Midnightsoul -> New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 11:00:38)

So it's the same equation like the old deflection, but it's called ricochet.

My idea is that when the person is hit by a gun, auxiliary, or whatever is deflectable, it is now also able to be ricochet, but instead, it's in Support so deflecting and ricocheting does NOT have to happen at the same time. Actually, it CAN'T happen at the same time.

Player 1's turn.

Player 1: Uses Auxiliary

Player 2: Takes 38 damage (100% dmg) *ricochets*

Player 1: Takes 10 damage (25% of the dmg)

Player 2's turn.

So it's like the Thorns that you use from the Bio Borg, but there's a chance and it can only be used with deflectables

Promaster -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 12:40:02)

If that would happen in a battle where for example,

Player 1 has 1 hp and Player 2 has 10 hp. Player 1 uses gun/aux for 20 damage, meaning he'll kill Player 2, but when "ricochet" procs for Player 2, wouldn't both players die? If so, what happens next?

Well, I think what should happen is that ricochet cant kill the player. (like poison)

I like the basic idea of it because it gives players a reason to use support a bit more.

ND Mallet -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 20:15:24)

Make it lower chance than deflection and call it Recoil instead(because I find it more believable that happens rather than parts of the attack flying back at you).

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 20:21:16)

if it is like Thorns then it would not be able to kill the attacker so I can support that but I know it will lead to some people complaining more about luck then they already do

Mr. Black OP -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 22:04:14)

@nd
All guns have recoil and it really doesn't hurt the person holding the gun, so ricochet is more believable since the bullet could bounce off armor and hit the shooter (it is possible).

ND Mallet -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 22:09:18)

@black OP I just find it more likely to have recoil damage occasionally(because you may not always be ready for it) rather than ricochet since we're close enough as it is that it's very likely for ricochet to happen now(we're what, 6-5 feet away and launching explosive rounds at each other? Is that not a guaranteed ricochet scenario already?)

Stabilis -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 22:15:25)

It does not make sense for energy weapons, but explosive turtles (shells) from physical Sidearms and Auxiliaries does make sense.

Honestly for this suggestion though, the number of turns per battle is low. Less than 5 minutes or 30 (!) seconds for a 1 on 1 match is preposterous for a strategy game. As this suggestion potentially upholds this hole in EpicDuel PVP, I am not willing to support this suggestion.

Now, if this was a user controlled figure (not random selection)... I would be more probable to support this.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/20/2012 22:18:48)

@Black OP most normal people draw and then steady up their grip before firing which really stops you from being injured but in game we draw and fire all in one move which could lead to some jacked up wrists.

Of course with trained fighters such as the fighters of Delta V this would be a rarity so the recoil chance would have to be equal or less then the deflect rate

Midnightsoul -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/21/2012 0:47:19)

Perhaps the chance should be lower than delection, but yes, I was assuming Ricochet can not kill the opponent because you can not tie in ED.

ND Mallet -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/23/2012 8:47:58)

It wouldn't work to have it kill the opponent but assuming the % to occur lowers then this could be used to keep str builds better in check with their guns if they have to worry about deflects and Recoil(don't care, calling it that anyways. It makes more sense than ricochet hurting you randomly when you're 6 ft away and using explosive weaponry).

classifiedname -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/23/2012 11:25:14)

a recoil or what ever you want to call it sounds like it would fit this game well

supported

deltaknight7 -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/25/2012 20:23:09)

block takes away all damage deflect takes away half the damage recoil makes them take 25% damage i think its a little weak but i do like the idea

Drianx -> RE: New feauture for Support (10/26/2012 3:35:41)

Some nice ideas in this thread.

Let's compare this with Critical strike. Critical can occur with melee and ranged attacks, this can only occur with ranged. At low HP this won't work. I would rather want to see it work wil any kind of attack, and be just as effective with low and high HP.

Furthermore, it's unrealistic. How would someone's support make his opponent's firearms Recoil?

Apart from these aspects, I support a new benefit for Support.
