Don't you think there are not many players on ED if you compare this to other games or AQW?

So basically, it's a fact that a lot of people play AQW and other games, but why not EpicDuel?

There are only around 3000 people online at the most active moments. This is not very much and that also explains the small amount of players on the forum.

Why are there no commercial vids on youtube about ED?

People who have a good computer mostly play fun games like LoL, but some people dont want to download these kinds of heavy games.
This game is mostly focused on kids, but there are also adults on this game.

How can we get more players in this game? Im sure this game can get very big, but for that there is needed a lot of commercials and people should share this game to others. The last 2 servers are closed for years and with later improvements in this game people would like this game more and stay in it.



Also, I think this will be the fact why not much adults play this game: The storyline. I never read the storyline with new events cause.. well... im an adult(I dont care about made up stories about npc's and stuff)

The important question is : How do we get more players?

people dont play this game for a few reasons new players join to find they are forced to play the most powerful build to remain competitive.
On top of that until omega a f2p player is pretty much a free win for a p2p player unless the p2p has no clue what they are doing .
its all pvp alot of players prefer pve. this narrows down the market for ED.
once you get to a certain level the abomination known as juggernaut forced most to quit the game . a tiny percentage too npc and 1v1 till lvl 31. and a even tinyier percentage either to buy varium or continuue 2v2ing and loose their way to 31.
Thats why . hopefully omega will fix this

I used to have about 6 friends that played this game, but when they reached the higher levels they found it boring because they were non-var and couldn't compete at all.

The Pay to Win feature on this game strangled the life out of 99.9% of players. Constantly paying big $$$ all the time for upgraded weapons, gear, robots and enhancements.

Secondly, as the game progressed they complicated it with agility, focus and enhancements which led to all kinds of OP builds and a ridiculous RNG.

They were backing themselves into a corner when it came to the bloated amount of stats to place into skills leaving no room for us to progress as we leveled. The bloated stats led to OP builds, which if you tried to build to counteract that one OP build, left you vulnerable to every other build. So you either joined the OP build/class or struggled. This is not how a strategic pvp should be.

I do hope that Omega (rebuilding the battle engine) will fix these problems. Then and only then will we start to see a resurgence of players.

Young players could not afford to keep up with the cost of this game either and if they were non varium it would have been no fun at all to keep getting smashed.

I am glad that some common sense has prevailed from our admin team to try to set the game up correctly.

It is no secret what my sentiments were/are about the mistakes made in EpicDuel.

I have long felt that Shaniqua's quote "Evolve or Die" was not expressly directed at the players.

they should change age limit cause when they say like for kids it is really turn off to those teenagers and adults since most of ed people are in teens and adults. that is what i seen since i been playing ed.

The ED fanbase has stayed the same for a long time. It never goes over 3000 for the most part.

Right now the devs are making Omega in an effort to get more players.

Studies show that from other games where systems like this are used, people end up spending more money without having to feel the horrible urge to be forced into doing so.

Omega should bring the playerbase up a lot.

I think it would be cool to do a study on new players, by tracking how much log in the next day, and the day after, and track those players activity for a couple weeks. I think most players either quit through levels 1-10, or Level 20-28.

Being one of the non-varium players that struggled when leveling up, I can say quitting the game crossed my mind. Yet, I'm still here because when I see game with potential, I do not give up on it easily.

The thing that helped me to survive in a pool of sharks, and the fact that I played causally.
A bit here, a bit there, I played only to have fun (and when there were events). When I got bored, I would stop. I looked away from the Win/loss ratio, because I knew I would not be able to compete much. I tried to be the best I could within my limitations, and the increased challenge of fighting a varium player was actually interesting.

My interest in the game kept me close enough to never miss an update, or news about the game. But there were moments where I would play less, when leveling up close to level cap. I would have left if I didn't care much about the game as I do.
But many other players would have quit in my situation. I'm sure of that.

Omega will restore what players were looking for, and will not make them leave just like that. It will prevent a future me from quitting, and I'm sure of it.
MANY players that would have considered paying, ended up leaving, because usually a player tries to level up without the assistance of money, And only spending it in the End-Game, Powerful stuff.
If a player does did not reach that before leaving... then something was wrong. The Struggle was huge and time consuming (The amount of patience needed too), since a losing player would not gain so much Exp, and level up slower.


Now, the players won't be in the same situation, and we will surely see an increase in numbers! Maybe even old level 20+ players will come back for omega.
We should make this information about Omega reach all those players!

