fhiz -> Highly disappointed in the epic duel community... (8/31/2012 20:03:57)

I was in a 1v1 which I should have won. He had used two health boosters, and at the end of the battle he used atom smasher taking me down to 0 energy, so I used an energy booster, I had rage and he only had to hit me for me to get enough energy back to use plasma bolt, but instead he skipped 2 turns until he could use atom smasher again so I couldn't kill him.

I know this can't be how the developers intended the game to be played. I think if you skip 2 turns in a row, you should be disconnected. If you miss one turn because of lag or you get distracted, that's fine because everyone does. But if you skip two in a row, your doing it on purpose.

This circumventing of the system to avoid giving someone energy back through reroute should not be allowed. You should have to preform some action every turn.

The reason I say I should have won is because the battle ended with him at 3 health. Anything he did aside from skipping 2 turns would have resulted in me winning. If he had used field commander to avoid giving me energy back, then he wouldn't have had enough energy to use atom smasher again, and if he had used blood shield for the same purpose then he would have died.

This doesn't just apply to energy draining, if you have rage, you should have to use whatever you have off of cool down.

Here's another scenario where this would come into play. Blood mage verses tactical mercenary. The blood mage is at 20 health(enough to survive another hit) he has rage, but the only move that would finish him, lets say plasma cannon, is on cool down. The tlm has 40 health and 16 energy. If the blood mage uses his rage on anything else, it will give the tlm enough energy to heal and win the battle, but instead he skips a turn, the tlm strikes(because that's all he can do), The blood mage lives with 4 health then rages plasma cannon to win the battle.

^the above is a hypothetical situation that didn't happen to me or anyone else to my knowledge

I don't believe this is how the game is meant to be played. If you want to stall away a turn in order to save your rage or not give someone energy back, then you should be forced to boost(wasting credits) or use a move that doesn't use rage/hit your opponent(wasting energy). At the moment, there's no down side to playing the game this backwards way and there needs to be.

Have you lost because someone used this tactic on you, or have you beaten someone using this tactic. Anyway, I look forward to seeing what anyone else has to say about this.

For anyone who just reads the first post: Stop saying mean things. I was trolling.

------------------------------------edit 2------------------------------------------

I created this thread solely to see the response I would get. would people agree? Would they disagree? Would they try to offer helpful tips or would they just be mean, and for the most part everyone was mean. I am the tactical mercenary in the above scenario I described I skip turns all the time, but I feel bad about it because my opponents honestly deserve to win those fights.

What I've discovered is aside from a few diamonds in the rough, the epic duel community(at least the ones on the forums) is just a bunch of elitist jerks unwilling to offer help to a fellow player. I've played this game for close to two years now and the people have always been this way. I don't know why expected it to be any different now.

I urge everyone who will listen to please just be a little nicer. If someone doesn't understand or agree with something, don't refer to it as crying or whining. If you see someone in need of help, offer them some advice with a cheery attitude, don't kick dirt on their face and call them a noob.

I made the decision before I submitted this troll post that based on the response I got, It would decide whether I quit or kept playing epic duel, and I'm sorry to say I quit. You get called names when you win, your a noob if you lose. You get called an idiot if give your opinion. You start a ten page argument if you make a suggestion. Balance doesn't exist and never has or will. This game just isn't fun any more. The player base doesn't grow, it's just the same people who have always been here because no one is willing to help out new players. Epic duel is dying. All of my friends quit for the same reasons as I am. I've said enough. I hope everyone considers improving their attitude to make it more enjoyable for anybody that's left.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:07:46)

I don't see the problem I see a very creative tactic that you did not account for and I applaud whoever used it on you for thinking outside of the box in this cookie cutter game. Good show man good show

NDB -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:11:40)

There's nothing wrong with it! Iv'e done it many times myself. Also, back when TLM Artillary Strike/support builds were dominating, EVERYONE used it. People lost because they got crit and gave the other player enough to multi. Many people used the Atom and Rage trick you describe. It was actually pretty hilarious.

Stabilis -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:23:13)

If they do not attack, they do not gain any rage whatsoever. Except for 5 points of rage if you hit them. 5 out of 125, not much compared to 20-40 points gained from attacking. So, he won, and that is impressive.

fhiz -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:23:29)

How is it funny? Prolonging a battle and winning when they should have lost due to something that shouldn't be in the game. Energy draining in it self is broken and cool downs are there for a reason. Skipping turns should not be a way to win battles.

This applies to me as well. I shouldn't be allowed to sit around with rage waiting until they give me enough energy to plasma bolt.

@depressed void

I don't think you understand. It was towards the end of the battle and I had rage, but my opponent skipped 2 turns so I didn't get enough energy through reroute to use a plasma bolt so I had to waste my rage on my sidearm. Then he used atom smasher so I could do nothing besides 3 damage. that's how he won.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:28:09)

The funny part is that you are complaining about a viable tactic it is even used in normal warfare throughout history. If you wait and you hold your resources for when they are needed you can make better use of them and Energy is a resource and he saved it until he needed it to defeat you. The man is a tactician even if it is an old tactic

Xendran -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:29:27)

This isn't a problem, it's called battling somebody who actually uses itelligent tactics.

