Mother1 -> Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 16:54:52)

While I never used one myself since I like mutating weapons myself, there are some people who would use swords for the extra stats they would normally give at the cost of not being able to use certain skills. However with the dawn of omega coming extra stats will be a thing of the past. All items will be exactly the same stat and power wise which leaves me to say Omega has made swords completely worthless now.

I mean why even bother to use a sword? You would be giving up using certain moves but at the same time you won't be gaining anything from it. It is a lose/lose since swords won't be giving extra points.

This is just my view on it but tell ED community do you think differently or the same as myself?

Lycan. -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:03:31)

Your whole statement is invalid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNAVpqH3ThM
Go on 2:45 it says at the bottom +1 sword stat.

Mother1 -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:09:12)

@ lycan

my point is that sword will be no different then any other item at that level. Originally swords would give you extra stats class specific items wouldn't. Meaning if you would get 3 points for a class specific weapon a sword would give you 4-5. However now your power up for that weapon will be no different then any other item.

this means that why should anyone equip a blade which already limits the moves you can use, if it give no more advantage then another class specific item at that level?

zion -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:10:24)

Exactly as Lycan stated... invalid.
It seems swords will have both extra stat(s) and damage when compared to class-specific items of the same level!

Lycan. -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:11:42)

Thats exactly what i heard^ They will get extra damage and as it says on the video some extra stats.

Mother1 -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:17:51)

You both are missing my point I am trying to bring up.

I am looking at video right now

everything say +1 the sword is no different. If you look at class weapons now and compare them to a sword in of that same level and cost class (Varium or non varium) The sword will have slightly more stats then the class specific weapon

Take a look at the infernal interdictior and infernal slayer.

The stats of the infernal slayer are

6
9
9
6

while the infernal interdictor is

5
9
8
5

Right there as you can see the you will got 3 more stat points with the infernal slayer then the infernal intridictor

However with the change in omega even though the sword can gain extra stats upon leveling up like all weapons do, it will Have the "SAME" amount of stats and Damage as a class specific weapon since they are removing stat advantages. So please show me where in that video does it show a sword still having more stats and damage then a regular weapon?

Ranloth -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:19:25)

Still wrong. Swords WILL have advantage over normal weapons, it will be +1 damage like it is now and probably up to +4 more stats. It was already stated by Devs via Twitter when players have asked. Swords will have the same damage and stats as other Sword BUT Class-specific weapons will have less stats and/or damage than Swords.

JariTheMighty -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:21:21)

Based on previous videos swords will have 25 stat points and 36 damage, whereas class-specific weapons will have 20 stats and 35 damage.

But these might not be the final numbers.

caser5 -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:22:53)

Swords are now inferior to clubs, and that will probably intensify with Omega. I, a tactical mercenary pretty much have to use my Delta Maul even though the sword is much better looking (with better stats as well), because w/o a club I can't frenzy or atom smash which both contribute a good bit to the average win.

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 17:23:24)

As everyone else said, in Omega all swords will maintain around the same advantage as they currently do.

Vypie -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 18:54:42)

Swords will be equally powerful among other all other swords.

Wrist blades, clubs, staves will be as strong as other primaries of the same type.

And just like Auxiliaries will keep the extra damage, swords will keep the stat advantage. No one said anything about swords having the same points as other weapons.

Goony -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 21:09:16)

JariTheMighty, has the stats and damage spot on and unless this changes during the balance testing the final numbers will look similar!

i know i might be out of topic, but final testing has not yet started??

King FrostLich -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 21:37:36)

Honestly, I've been thinking about using a sword if I was a 5 focus Blood Mage. If I remember using it, all skills of a 5 focus BM don't even require a staff which is perfect with the cost of not using fireball but that is easily replaced by plasma cannon. Besides, swords were meant to be given more stats and slightly more damage than class specific weapons do and since enhancements are going away, this can be the right way swords should be in game.

The Astral Fury -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 22:56:44)

Moter1 I understand your concern about this, since you think what's the point of using a weapon if it's exactly the same as every other weapon except it dosen't let you use all skills. I think on this topic mother maybe you miss read something or were just uninformed, but I think it says someway swords will do more damage and will also be customizable with more stats. I could be wrong though.

Rest assured mother I think swords will be fine, but thanks for making this thread because it allowed the community to disscuss further on swords in Omega which hasn't been dicussed and I was wodnering the same thing too until I went back and read.

Wish you all the best!

Mother1 -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/30/2013 23:16:38)

@ properto

Thank you for posting that because that was the point I bring up.

Now if every weapon is exactly the same for the sake of balance, what is the point of using swords? Swords were originally made to give more stats then normal weapons at the cost of being able to use weapon specific skills. That was the balance for swords.

However thank to this balance chance swords have become unbalanced since their positive has been taken away (the extra stats they would give) but the negative (not being able to use weapon specific skills) will still be there.

Do you think they will sell us infernal slayer with 36 dmg and then make it 35 dmg?
Staff already said swords will keep the +1dmg and more stats, it was said by rabblefroth in some thread.

Blitzex/Sr. Zeph -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/31/2013 0:18:17)

As everyone stated:
All swords can get 36 damage

Practel is wrong. And since Goony ''confirmed'' Jari's numbers it will also have +5 stats.

Seems you missed Goony's post, but I'll try now. Swords are not going to lose their disadvantages. Swords will still give extra stats compare to class specific weapons, and they will have at least +1 damage more over class specific weapons.

Edit:
That quote from Practel is old, as things can easily change.

AxeOFury -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (1/31/2013 23:57:10)

Even if a sword gave +2 damage and +8 stats, the core weapon for that class will be superior. For example, a mage. Having the chance to use super charge and assimilation will easily be a game changer. I can remember design notes a while back saying that swords will have some of their own abilities. I guess thats another lost idea...just like the grenades.

Remorse -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (2/1/2013 0:46:27)

^ Disagree,

Swords will be fine,

It all depends on the build you use, While I admit some classes benefit more form use a staff for example for things like assimilation.

However MANY builds do not need the skill which require the class specific weapons at all.

For example focus hunters and CHs.

Now they get a chance for bonus damage and stats for sacrificing the other skills.

A fare trade off IMO, Swords will be still a great alternative.

AxeOFury -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (2/1/2013 2:34:44)

Yes, it does definitely depend on the build. I am myself a sword user. Although, my Frostbane will not be used again till Omega. Possibly in 5 years when it's released, I shall use swords again.

Ranloth -> RE: Epic duel omega = destruction of swords (2/1/2013 3:48:21)

This. It all depends on the build of yours, whether it needs a class-specific weapon or not.