Actually, I do enjoy a good storyline. The fact is... Epicduel has barely any story at all. It's mostly stories between npcs, or small ocurrences.
We need to have Background stories with depth, where the missions can revolve around, and how it affects the present world. I enjoyed the story behind Baelius Vault, Ulyses, and the infernal robots made of real human bodies.

I believe Adults even care more about a good Story development than younger players. When a Story is really interesting and presented to us in the best way, I get all "WHOA, this information is AWESOME", and it just makes me search for more, learn more about the how this world WORKS, it's secrets, how the creatures exist in the world, and how it ended up to be. The conflicts, the mysterious secrets, etc.

We need stories worth of becoming legend, events that make an impact in the world. Things that change people, the way characters behave, and their actions. Single time events that simply come to be and end up with no loose ends, and where everything goes back to normal... they don't work that well.

If the story is really good, players become more interested, curious and immersed into the game, and it's reality. It should not be a "made up thing", but the experience of what could be a real world. Making you think, feel , and changing your perspectives.
Being an adult has nothing to do with it. I think it depends on each person. If one does not care much about the story, it's fine, but not the reason for less adults playing.

1. Release more updates, and at the right time. If Omega was released during the Winter break loads of kids would have been tempted to try out ED from the ads.

@vypie yup, stories makes the game interesting and with a purpose, it wouldn't make sense if random NPCs are introduced without a specific role in-game, there wouldn't be a infernal war or frysterland war without the back-story, i personally don't like to play games that doesn't have a interesting back-story or plot behind it.

I think we can get more players by many ways.
1) Lowering prices for varium
2) Advertising
3) Appealing to different crowds
4) Translating and letting it open to more countries
5) Finishing testing phases

I agree that the storyline definitely needs to be pimped.

Continuity about characters and their place in the future of ED would be interesting. Perhaps, once Omega has launched, the admin could try to get a storyline happening with a view to future events and characters.

Example: The game I currently play has a puppet show telling us all about this character and how they fit in to the grand plan. These puppet shows are very very humorous. The characters have references to those we have known from television etc. (Zorro is known as El Toro a bull with a cheesy grin which plays Mexican music). Catbeard another character in this game is a throw off to the movie Cats and Dogs.

We need not do puppet shows but how about some humor here and there along with character backgrounds and future references?

ED never had a problem to get new players. The problem is that they cannot be motivated
to stay for a long time. Its just all about duels and this is very repetitive. Minigames with
rewards would be really a good idea. And to implement some much easier bosses where
players could meet and build a team = Point of attraction. Most people prefer teamwork
over pvp.

Just run a guild and you have your study. After just 2 days alot players get inactive. Some stay for 1-2 weeks active.
Thats when they reach the higher levels and meet the OPed varium players.

But good news is, a lot of these things are being changed in omega.


So who knows, omega could be a jump start to a lot more players.

@G4m3r sounds good. This will help to get more players and to let them stay. I personally as an adult, and many others(also teenagers) dont like storylines because we don't have much fantasy anymore. As example the story about the bunnies.. I mean... -_-

Just make a good story about Legion and Exile and dont exxagerate with things about monsters or things like that.

Wouldnt work unless they gap 99.9% dissapears or even better completely and juggernaut is drastically altered and 2v2 is changed in omega and they need more pve to attract a wider crowd . a refferal system wont work unless all that is done because the majority would not stay playing long

well epic duel has gone down some do the crying and fighting between nons and variums players.

Ed is a pay game same as aqw and the rest. but one thing is not the same in aqw you can pay a year at a time to pay for items and when new items come out you can get them for a whole year with out paying more for them. aqw is a game were you go and do quest for good or evil. Ed is a 1v1 or 2v2 game not the same as aqw. in aqw you can team up and do quest, in Ed only when you fight bosses you team. aqw has better game play, sound, more gaming rooms , your are not fighting varium players to level up. granted aqw has a pvp mode.


Ed was not designed for team play expect for 2v2, or for doing large quest, party guest, it was designed for 1v1 mode or 2v2 mode.

maybe if Ed had sound, better game play it might draw more people to play. maybe when omega is comes online it might have some of these items but Ed is ok
Ed will get better l hope. Ed has people that had made friends in the game,in factions, people you play ever day.World 7 were people go and talk, complain about the game,
ask for fame, so on and so on.

These are my way of thinking always the syfy[:D]

Not be viciously mean to new players by auto-losing 3/4ths of their battles once they start approaching the level cap.
