One Winged Angel1357 -> How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 15:08:15)

Well I just got a PM from a fellow forums member and I won't say what it was about but he called me a pro player and in all honesty that got a laugh out of me because to me I am no pro but it made me wonder how do my fellow players define a pro on Delta V.

So there you have it how do you define a pro player? Discussi-ON

STRUT MY MUTT -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 15:29:02)

Your not a Pro unless you're getting paid for it...at least that's was always my understanding of 'pro'.

Probably Epic Duel Pro just means you're considered in the elite group of top players, the best of the best.

8x -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 15:42:01)

People usually just call any well known or leaderboard players pros. And I think that is just ridiculous. Almost anyone with full varium gear can be a "pro" nowadays.

The real pros were people back in beta, before the enhancements, who were actually creating their own builds and knew how to use them depending on the situation.

Yup, most people don't know that and think that pros are elite/legendary players.

Midnightsoul -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 15:47:47)

Someone with a heart to make a valuable build and to play.

Mother1 -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 16:01:48)

Someone who can actually come up with their own builds and use them to win. Anyone who copy builds I can't consider a pro in my book.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 16:18:52)

The only "pros" in this game are the Devs. We the players are the fools, no player is a "pro" because as classes get nerfed the player is forced to class change.

Mysterion. -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 16:21:44)

8x,

So if youre not out of beta you cant be a pro?
or am i reading this wrong?

But i agree with you all about the copiers.
Lots of people just copies someone elses build because they have a good battle record.

Stabilis -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 16:23:33)

A player is a player.

Someone mentioned that some players might be employed to play? Hmm, really? EpicDuel?

That was just an example. I had in mind few people that really did some amazing things back in the good old days.

@Angels I have to disagree with you there. I have stood by my Mage since '09 constantly changing builds but rarely changing gear and even after all of the balance I still have found ways to make my mage work no matter what nerfs are released by the Dev team

Drianx -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 17:51:12)

For me, the ultimate elite is a player who still plays hard and enjoys the game after 3 years without ever putting one dime into it. His char name is JariTheMighty.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 17:57:35)

A professional, esp. in sports: "a tennis pro".
An advantage of something or an argument in favor of a course of action: "the pros and cons of joint ownership".
Adjective:
(of a person or an event) Professional.
Preposition:
In favor of.
Synonyms:
noun. professional
adjective. professional
preposition. for - per

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 18:06:35)

Blaze if I had been thinking I would have said not to do what you just did but too late for that now

Wootz -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 20:15:31)

Someone who knows what he or she is doing, making great builds that aren't a copy of someone elses. Someone doesn't care if he'll win or lose and doesn't class hope after balance tweeks.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 20:51:56)

You gotta be on the forums.

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 23:01:23)

I think everyone is a pro in their own way. But my definition of an Epicduel Pro is someone who has defined themselves and is known for something certain. For example, I defined myself in Beta.

Nub Apocalypse -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 23:23:33)

Pro means rich.

f4tal1tY -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 23:26:57)

In my opinion, pro is defined when a player has achieved something extraordinary for their character, such as defeating all Cheevo NPCs at lvl 25 or smthg.

Stabilis -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/17/2012 23:28:47)

If you say "professional" is a title, then you also have to say "unprofessional" is a title, because it is only relevant relative that you have an opposite. Because I can not call a single person "unprofessional" (because who does that help anyways?), I do not support ranking people as professional. Do you really want to see some of your newbie friends being called non-professional things by "professionals"? This only divides the community, and a divided community produces less than a whole community made up of all of the divided communities.

arthropleura -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 0:07:01)

I think anyone who wins a crudload more than they win is pretty pro.

f4tal1tY -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 0:14:17)

@above i think you mean a crudload more than they lose :P

Metallico -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 0:57:05)

A player that plays for fun, that creates his own build and literally fights till death

ashtonsdad -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 1:15:57)

I have been in this game along time, and in my time here in epic duel i have come to realize that a "pro", at least in my book, is someone that understands the mechanics, as well as the mathematics of this game, can create unique builds and use them well. But more importantly then actual game play abilities, is the player that is willing to help others learn the game, to better appreciate it and have a more enjoyable time here in epic duel. Someone that supports the game and helps build it up by being positive and doing what's right even if no one else sees it. A player that is willing to stand for what's right and report exploiters, and those that would display behavior that is otherwise constructive to the growth of our community here on Delta V. Yes, that's a "pro" to me, cheers to all and happy hunting!

RageSoul -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 2:10:09)

A pro would be someone who ..

* Knows when to trash-talk and when not to
* Doesn't care about the "flow"
* Strives first , complains later
* Understands some things
* Enjoys his build and knows how to do it

Plus , everything what the others said .

PivotalDisorder -> RE: How do you define "Pro" players in EpicDuel (11/18/2012 4:07:19)

only those who make a living are pros. and many who could be considered top players are so caught up in their
elitist drama, that they throw it away by build copying, class/build hopping and being borderline nasty in game.

does grinding 15 npc wins an hour reduces a players greatness? especially if they are doing it to artificially boost their 1v1 record.
