactive for 2 weeks and thus kicked* *reports everyone in the faction in blind rage* *is not compensated for their unwise choice*

Boom.

yes, while i do understand some people are busy with other things and sometimes go without playing weeks at a time.
if u didn't join an active faction, then this wouldn't be a problem.

the 30 days thing affects active factions more than it does passive ones.
because a passive faction thats just there to chill wont care if ur out for 3-4 weeks.

but if ur out 3-4 weeks for an active faction then ur really hurting that faction.

and then decisions come, kick 1 inactive player and perhaps anger him. or leave him and have ur faction at a disadvantage and tick all the other members.

and theres other scenarios people haven't taken into place.
what if a player was in an active faction and got banned for a month?
all of a sudden the leader cant kick because he will loose tokens? (in reality, if he was banned, he would be kicked regardless no matter his activity)

what if a player got scammed or hacked and the scammer/hacker is running rampant in the faction? why shouldn't we kick?
for the passive/inactive players, i understand what u mean. but in reality if ur as inactive as u say u are, no active faction would take u in.

and if ur in a faction that doesn't care about activity, (which u probably are in, or else u would have probably been kicked if u were a month away) then why worry about this?

I believe that each faction should handle their inactive members as they see needed.
I personally will wait 30 to 60 days, because I play for fun not driven by any of the
leader boards so I dont have a need for very active players. For those who do
then I can see your point, but I would say you make it clear to them that they
will get the boot for not playing. I think there should be a stiff penalty for
scamming players.

I think it is coherent for the Faction Leaders to point out. Say someone was recruited to an extremely active faction, like CaD. I think that, yes, they SHOULD be active a lot AS LONG AS THE LEADER MENTIONS IT, but, however, if I were recruited to a Passive Oriented (aka a "FUN" faction, like Eternal Paradise.) then I think that we have a right to sometimes be inactive as long as out leader tells us.


However, I am HIGHLY against it. What if someones internet access is out for 10 days? How exactly would they tell someone what is going on?

This is on a very personal note from me, as a FUN faction.

When I let people join, I ALWAYS explain our rules and as we have no requirements, all I ask is that they let me know if they are leaving. I have 1 member that has not been on for 70+ days. Which, as things stand, is no problem.

BUT when I was in a very active faction. We asked members to inform us if they were having time out. For 2 weeks or more, as there was a win requirement to be met.
This would give both player and faction to prove their loyalty, to each other. This should be CLEARLY explained, when they joining.

In my opinion only, two weeks seems long enough, and is ample time as waiting for longer (without knowledge of when they are returning) could damage an active faction. Communication is the key here, I think.

Also, as an after thought, No PLAYER should be required to donate more tokens than they have earned in that faction. eg. 50 wins for 50 tokens. (Not counting what they brought with them - if any.)


Just my personal views on the subject. No offence meant. :)

Yeah, when I recruit someone I tell them straight away that I boot people who are gone 5 or more days. However if someone knows they will be gone for longer, like they are going out of town or something, if they post it on the messageboard I don't boot them however. :D

Actually this is an interesting topic, the problem is factions have different activity times. I've been in some of the most competitive factions as well as some of the most non competitive ones.


I'm trying to think about the new change, and I think it's quite justified really. To me, I'm under the assumption that competitive factions would already have a strong 'core' group of players, who donate enough tokens to flags and get enough wins/influence for WD. With the new recruits you're getting, your faction doesn't really lose anything anymore.

Why? If they don't meet your requirements (wins/day), you'd simply kick them and ONLY that player's tokens would be lost, and you could just recruit a new member if you really needed more tokens. That would be the new penalty instead of losing a good chunk of FACTION influence. If they do donate a lot of tokens within a month, I would assume an active faction has enough tokens to get it back.

My Inactive Members - Assuming you do end up with inactive members, I'd consider people who end up categorized as this to be some of the older players who don't apply to the above. You'd easily be able to kick them without penalty.

Don't forget the 250 Influence requirement to donate tokens.

Really, that sounds harsh to me and personally I would hate to do what I mentioned above, but I'm thinking from the point of view on active/competitive factions.

So if you were to leave the faction within 30 days of joining on your own accord, does that faction take a hit of influence lost?
