Grixus Faldor -> Menu links (8/5/2012 7:14:54)

It's been suggested that there be integration of chatboxes or integrated messaging programmes and applets, but I think the inclusion of the link to the Caelestia IRC Network on the menu would make IRC far more prominent and put to rest a lot of the questions and suggestions pertaining to instant messaging.

Also it appears to me that the Login link remains there even after a user has logged in, is there any way of adding an if/else conditional on its display so that it shows only to guests?

The Login link still serves its functions. On occassion, my friend wants to check his PMs when he's over. Hitting the Login button there lets him do so. While it's not the most useful to every forumite, it still has its uses and its purposes.

You misunderstand me, I don't mean removing it altogether I mean to hide it from logged-in users through the use of if/else conditionals.

I understood you. I'm oftentimes logged in to the forums. While I could log out and then have him log in that way, it's quicker to just hit the login button, if left where it is. While the uses are few and only occasional, they're still present. It *can* be hidden for online users, I would think, and wouldn't really be overly detrimental to hide it, but I don't see why it should. For households with multiple users of the forums, it still serves a purpose.

Ah, my mistake. Generally, though, these links display based on if/else conditionals, as I've observed on most other forums. However, you raise a fair point. I still believe that IRC should be linked, though, perhaps as "Chat" or something less esoteric so as to avoid further questions on what the link actually leads to.
