~+Prologue+~

The month is "Dawn-Reich", The Sun is beginning to set, and A weary adventurer seeks shelter from the Harsh cold of the night in a nearby cave. The man sets his pack on the floor and begins to take a seat next to it. He stares out the mouth of the cave into the passing night. "It seems especially Dark tonight" he said almost in a whisper. As the night passed and the moon moved farther into the sky he began to notice a slight blue glow off into the distance. Curious he got up and began to walk towards the light. As he began to approach the light his vision began to blur and he started to hear what sounded like whispering. Whispering so silent he could just barely make out the words 'Tenebrae' and 'Lux'. "What do these words mean!?" He said in almost a scream and feel to his knees. To his surprise. The voices stopped and all that he could see in the cave was the blue glow in front of him. Upon closer inspection he noticed it was a book. He reached out for it, but the book was so cold, that it burnt his skin at the touch. He cried out in pain. And to his surprise, he reached out again. This time, taking hold of the book and examining the cover. It had a picture of a Strange amulet on the Cover and the letter "M" engraved into it. "What....is this...?" He murmured, turning the cover to reveal the first page...

I. The White Elf

quote:

21st of Fellbuchet

My name, is Lysander. I am an elf from the city of Animare. I have recently joined the order of the LuxBlade. The group of knights assigned to guard the queen with their lives. And as all other knights, I am ordered to keep a journal of my travels in order to keep myself sane. As the toils of War and Death can be Psychologically scarring to a normal soldier, so we write to ourselves in an attempt to keep sane. (Twas' an order of the Queen herself after several LuxBlades committed suicide last year after witnessing the Death of their platoon).

It is in this journal I shall write all of my tales, through Light and Dark, Good and Bad, Life and Death. It shall all be told here, and through this, maybe the readers of a later day will know my fate, and of what I have, and will become...

Today I received my first assignment, I am to Deliver a Parcel to a town to the East called "FalconReach". FalconReach? That sounds....familiar. I have probably heard tales from the villagers, nothing important probably. The Parcel contains a very powerful Reagent called "Umbras-nape". It's said to be able to draw in the Darkness from an entire plane of existence if placed in the wrong hands, So I must deliver this to the Towns Mayor, forth whence, He will place it in the Towns treasury and seal it away forever.

Along the way I came to an open field. In the Center of the field was a tower. A tower so large that from the ground I could not see the top. I looked for an opening as so that I could explore it more. I eventually came across a locked door, and when I reached out to touch it, something magnificent happened! Five lights shot out from what I assumed to be the tip of the tower! One Green, One White, One Gold, One Blue, and One Black. As each beam shot by I could feel a name being said in my head. "Balance", "Light", "Mastery", "Water", and there was one more, but I couldn't quite understand what it was saying. As each light shot out though, a smaller tower formed in mockery of the large tower I had stumbled upon. What a sight it was indeed!

On my Journey to FalconReach I came across another town.....well make it two towns....In the Sky.... They seemed to be having a war? I looked out over a nearby hill and saw what seemed to be, The Undead, Giant Metal Monsters, and Humans all fighting to the death amongst themselves. I decided to help in whatever way I could and not knowing which side to take I immediately began to strike at the undead of which my kind so very dreaded.

Eventually, I was told that the second town, which seemed to be floating on the back of a Giant Dracoliche, wasn't a town at all. But a Fortress, the fortress of an evil overlord named Sepulchure. And the actual town was called "Popsprocket". And it was apparently inhabited by the Gnomes who created the Metal Monstrosities. I later asked a soldier why they were fighting the monsters then. He simply replied "Because we must" before he was struck down by an arrow and lay bleeding to death at my feet. What have I gotten myself into?

I've been fighting this battle for days now. The humans can't seem to understand my accent as well as I had though, but in the midst of chaos, who could blame them? Instead of Lysander they Refer to Me as 'The DarkMessenger', more than likely referring to the color of the cloak I wear to cover my armor.

Me and a Group of nearly Nine other Soldiers have formed together to enhance our strength. Amongst our group is a Muscular Warrior Named Drake, A Lovely Mage named Dornalca, and What appears to a Half-Beast named Hermoor. We named our group "The Beacons of Hope" in a form of memory of the towers I had seem in weeks past.

I don't know what it is, but the name "Beacons of Hope", rings with power. Did the Avatars give me the sight of that tower for this very reason? Or am I just going insane? Either way, whenever one of us says the name. a barrier of light seems to protect us from the infliction of our foes. Surely this is no mere coincidence!

The Memories I've had with The Beacons up until now, Will never fade from my mind...

We've done it! This War is over! The Orb Sepulchure was searching for had been secured, and the town was safe. For now anyways. The Beacons and I had made our base in the Towers I had found earlier in my journey. After telling Drake the Story of the Towers, he more than insisted we set our base there. I was reluctant at first but after some convincing, I was finally talked into taking them there. To My surprise Dornalca was able to simply walk up to the Gate of the Main tower and Touch it, causing the lock to shatter and fall to the ground. And not just that, once the shards hit the ground, the soil underneath seemed to absorb the shards. How amazing this was indeed...

I bid my farewells to the group, and told them that I still had my Parcel to deliver. They all told me that they knew the way to FalconReach and would gladly show me the way to the town. On one condition...I had to stay and serve as their leader...

Already having swore my vows as a LuxBlade to the queen, I couldn't possibly stay on this continent. But, I had to find my way to the Town. So I told them I would stay for as long as possible. They seemed satisfied and showed me the way. Now just to deliver the.....Oh no.....Where is it!?

The 'Umbras-nape'! It is missing! Oh no, Oh no...What should happen to this world if this Sepulchure fellow were to have gotten his hands on it!? This entire world is as good as over...and it's all my fault...No...It can't be over yet....I must return to the battlegrounds of Popsprocket! Maybe it fell out of my Satchel! Yes, that's it! It must be there!

I managed to sneak out of the Inn, where the lovely heroes had bought me a room, this morning. Their wasn't much security in the place, I will surely have to inform the innkeeper of this hence my return. I rode one of the travel Gryphons back to Popsprocket and quickly made my way down the large chains holding the city to the ground, where the battle had taken place earlier in the month.

I searched for what seemed like a millennium through the Metal pieces, the bones and the bodies. I once came upon a Dark-Haired man sitting on his knees clenching something in his hands. My immediate thought was that he had the Nape. So I grabbed the man by his shoulder and threw him to the ground Thrusting my knife to into his throat. As he lay dieing, Instead of the sight of greed or Anger in the man's eyes as I had expected, I saw tears. In his hands was not the Umbras-Nape, no, but a woman's body laying lifeless on the ground with a large hole under her breast. There was no Blood-Flow, she couldn't have died recently.

What have I done?

What had I done? I have slain an innocent man, and still I do not know the location of the Umbras-Nape. I have failed my first mission. As simple a task as could be! I was to journey to a small Nymph-Shack of a town and give the Reagent to the Mayor! Twas' all I was ordered to do, and I couldn't even do that...I've lost it...And if this world should end tonight....I would be to blame...

There is nothing much to do now but return to Animare and Face my punishment. I never even got to lay my eyes upon the Lady in which I swore to protect. And now, My eyes shall be gouged out, and my head shall roll at the strike of Metal on wood. I shall set off tomorrow. The Beacons must not know of my fate, so I must leave early as to not be seen.
