So yeah my question is no matter how much defense you have if the other person has good strength your screwed? because I know there are people with about anywhere from 30-40 strength and I have about 21-26 defense and their doing 23-27 dmg with a hit if defense doesn't really work towards getting attacked then why have it?

Your defense helps. What if you had 0-0 defense? They'd be hitting 50s on you. Now THAT would be unpleasant. Take the 25s instead of the 50s.

I have 30-35 def/res +5+1 with armor and i have two more defensive abilities so even if they increase their str even more they hit 3 on me, unless its a massacre cant counter those as well with a high def. Rage does not help either. But the best way to counter a str build is to be able to withstand their attacks, they usually have very low def/res in exchange for that high str and hp.

I don't use defense
Unless it's a str bounty hunter, then I use my defense matrix which, with my support build, adds 40 defense

I have 28-34 +5 +1 Defense & 29-35 +5 +1 Resistance, with 16-20 +34 Primary damage as a Bounty Hunter.

I tank and have a pretty nice damage output and Health regen. :)

not necessarily i mean when i was a bm i had about 100 plus strengh and the other person has 20-24 defense yet he blocked 3 times so yeh.

The reason why you feel this way is because, Blood mages are so rampant that it's not even funny. It's actually more rampant than the bubonic plague. To make matters worse there are rogue bounty hunters and tech mages with super charge, is seems as though we need more defense to counter these guys.

I find STR BH cut through your defenses like crazy they not only by bass your defenses with their high STR they have SC to make them so much damage and regaining so much HP from BL because they are doing so much damage.

Currently, having high amount of def is proven to be useless. You are still damaged and quickly the player with high amount of power will rage and there is no way of you countering in time.
As a mercenary, i have an hard time trying to kill these people, just a small critical and the game is already decided.

I had a possible solution on that in which i posted serval times on the balance thread. It got ignored from both players and staff, pretty much like any other suggestion i guess.
Which was to make at some point of the str (which is op)to increase the chance of others to deflect and block. [>:]

Well I guess the game just has some bugs because I'm tired of getting someone who has the same thing as me using it and do about 19dmg with me having better resistance then them and yet when I take theirs down mine does about 15-16 dmg so just saying this game has its bugs about the only time you see me beat someone is if their def and resis is super low which is kinda stupid if you ask me I dont feel the hole battle is judged just by one attribute which is strength o this person has 5 more strength then you which means hes going to do 5 more dmg with the same weapon you have.

Matter of fact I am a mage and I think the plasma bolt should have the 20% resistance ignore and not the last freaking spell you can learn thats kind of a low blow if you ask me towards mages we have to wait till we get enough points to get to it shoot bounty hunters right off the bat their first skill ignores 20% def and mercs their bazooka ignores the def just saying a big low blow right there if you ask me....

Typically, with my Bounty Hunter, I use builds that maximizes my chance percentages (mainly block, stun, and deflect) against most opponents. However, with the crappy battle mechanics that limit the percentages, my opponents always have a greater chance to ignore my chances than I do to have them work. Because of this, I've had countless battles in which opponents don't get blocked when they should, don't get deflected when they should, and don't get stunned when they should. So I think the problem lies not in the defense altogether, but in the obviously flawed battle mechanics.

Also, they should really consider doing something about that Plasma Bolt. I've already suggested increasing the energy cost or making it deflectable.

@Drekon: Paying EP for a skill being able to deflect is not a good idea. If that happened, the Fireball must be the same. The easiest solution to solve the problem is to make it a little less powerful than Fireball since they have Technician to compensate.

Kittycat as much as that would help they was a reason why they buff it to what it was now. Tech mages were getting their butts kicked especially at the lower levels so they buffed it up along with plasma rain. However they did they didn't think this it would be overpowered. Making it weaker then fireball would hurt the really low level tech mages who rely on this move. So as it was said before make the Plasma bolt on par with the fireball and add a stat requirement. The she same should be done with Plasma rain since it powers up too easily with dex.

I agree lower the plasma bolt but they should give it the 20% ignore just to even it out because I'm to the point where if I dont put malfunction on them first the bolt does crappy even with the malfunction I'm still finding my self only doing about 39 dmg. But I still say that strength shouldn't be powerful as it is a guy with 40 strength tends to do about 29 dmg on me when they strike me thats my thought of the matter.

Ok just now her Resit was down to 2-5 with +7 my plasma only did 30 dmg are you kidding me I can do that much dmg to a person who has 7-8 resit I quite this game a long time ago because it seemed like if you didn't put money into epic duel you wasn't going to win which actually to this very day is true once you get to level 27 you have a 1 in a million chance of getting a person you can beat I think this game should really make some changes.

(flaming contented omitted ~eVentus) I just got killed by a douche who had a max level buncker zooka or whatever its called and does his pretty little 3 hits and kills me 35 dmg to me and with 20-24 deff with +4 now tell me how thats fair this is bull crap screw you epic duel why dont you make your game fair rather then bring new items out gosh dang more important things then getting money.

At that level, tech mage is the strongest class
Max malf and plasma bolt at that level destroy
My friend had a 95% win rate at that level with that simple strategy
If you can;t figure out how to win, that's your fault, not the game's