Stabilis -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:38:15)

I carry Assimilation at level 9 so this would not affect me in the same situation. If you look at the previous turns, he played it so that the situation would unfold as it did, and gained a trump card. He sounds skilled Fhiz, no offence to you. None at all, it may be possible that a skip turn button is in order.

fhiz -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:39:01)

He wasn't withholding any resources. He was neglecting to hit me while I beat him with a stick doing 3 damage each time. The "withholding resources" tactic Should only work if your not under fire yourself.

Lets go back to the wild west. We both have a pistol with one shot in it. We stand back to back then take ten paces. On the count of three we turn around, I fire and hit you square in the chest, but you decide to keep your bullet for later. There's one problem, you're dead....

That's what I have a problem with. If someone neglects to fight back then realistically they would be at a disadvantage, but in the fight I described in my first post, not attacking gave him the advantage which is undeniably backwards.

King Helios -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:40:18)

With you.

There's one problem: you fire Nerf bullets as he loads his gun and shoots you with a .9.

By this, I mean, as you have little STR (Presumably), you will be doing as much harm as a nerf bullet, and his devastating attack = .9 bullet.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:40:53)

I would be mad, but hearing about it, I say he used STRATEGY
He changed his plan to accommodate what he needed to do to beat you

Waxor9001 -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:41:51)

This isn't a problem, I do that sometimes too , when it can make me win.

fhiz -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:44:33)

There are many battles I would have won if I had skipped a turn to rage my plasma bolt. It wasn't an after thought. I knew that would have allowed to me to win at the time, but I made a conscious decision not to do it because I believe it is an unfair way of playing the game.

D.v.D. -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:47:10)

^but hey, real life isn't turn based..and one can cheat to shoot before ten steps.

fhiz -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:48:02)

If you agree to be in a duel, then your not the kind of person to cheat.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:48:40)

@Fhiz at the same time I can hold my bullet and you miss then aim up an gun you down which is how your fight went down and if you go even farther back it is how Alexander Hamilton died, in a round about way he missed on purpose and then got gunned down.

So it is the same game of chance we play when we use heal, will they do enough damage to make the heal pointless, well in this case he gambled that he could hold off long enough to use a second atom smasher and not get killed. If you had critted or even blocked his strike his gamble would have been for not. It was a matter of chance and in this case it was normal no luck that ruined you.

So you got out skilled it is the end of the discussion next time keep an E booster or add Assim to your build and the problem can be solved. Boosters, no matter how noobish everyone says they are, are a tactical move that can make or break a battle.

Stabilis -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 20:50:54)

Unfair advantage? Who is expoiting bugs or boosters when the other person does not have them? Opting to not act is still a choice as well an option, to utilize the best option without creating unnecessary sacrifices is wisdom.

Xendran -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:16:51)

It;s not unfair, this is meant to be a strategic game. Don't whine because you got outsmarted.

I guarantee you that you can find videos of me where i skip turns.

midnight assassin -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:24:26)

It's tactics. There are times even if my enemy uses dm, I spam physical so I can rage faster.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:24:51)

i tend to equip 1 energy and 1 health boosters every battle and i would do the same like skipping turns to win, seriously if u were him and u got 2 choices. attak for the mage to gain energy to rage plasma or wait 2 turns for u to win. i think u too would choose the second option

fhiz -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:24:59)

quote:

@Fhiz at the same time I can hold my bullet and you miss

^lets turn these into hypothetical people as well because, not to sound cocky, but I don't miss. [:D]

Before the hate on me gets any worse....Trolololol......In the situation I described in my first post, I was the tactical mercenary and my opponent was a tech mage.

But wait, there was a point to this. I do honestly feel bad for skipping turns in order to use atom smasher and win the fight. It really does seem kind of cheap to me. Even when I'm playing on my tm alt, I will withhold rage to use it on a plasma bolt which doesn't seem fair either.

And it really doesn't feel good when you see this

*****[KO]:noob
*****[KO]:Luck
*****[KO]:loser

All I wanted to know was if other people did this and if feeling bad for it was a legit response. I didn't come right out and say this because......well you gotta have a little fun. I am a little disappointed at the response I got. (words hurt![:(] ) I thought at least one person would be on my side. But that's off topic.

Thanks everyone for assuring me I'm not a jerk for doing this!

midnight assassin -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:30:40)

In my opinion no one is calling you looser rather than we want to correct you on this thread. We are not in beta anymore btw so many players are learning in this game.

Mother1 -> RE: Major problem (8/31/2012 21:35:10)

Sorry to say this, but you just got outsmarted. He knew what he needed to do and he did what he had to do to win. I have seen stuff like this done before as well. heck I even used did tactics like this as well to get the right move I needed for my rage.

Also you can't forget this is a game, and people are competitive. They will do what it takes to win, and honestly I would have done the same thing he did to you if it meant I would win. Epic duel is like a game of chess if you think about it. You got to see what your moves are, and you got to plan several steps ahead.

However if they insult you and call you bad names or something like that then I would get upset too. I run into those types and it get on my nerves when they are complete (bad word here).

However all I can tell you is prepare better and have fun.

Wow, you Lost with 2 Free turns? o.O

I Dont see The problem, Just:

Sorry to say this, but you just got outsmarted.

And I also think that there SHOULD BE a 3 DMG Blockable Buttom and a Skipp Buttom.
