Raik -> So,what do i do now? (11/1/2012 16:21:44)

I REALY want to change my name to Raik. (my OS name) But sone guy has it. But he is new (his title says new but he joined in 2010) and he only has 1 post. Is there anything i can do?

I'm afraid not. I remember seeing a post by Seahawk (I think) discussing how accounts won't be deleted (or re-named in this case) in-case the member does eventually want to return to the forums.

Your best option is to use your desired name, Raik, but add something to it. For example, Raik the Evil.
When you have decided on a new name you just have to PM Seahawk to request it.

Actually if Seahawk thinks it's fine then he could change your username to a name that's already taken.

I remember seeing in Wind's MtAK thread he said that his name was Wind24, I think, but he had gotten Seahawk to change it to Wind even though it was taken.

At the risk of opening myself up to a flood of "Ooh, can you give me so-and-so's name; he's inactive!" messages....

As a general rule, I do not re-assign an account name that's already in use, especially if that account is banned or has a significant post history. There is also a list of names we have reserved that can't be used (certain NPC names, for example) that I won't free up for name changes.

However, I will occasionally make exceptions... for example: if there's an account that has been idle for several years, has never posted, and has only logged in once on the day the account was created I will consider allowing someone else to use that name. I have also re-used the names of banned multi accounts, but that's generally reserved for when the person who is requesting the name change is also the person who made the multi account and they initially created a multi instead of requesting a name change.

Just a question Seahawk, if you're giving someone a username that is already taken, do you email or try to contact the owner of the account before doing it?
