Xendran -> A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 1:01:11)

If varium became universal, and every single varium purchase went to a global varium pool that every player had access too, would we run out of varium?

Do you think enough people would buy varium that people would have essentially ininite varium?

(This is NOT a suggestion, i do not think that this should be implemented under any circumstance)

Giras Wolfe -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 1:08:51)

What?

That makes no sense. Players would take the varium, use it and thus return it to the pool, sooo I guess there would be infinite varium, but...

What?

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 1:11:30)

We would cause "inexperienced" players would waste it. It would work out if ED was a p2p game.

Hard boy -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:05:01)

Whaaaaaa?
i dont get it :/

Nub Apocalypse -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:10:22)

He means say you used $50 to buy 10k varium, this varium is added to a "pool". Every single player in ED player can get varium from the pool. In other words, you're buying something for not only yourself but the rest of the world, whoever gets it first gets it, will we be selfish enough to stop buying varium because we don't want others to benefit?

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:31:17)

i must say that this is not the best idea, people who don't spend a cent to support this game gets varium for free? you want ED to go broke? no one would get varium, for those who paid $50 would be getting their varium stolen by others, we would not have infinite varium since everybody would stop getting it. with the coming omega phase, varium sales would already go down since there isn't much battle advantage for variums, the only thing thats worth getting varium for is the promo weapons and shortcuts to items, with this idea the game would surely go down.

and yes i know you don't agree with it too xendran, but why would anyone come up with this?

Giras Wolfe -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:32:42)

Centrino, youre missing the point.

I think it would be fun if everyone had varium, but yeah it wouldn't be sustainable obviously. I would still buy.

Hard boy -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:49:05)

Do u mean the the guy pays 50$ for 10k and i rip that varium off him, and he stays variumless?
or every 50$ spent everyone gets a 10k?

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 2:55:17)

how about those that don't buy? we have a massive non varium player base, and do you think that they would feel more motivated to get varium? or they would just spend other's $10-$50.
it would be fun if everyone had varium, but is it any fun for those who bought varium to let others use it? trust me there isn't enough varium to sustain everyone, we have so little varium payers and so much non varium players, they would just buy every varium stuff ingame.

no, it is just like a bank where everyone can access, so when you buy 10k varium, it automatically goes into the bank where you and everyone else can use it, even non variums. it would be gone faster than charfade's cruiser.

Clutch -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 3:29:48)

Everyone pays to benefit the community eh? Sounds a lot like socialism to me :P.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 3:33:31)

@ Clutch

Took the words right out of my mouth. This is exactly what Barack Obama is doing to the United States. Redistribution of wealth, socialism at it's finest. The entitled/victim mentality players will spend it like there's no end to tomorrow. What happens when we run out of other peoples' varium?

Drianx -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 3:44:53)

People tend to not appreciate what is easily obtainable or achievable. Therefore yes, I think the varium-o-meter will always be glued to zero, because many f2ps would just endlessly name change, class change or buy token boosters and such just because it's free.

Remorse -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 3:46:15)

I think it would last about 10 mins.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 4:30:14)

*incoherent angry shouting about politics*

Xendran -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 5:04:29)

This thread is not about real life socialism, it is simply something interesting to think about. I would never actually want it in game.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 5:20:20)

*Sits back and wonders* "How does such idea comes into your head, Xendran" :P

Anyways, its no were a good idea, but i guess theirs no harm in discussing, if it was meant to to be "Things that wont happen" Section xD

Mother1 -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 10:07:54)

If this were to happen I would never buy varium again. What is the point of paying for varium when

1 I would be paying for everyone's varium who doesn't pay

2 I would be helping the community in a way that would help me.

Varium was made to give the person who brought it an advantage whether it be power like it is now, or luxury and time like it will be in omega. It isn't so every tom dick and harry who doesn't pay a dime to the game to get the same stuff I have to pay for for free.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 10:31:08)

Actually you put up a really good question Xendran.

Either the varium would dry up in 48 hours and no one would ever buy again or the varium would become seemingly endless.

I'm not sure which would happen but I somewhat doubt there would be a middle ground

ND Mallet -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 10:40:58)

No one would buy varium because chances are they wouldn't get to use much of it because they have to race against the other several hundred players wanting to use it. Everyone would expect someone else to buy it but no one would because the other several hundred players would be spending any amounts bought before the purchaser has a chance to use it

mew626 -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 10:49:28)

If we lived in a perfect world where everyone had the same sense and mentality, this would work. Communism and socialism is a perfect government in a perfect world where everyone is equal.

But we don't live in a perfect world do we? ;)

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 11:13:14)

we all understand human psychology right? humans rather receive than give(unless the things you receive are nasty and the things you give are nasty too), so if this was implemented im 100% sure no one would get varium, and rather using the varium that is bought by others. all the varium would be gone in less than 4 minutes.

Stabilis -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/5/2013 12:45:58)

Varium dispenses so fast for an individual I doubt it would sustain 500 people for a month.

Not a chance in Hades. People don't spend enough even for all the varium players to have infinite varium, much less adding everyone in the whole game to the equation.

I was about to make a very snide remark about your Communism comment, but decided to keep my political views to myself.

That communism comment is completely correct: If everybody was equal, and contributed & consumed equally, communism works.
The reason it doesnt work is because everybody is NOT equal and do NOT contribute and comsume equally.

Azwan -> RE: A Thought Provoking Question... (1/6/2013 5:57:28)

If this idea was ever implemented then there would be players (me included) who would stick around the bank all day grabbing all the variam I can get my pixelated hands on.
