Blaze The Aion Ender -> Psychological Warfare (1/16/2013 22:43:03)

I've noticed a few things in the my game play which I found interesting, which relate to psych warfare

People can say things, and cause me to make bad moves because I was no longer focused on the game
If a character tells me when we begin a fight "Hey baby", it makes me ask myself "What the hell?"
I will start thinking about what that person said, as opposed to the battle

Another part of psych warfare in this game is how the character look
If someone is pink, with bright blue stripes, lime-green eyes and purple hair, it takes my mind off the battle, and makes me focus on the repulsive and unflattering colors, and I can make bad moves, or not pay attention

Does your psychological playing style sometimes get affected in battle?
What triggers it?
Are you even affected by anything in battle, or do you just mute or ignore the person, and go on winning?

Discuss the applications of psychological warfare in ED, and how you are either affected by it, or use it to your advantage

Doesn't psychological warfare imply an intentional aim of changing someone's thoughts? Things like a greeting and their appearance usually aren't made to distract you on purpose. As of Delta, EpicDuel is a game where psychological warfare is non-existent. In Omega, it would presumably be possible to bluff a skill core, whether through words or if a skill core is known to be specifically associated with a certain build. That sounds more like psychological warfare to me.

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/17/2013 0:17:22)

Females control 99% of the phsycological warfare... lets face it.. its alot easier being a female in the game. More control. More attraction. More connections.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/17/2013 0:40:44)

Someone needs to try the pink/lime green deal and report their findings.

Drianx -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/17/2013 2:46:07)

I noticed many are f4f-ing as a deceptive measure although they don't really care about fame.

That's what you think.

This is true. If you spend your time clicking someones fame buttons it gives you less time to pick a move and more likely to make a mistake.

willendorf -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/17/2013 23:23:57)

I personally hate it when people are all "hey baby", it spams chat and half the time the people probably aren't even female, just guys trying to distract you lol

hijinks -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 17:28:39)

Oh my gosh! I actually never thought of this, silly me. But yes, I have noticed that a lot more recently. Many people might be trying to distract you from the actual game. Like those F4fers or saying mean things like "noob", or even through intimidation in looks.

Stabilis -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:15:12)

Saying something like "help I'm dying" could get you in trouble if it was a lie. AE might even have someone investigate you to learn if you really were in trouble. And that is when you get punished (in-game). You could get punished in real life by law if authorities were involved.

Just be careful for what you say, certain conditions are serious.

Aside, you could slap brains all day just by lying. Depending on how well you wear a disguise, you could deceive most of our population.

Normally these do no affect me because the most common lures like "f4f", do not apply to me.

UnderSoul -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:19:22)

I'm immune to and nearly a master of psychological warfare, but I don't use it. My skill speaks for itself.

King Helios -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:23:23)

^ Yeah, you are such a good level 5. <sarcasm>

I don't pay attention to it.

UnderSoul -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:25:18)

That's my brother's account, he made a deal where I get the forum account if his ED and AQW accounts are linked. I'm a level 12, still not high, but I've beat players quite higher than me.

King Helios -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:28:14)

Ah. Pretty impressive. I hate how at level 12-15, people are like, "TROLLOLO!NOOB@?1337!"

UnderSoul -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:40:02)

Even worse when they use so many acronyms and slang you don't know what language they're speaking. If any form of psych warfare, intentional or not, can distract me it's that.

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:55:34)

colors, looks and weapons does help, but to those who taunts/name calls/swears/F4F-ing in battle, i just treat them as beggars or a nobody.

Hard boy -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 18:58:45)

whenever i see a varium blood mage i instantly count myself losing, then i find myself making worse moves [&o]

King Helios -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/18/2013 22:25:59)

If my partner is Portuguese...since I am English...
Y U NO LISTEN DIRECTIONZZ?

I remember people used to do this when they fought me in beta and early gamma, and it was actually more annoying that it was helpful.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/19/2013 1:48:05)

This is why when I see someone with a really complex, thoughtful build I strike up a conversation. Keeps em from making the best moves they could.

drinde -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/19/2013 2:16:01)

I tried it once, using a Merc with bright pink armor, green skin with Frankenstein's face and neon blue hair.

Not much happened, aside from a person complimenting it. :|

ND Mallet -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/19/2013 2:27:53)

@drinde He's obviously got good taste then.

I actually stuck with these colors because it does distract people and make them think less of my abilities. It's also my calling card, my unique nature call. You don't forget these colors after you fight them. I picked them in the first place because they clashed so much yet oddly went a little well with each other.

arthropleura -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/19/2013 9:04:58)

Named myself crimzon alchemist so practically stuck with red and black. Maybe it's provocative or something cos I'm usually the target no matter what build I'm using :/
Heal loopin solved that problem...
I usually make idle conversation no matter what I'm doing, it's kida reflexive and it's basically second nature o_O. Never considered it a tactic though I did wonder when I was the only one talking th whole match...

willendorf -> RE: Psychological Warfare (1/20/2013 18:47:07)

I do the same thing, talk the whole battle. Sometimes people reply and you get a fun convo going, sometimes no one says anything and its just weird.
