Vypie -> RE: Removing losses? (12/10/2012 17:10:24)

@Depressed Void

I remember suggesting something similar to that a few months ago. But it was not a 1 day ratio. Many players don't play that much each day for it to mean something. Many times I can't play more than 10/20 battles a day because of work.
It would instead represent a ratio% based on your last 200 fights

Stabilis -> RE: Removing losses? (12/10/2012 18:55:05)

I would say that that ^ is fine too.

Most of the argument you guys are making why loses should be removed are in a way irrelevant. No removing losses will not make player not jump to op builds, it will not make players not copy peoples build, it will not change anything but make this a sad excuse for Pvp. the reason why players use oped builds is not because the don't want there losing ratio to go up, as a matter of fact a lost is just a number, but the feeling of losing/ to continue to lose is why people jump to Oped builds, because the don't like losing (not getting +1 lost added to their record). What am trying to say is that it wouldn't matter if you removed losses on the game, players will use Oped builds just so the can win, because the feel you get when you win is much greater than the one you get when you lose, or even worst to continue losing). Have you ever played in a league where every one makes playoffs? being named MVP in that league is most likely not the same as being named MvP on a league that only the best teams makes playoffs. if you remove losses from this game, then the competitive side of it that makes it a PVp game (and different from aQW or all AE games) will significantly decrease; for those of you that left AQW, this is the reason why, not because of the enhancement system the have(which if I may say is really good). personally speaking I know that I will most likely quit if losses are removed.

Remove losses? This is madness! <-- insert SPARTA joke here -->

If that happens, we will no longer enjoy the moments when a bug swaps our wins and losses. Faction leaders will no longer be able to quickly assess a potential recruit's effectiveness. I'm not sure if someone else mentioned it, as I didn't bother to read all the comments here, but there is no stopping players from calling others noobs. You could have the best Win/Loss ratio and they will still call you a noob.

Sorry, but I don't support this.

You call this sparta?
No.
This is

Well, okay back to topic. This is quite good thing to discuss. Personally, I get distracted alot by loses. Most of time its fine if I lose to someone with superior build and/or skills. However when I lose "unfairly" for example, opponent gets very lucky (read: Block, deflect, crit, repeat), it drives me crazy. Also its not fun to lose due to high difference between me and enemy. Like countering 5 levels higher enemy in 1v1. Or encountering Juggs in 2v2.

Maybe give us opinion to hide our Battle Records?

arthropleura -> RE: Removing losses? (12/12/2012 18:15:09)

This would kinda destroy the whole PvP idea. It would make the game too.. relaxed? Turn based games are relaxed enough already...
It'd be cool but i cant support this, if people play itll just be to play, not to win and everyone plays to win..

RageSoul -> RE: Removing losses? (12/13/2012 0:16:41)

Just showing wins and not losses won't make people "too relaxed" . In fact , there are players that too competitive , that they want MOAR wins than what they're expected .

goldslayer1 -> RE: Removing losses? (12/13/2012 0:47:58)

@arth
all time boards? wins
dailies? wins
Faction Dailies? Wins

the game is already based on wins, we get no reward or anything for having less wins and higher %.

legion of souls -> RE: Removing losses? (12/13/2012 0:53:34)

@Pallosalama'

I kind of like the ability to hide our battle records.

Lycus -> RE: Removing losses? (12/13/2012 5:20:33)

Going to lock this up, because firstly, it'll likely turn in to flaming, and secondly, the suggestion partly destroys the purpose of the game, along with causing multiple other issues.

To start off with, the point of EpicDuel is to be a PvP game, where you enjoy the game by battling other players win or lose. One thing we are putting an emphasis on in Omega is the balance between Varium and Non-Varium players, to make things much more fair for both and also to make sure that only PvP battles therefore effect your record. This means it is all about your class, build, weapons and stat placement on how your win record looks. You can choose to battle NPCs a lot to earn credits to make sure you do much better in battle by always having enough to upgrade your gear, or you can choose to play through the game without NPCs. Usually the case will be that those who spend the extra time gaining credits will have the better gear, more chances to change builds and find one that works, therefore have a much higher chance of a better win record. This suggestion would destroy all of that, which is part of the main purpose of the game, the same way K/D is a main part of COD.

You also have the fact that if you have no losses, you have no reason to battle NPCs for credits, no reason to upgrade your weapons, no reason to do anything of the sort, just simply battle and hope to battle someone of lower level that you may potentially beat. However if you have someone higher who beats you, it does not matter, you do not even have to try since losing now means nothing. It makes half the PvP system pointless.

At the end of the day, fine, you may not be great at battling and have a high amount of losses. Yes, you may not have a win record as good as the guy you are battling, or talking to in Oz, but at the same time, that gives you something to work on, to persevere and try harder for. If your losses mean that much to you that you hate the feature, just ignore their existence, do not pay attention to them, don't worry about what others think, as long as you are trying your best in battle, it does not matter what your win record looks like, it's how much you know you have tried. Due to the fact they are one of the main parts of the game, we will not be removing losses, however it is completely your choice whether you take them to heart or not.
