ckend -> New levels (12/15/2012 14:47:15)

Will there be new lvls like up to 40 at the start of omega?

Vagaran -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 14:49:18)

Since we aren't staff, we can't tell you that. But I highly doubt so, since the lv was raised just a few months ago.

13891389aaaaa -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 14:54:57)

It makes no sence! Only varium players with top gear at the moment would reach lvl40 within a week or 2 and then maybe 100 players in the entire game would be +5lvl for 99% of ED. There would be no competition at all and they would get 100% win without even trying... maybe 99% every few days if they get paired with another lvl40.

Mother1 -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:21:22)

No for the following reasons.

1 we haven't even had level 35 for a full 6 months yet why do we need 5 more new levels?
2 It will put players who aren't at the cap level yet even further behind.

Just wait a little while longer one, and two level them come one at a time so balance can be preserved rather then 5 levels at once.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:25:51)

Makes the game a lot more interesting. We can't pander to the people who want to take their time when it comes to leveling up.

Ranloth -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:33:58)

And we cannot cater for those who no-life the game because that should be discouraged (playing for lots of hours a day). Minority shouldn't also be catered because they are at the top level, we should focus on majority which isn't at the cap and then the minority.

I'll just say what you said but from their perspective: "We can't pander to the people who don't want to take their time when it comes to leveling up."

Mother1 -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:37:33)

@ angel

The staff themselves said that a new level wasn't going to be coming anytime soon. Also as it is right now the staff is looking at the mass majority of people right now when it comes to these things not the few over competitive people. If they did that the game would be in even worse shape then it is now if they were to threw new levels out every few months. I mean think about it the level gap is 5 levels up and down unless you are a cap level and if you were to rush and level up to the max real quick you would have an even smaller pool of players to play against since very few are at level cap or even within your range right now especially if they were to add 5 more levels off the bat right now.

If anything you would have to NPC grind if they did, and even if they are unlimited in omega they won't award wins so basically you would have to wait a really long time for duels with regular people since you would be out of their range.

Waxor9001 -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:39:10)

I agree with Trans and Mother1.

Vypie -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 15:56:36)

It would be hard to balance 5 levels added at once. It is better to increase it one by one. Easier to tweak balance each time the cap increases.

It's harder to imagine the possible power gain from extra 5 skills and 20 stat points.

ckend -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 17:55:42)

That already happens all the time Vypie. 30 against 35, 20 against 25 etc...

Vypie -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 18:10:42)

No, I'm not talking about fighting a battle against someone 5 levels lower or higher.

I'm talking about new open possibilities for Overpowered builds if 5 new levels were added at once. People would have more vast options on choosing skills, and coupled with 20 extra stats, players could end up finding and creating unexpected killer builds.

If you add one level each time, you can adjust little by little, to not cause major balance issues.

Mother1 -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 18:16:00)

@ ckend

She is talking about balance for the game so it won't be OP in battle. Adding 5 new levels at once would be extremely hard for them to balance since there are scaling attacks and 5 new levels at once could cause bigger balance issues. It would just be easier for them to work it one level at a time then to make it 5 at a time.

Also the reason why that happens is because of the level gap set up. If it was exact level all the time then it would take longer for people to find duels, and they compensate the lower levels for dueling these higher levels as well with more credits, and exp if they beat them.

Remorse -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 18:32:26)

I think once omega has settled in, balance is sorted etc.

I think it would be ok if the level cap was raised at a faster rate since items would already be catered for.

perhaps not a straight jump to 40 but say 1 level a month or something because most people who get stuck in the game are those lvl 30's that lose to 35s constantly and to say raising the level cap will make it harder for those under level is completely silly since it would do the opposite if you think about it.

If the smarter players are leveling up it gives the lower levels a chance to win more often and also decreased the player pool at the exact level cap which means they will more likely be paired with people around there level more often.

goldslayer1 -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 18:43:50)

@remorse
lvl 36 would take 1707+ battles (assuming all those battles are only wins)

who knows how much lvl 37 would be.

but 1 month sounds bad.

IMO it should stay at the same pace. too many lvls ups will lead to stat inflation.

Remorse -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 18:59:23)

^ It cant be worse then now,

level 40 would have around the same stats as the game has now...

Perhaps not one month then.

But what Im trying to get at is if each time the game adds a new level we shouldn't wait for the bulk of the players to get to that level for ages and therefore put the levels 5 level below under punishment because there is a mass player pool at that level cap.

Having such big xp requirements may be good if it helps to spread out the player levels.

If you guys are finding it hard to understand what Im getting at,

Play an alternate get to level 29, then watch how much it changes as you suddenly become level 30 and viable to verse 35s.

Vypie -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 19:01:07)

@remorse
The players that level the faster aren't necessarily the smarter ones. Sure it helps, but it depends mostly on playing time.

And by doing that you would delay the inevitable. Yes, they would find players around their level more oftern, but what would happen 5 levels after? Exactly the same current situation. They would have to face the Cap level players just as today.

If a level 30 player is struggling against level 35 players, and you increase the level cap by 5, they would not find capped players so often. But when they reach 35, they would find players of level 40.
It's the same process they would have to deal with. I have dealt with it too. Extending this would only make it more painful for them, while they could just reach the cap and then successfully keep up with each single level increase.

Remorse -> RE: New levels (12/15/2012 19:06:04)

^ I can understand that and it does make logical sence.

But I was just hoping that if we spread out the players levels we could possibly make it easy for these lower levels.

But perhaps your right, maybe we should just let them get past the hard part (getting past level 30) then join the rest of us.

RabbleFroth -> RE: New levels (12/16/2012 3:44:45)

I think before the level cap is raised we'll have to deal with some of the power creep that's been flying around for a while now.

Omega will help a lot in this department with stats and damage, but skills still present an issue.
