Geek -> "You can't post two consecutive messages in such a short period of time" (11/10/2012 21:51:55)

Heya.

While PMing my buddy a REALLY long Pm, I clicked send a once again got this:

quote:

"You can't post two consecutive messages in such a short period of time"

And I had to retype.

What is the point of that and can I change it/turn it off at all?

Thanks!

It's to prevent spamming and flooding mainly but it can catch you when you just need a few sentences to get your point across. I've been caught by it a lot so I've tried to keep my posting down some and give it enough time between posts.

Ah okay thanks. Is there a way to make the time a little less?

Also, how much time do I need to wait to be able to post again?

There isn't a specific time, but every minute, it resets.

For example, if you post at 1:54:01, you need to wait until 1:55:00 to post again. If you post at 1:54:58, you only need to wait until 1:55:00 to post.

I'm pretty sure this is how it works, but I might be getting confused with how the edit system works. However it might be the same for both.

By the way, if you occur with an accidental "short period of time" error... you may be able to save your message + content by going back a page. Reverting to a cached web page in your browser history can recover previous content that was loaded during your recent use of the web. For example, sometimes I can go back one page and result in a page with a form on it with my info filled out because that was the info I entered when I was last on that page.
