There should be some background music to epicduel - maybe some house music or something

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: Background Music (1/20/2013 19:52:59)

I turn all sounds off anyway to remove as much lag as possible
So... Not supported

Dreiko Shadrack -> RE: Background Music (1/20/2013 20:40:18)

we don't need more cause for lag.

not supported.

Fortitudo -> RE: Background Music (1/20/2013 21:18:10)

No one's forcing you to listen to it, and I'm sure and on/off button can easily be implemented.

Supported, because it would be cool.

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: Background Music (1/20/2013 22:34:19)

We could simply listen to our own music, and they may have to work out deals with artists to play their songs. Unless you want the devs to spend a lot of time creating their own.

willendorf -> RE: Background Music (1/21/2013 13:40:55)

@ above. I didn't think about that...

Nightwraith -> RE: Background Music (1/21/2013 17:37:34)

We would only add a soundtrack if it could be 1. epic enough that you would listen to it over some of your existing music and 2. not repetitive. It doesn't help that we only have one official sound designer in the company (Warlic), so producing new tracks is difficult. So far, we have the EpicDuel theme and a few repurposed tracks from MQ. A full soundtrack would ideally be 100% EpicDuel.

That said, sound probably wouldn't add any lag to the game. It would, however, increase the file size of the game client, so it might be rough to download about 10 tracks if you've got a slow connection. The main issues are finding someone to create our sounds and allocating development time to integrate them.

Wootz -> RE: Background Music (1/21/2013 18:05:57)

Tell the guy who made the soundtrack for the new Devil may Cry. Because it is even more epic then DMC3OST!

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: Background Music (1/21/2013 18:10:45)

They should probably implement sound affects before background music....

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 4:36:55)

At above

They did that in beta... It wasn't a pretty sight, all you would here is.. "Crack" "Woosh" "Slice" repeatedly

willendorf -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 10:09:57)

Sound effects would probably sound like aqw and the noise of attacking in that game gets really annoying after a while...

Sipping Cider -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 10:25:20)

What if EpicDuel held a contest for anybody to create an official epicduel soundtrack? Im sure the community has some good sound designers who would be honored to make a soundtrack for epicduel.

Ranloth -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 10:29:27)

I'm pretty sure they are free to submit it as it is in this section of the Forum. No one stops them and Devs may may use it if they will see it as suitable.

Remorse -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 10:29:48)

@ cider

Cool idea,

Im sure it wouldn't be that hard to make a battle theme song for ingame battles.

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 10:39:55)

Not supported

If you play oversoul, they have a battle theme song also.
I lag much in oversoul because of the music.

I don't want EpicDuel to put an battle theme song. I'd rather listen to my own tracks.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 11:38:37)

@Trans

Well maybe it could be publicized as a contest to motive people to do it.

@The Incredible Hulk

You would ideally have the option to turn music on or off if you are experiencing lag or want to listen to your own music

Remorse -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 11:59:45)

People need to make obvious assumption that go along with ideas.

Not supporting something like music for the reason of lag alone, when its obvious that a switch off button would be made like anything else that effects lag....

I see peoples ideas being shunned constantly in the forums for little downsides despite those issues being easy to fix and therefore should be assumed as fixed.

Ranloth -> RE: Background Music (1/22/2013 12:23:51)

Ah yes, Cider, contest would definitely be a motivation. Although people shouldn't expect big rewards either apart from song being used + achievement, perhaps some Varium but not a lot. I remember DF has used one of the player's song in The Necropolis Saga, so you can have a chance to win!

And yeah, if lag is your issue then you could turn it off. Button would be shown on the screen, without need to go into Settings, so you could reduce the lag if you had it almost straight away. And settings save apart from when the game is updated so you *could* have mini lag for few seconds.
