Hiyas!

Does anyone know how to become an Arch Knight? Do you need any special programs for it? Umm...that's all

SMGS -> RE: Arch Knight Questions (8/14/2012 21:20:46)

This thread should explain the process of becoming an ArchKnight:

quote:

ArchKnights (AKs)
Title: ArchKnight (Will include "Arch" or "AK" and the name/s of the board/s they work in)
Responsibility: To help the moderators keep the forum clean. They patrol their assigned boards helping users, watching for and dealing with rules violations (such as spam, flaming, trolling, etc). They issue warnings and recommend bans to the moderators. In addition, they keep an eye out for helpful forum users to bring to the attention of the moderators/administrators. They may have other duties depending on which board/s they work.
Selection: AKs are selected from among helpful forum users by the head moderator of the board/s they frequent. The head moderator discusses his or her selection with LANDIS, the head of the ArchKnights, and if he approves they are brought aboard.

This is the part where I always want to make something up about having to climb the Mountain of Fire and slay the elder dragon Bthal'mun to obtain the seven legendary rubies which will allow you to conquer your ancient nemesis and usher in a new golden age of peace and prosperity to the land... and then we'll let you be an Archknight. [;)]

In actuality, though, there's no special way to become an Archknight. You can't apply for the job, and you can't ask someone to make you an Archknight. What you can do is be a helpful and involved member of the forum community. When we need to pick Archknights, we select them from the community at large and the main things we look for are people who are active and helpful in a forum that needs an Archknight. Being yourself is also a big plus; we don't like to pick people who are obviously angling for the job by acting like they think we want to see potential Archknights act. In other words; it's a good thing if you're being helpful and involved because you like the forums and honestly want to contribute to the forum community; it's not-so-good if you're only being nice because you want to be an Archknight.

Can I also add that although most AKs had previously been given a title prior to the promotion, one isn't actually needed. Angelique, a former mod, is an example. Scakk was so impressed with her attitude, that she was promoted. So, you see, the best you can really do is be yourself and be a good forumite, and maybe you, too, could be promoted. <.<

I agree with Seahawk about the being yourself thing: most of the AKs I've befriended are genuinely fun, good-natured people, and the community loves them for that. :)
