Exploding Penguin -> RE: Useless Skills? (12/31/2012 11:14:22)

From my view, I don't find any of the skills useless, even level 1 cheap shot can really help in a pinch, particularly with interdictor. I find that leveling up certain skills past a certain level is quite pointless. Here's what I'm talking about: Cheap shot: 4% ignore from level 1-level 2 is like an extra 1 damage for one energy on most opponents. If you can actually find a fitting build, leveling up cheap shot a little can be worth it. Reroute: 1% per level after level 7...1 skill point for literally 1 energy point unless you're going for 140HP+, then it might be worth it. That'll be changed in Omega though, so let's see how it works with the new HP system. Maul: 1% stun chance extra per 2 energy points past level 7. It's pretty obvious in most cases that it's definitely not worth it Adrenaline: 1% extra rage per level after level 7. 2% was already barely anything, and now it's 1% once you reach levels 8-10 Deadly Aim: Not really a wasted skill, but a lot of people mess up with it anyways. There's an insane amount of players who don't know that level 8 deadly aim is the cap for max damage boost on level 35 guns Multi Shot: Hard enough for CH and BH to get energy, it becomes +1 damage per 2 energy after level 7. +3 damage per level up to level 5 is definitely a plus for uber dex 2v2 builds, though. Stun Grenade/Plasma Grenade: Its scaling is slow, its base damage is low, and it only gains +1 damage after level 6 (not even level 7). Overall, it's a pathetic stun and wouldn't even be worth using on most builds, but shadow arts is probably the only reason why some builds still use it. Malf/Smoke: +2 requirement points from str/supp per level, and -1 extra def/tech after level 7, and also +2 energy cost per level. Once you reach level 7, it's definitely not worth leveling up. Double Strike: +2 energy cost for +1 damage, and at its lowest level it gives +9 damage on +35 damage primaries. Even though it has 1-turn cooldown, it's typically not worth leveling up because of its high base 15 energy cost.
