Eventus -> RE: Omega?? (1/29/2013 15:39:10)

The developers are well aware of how the delay has inconvenienced EpicDuel's players, which is why they have offered compensation (i.e. the exclusive promotional offer; the frequent Design Notes) as a way of apologizing for it. It was never intended for Omega to take this long to release, but a series of unexpected complications arose during the coding process—after all, remember that this is fairly new territory for the team. They're working on completely revamping most of the existing code in the game engine (which is a staggeringly amount of code, to say the least) to improve how the game engine currently functions so that future additions to the game will be easier and possible to implement. Then there's also the prodigious amount of new artwork that has been drawn to improve gameplay experience and the interface. All of this—a work in progress—for the sole purpose of making your guys' gameplay experience much, much better. Change takes time, and the developers are only human with only so much manpower at hand. The progress report in the latest Design Notes was a serious litote in terms of how much was really done... I've seen a lot of the work done myself—walls, and walls of text of it—and it's truly quite a fearsome, but equally impressive sight to behold. I can promise you that all the time you've been waiting was never squandered—not a second of it. The developers have been working long and hard hours (seven days a week) to get this release done for you guys as soon as possible. They honestly cannot work any faster than they already are without substantially degrading the quality of their work, and they would never release rushed work, because you guys deserve only the best; they'd rather not release anything at all than giving you guys something of lesser caliber than that of you folks deserve. Now I'm not saying that this excuses the lengthy delays, but I am saying that the wait is completely worth it. I'm saying that the developers should not be blamed for doing their best—it's not like they woke up one morning on December 2012 and just decided to delay Omega to annoy everyone. All I am asking for is for you guys to show a little more compassion; show a little more understanding for why the delays happened the way they did. Understand that in short of simply magicking clones of the team, nothing will shorten their current workload or make the release get out any quicker. I understand that it can be extraordinarily frustrating and suspenseful to have to wait for so long, but know that good things come to all who wait, and when Omega is released, you will be able to reap the benefits for your wait. With that being said, I'm also going to wrap things up in here, as the thread's topic falls under a disallowed topic in EDGD. I trust that no one will remake a thread of this sort: expressing your concerns is not okay when it worsens things more than it would fix. quote:
No Spam/Whining Threads Please do not post in a thread unless you have something to add to the topic at hand. Do not post off-topic chatter, do not role play, and please make your post simple and easy to read by avoiding things like oversized font, unnecessary colors or all caps. In addition to refraining from spam, please refrain from creating threads with the sole purpose of complaining about things in the game, such as lag. Well-reasoned discussions will be permitted, as always, but threads that exist purely to complain and whine will not be allowed, as these threads are prime targets for flaming and trolling.
