Stabilis -> RE: Just what is a varium? (10/10/2012 11:32:07)

Back to actual reasoning... varium in nature is some mythical compound (a crystal) made of some mythical element that we call varium element. Varium is radioactive, as radioactive as uranium in a natural state. Varium releases unmatched quantities of energy that can be used to power machinery. Varium works like battery cells, a node and anti-node can be joined by a circuit to flow energy through a conductive wire into an output. For energy weapons in EpicDuel, that output can be a conductive blade or a resistor that charges the metal to be either hot... or charged with electrons, ready to jump, causing a shock of static or dynamic proportions depending on the flow (amperage) of electrons or where the electricity enters. If it enters your brain you might lose memory or potentially die due to failure to communicate nervous message throughout the body... stopping the lungs or heart from working for example. Varium in a solid state, varium-187 + varium-185 for example (187 and 185 electrons per atom... respectively), excites the pleasure cortex of our brains, and as been stated known to cause varium addiction, causing sufferers to feel the need to ingest or touch varium for satisfaction. I wish this helps. I made up the properties myself though. Edit: I had almost forgotten, I said varium was radioactive. Varium releases a large amount of energy because it is radioactive. This means that the varium atom (the most smallest form of varium) is breaking down into smaller more stable atoms that are not radioactive such as carbon or silver for example. The atoms decay by gamma decay, wherein the atom releases electrons and neutrons at the same time causing the unstable atom to fall apart. I won't talk about subatomic particles since they are not relevant to varium discussion, but that is how varium is energized and radioactive.
