STRUT MY MUTT -> Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 15:33:17)

If your Ally quits during 2v2 matches, no matter what point in the match he quits, his character should remain there exactly how he left it, (i.e-same exact health and mana etc.)

But...the remaining player takes over that character. So now every time it's the quitters turn, the controls would appear for the other guy, and he would play the turn.

So he would be playing both his turn and the other guy's turn too.

The quitter's stats would still be a loss for quitting, even if the other player wins using his 'body shell'.

I think it would be easier for the Dev's to do this than create an NPC to fill in.

What think you?

^Could both of you above please explain why you do not support this idea? Just replying with "Not supported." doesn't help the OP or any other reader know why exactly you two don't find this to be a nice idea.

This is indeed a nice idea for 2vs2 but I simply don't think the developers have enough resources or time to implement this in the 2vs2 system [:)].

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 16:56:48)

Not supported - Programming would take up tooooooo much of their time

STRUT MY MUTT -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 16:58:02)

Seriously? I think it's a better idea than than an NPC with artificial intelligence filling the spot. Remember how bad of fighters the Mecha bots were during the vault? We'd rather have something like that?

Ranloth -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 17:00:21)

I believe it was Lycus who said that it'd give too much control over the other player, not mentioning programming and possibly security issues (technically, you're in control of their character). Also they were, then AI was tweaked and they were better.

Stabilis -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 17:04:38)

NPCs or other players... creating RCs (remote-controlled) adds way too many entities which creates excessive stress on the servers' multitasking duties.

Mother1 -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 17:16:03)

Not supported

For the reason tran's stated. Too much control for one person in a two vs two battle and would be abused big time especially if the person who leaves has a certain build.

ND Mallet -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 18:51:54)

Actually it was Rabblefroth that mentioned the security and difficulties of making this feature a reality but the fact still remains that it is a huge security issue to allow one player access to another's character.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 19:01:42)

I entirely support

If the players were smart, they would be able to do what the 1 player could do just as well

Which is another problem in 2v2, unintelligent and bad team mates

STRUT MY MUTT -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 20:02:19)

Hmm...I was thinking more of just controlling an empty shell of their character, not actually being on their account. Can't see how that would be a security issue.

It seems like it would be the most fair way to continue the battle. Even if the Ally accidently lost connection mid-battle, nothing would change except who is clicking the buttons.

I"m surprised so many don't support. Hope you guys can think of something better than the other existing proposed ideas.

They need to make it at least you take your partners turn so it would be:

Your turn, opponen1's turn. Your Turn, Opponent 2's turn.

etc.

Many 2v2 battles I could have still won despite the DCing partner if I simply got the extra deserved turn in between the opponents.

Pretty much my own thoughts right there, taking alternation to level 2 in a 2V1 situation.

XapApp -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 21:47:51)

Another problem is that people may force their partners to leave so they can take control of their character.

Crimson Eagle -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/29/2012 23:06:04)

@XapApp,

Exactly what I was thinking! It wouldn't be very nice. I wouldn't like my partner yelling at me to leave.
I can imagine right now, lots of swearing!

Let's just say you don't like the idea, don't make up fake problems. It's impossible to 'force' someone out of a 2v2 match.

The two team characters were already chosen at random by the computer. Therefore that certain build was already there, but maybe it lost connection or quit. It's not as if it now becomes more powerful because someone different controls it.

Remorse -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 0:38:09)

Simple solution is probably the best,

And that is if the player DCs in the first turn.
Then you get an extra turn in between your opponents turns.

No NPCs, no hard coding to make control of the other character with potential abuse.

Just reasonably simple code Im assuming to allow the player to have turns in between each of the opponents turns rather then after both the opponents turns.

STRUT MY MUTT -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 1:03:03)

I guess I can see how it might be OP from a strategy standpoint but in a lot of regards would be fair too. With Omega things will different than now anyway so I'll just put this idea to rest and wait.

Have a nice day. [8D]

Actually, it is possible. Constant abuse, threats and swearing would make anyone leave! Regardless if you're Winning/Losing. I know my examples are bit "exaggerated" but some people will/would actually do that! Especially if they were in a bad mood or just angry in general.

I must admit, it is a great idea and I like it! But there are some little flaws like these that make me disagree.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 9:01:23)

having a AI partner is fine, but controlling another player's character may lead to abuse, imagine if your partner is a OP builder and you get to take control of them, its nowhere near balanced and fair. a AI character has their own controlled skill use settings just like any other NPC so they will use energy shield if necessary or heal if necessary. so not supported

theholyfighter -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 9:18:25)

Hmm just thinking how about adding 80 health and energy to yourself
And it goes:
You
Opponent1
You
Opponent2
You
.
.
.
Might be a bit difficult to code tho

Stabilis -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 9:58:13)

That minus the extra Health plus Energy.

tad55 -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 16:23:15)

supported. this would be a better alternative, you couldn't abuse it either, you can work just as well in a regular 2v2 and a 2v2 with RC player who left.

Scyze -> RE: Here's how to fix the 2v2 quitter problem...why didnt you ask me earlier? (12/30/2012 20:54:00)

Not a good idea mate. Trans' reason is why I don't agree.
