Exploding Penguin -> Devalued Promos (2/8/2013 12:03:53)

I noticed a lot of previous promos lost pretty much all their value. Here are a few examples:

-Infernal slayer now serves little purpose as the highest-damaging sword
-Dragon buster II is just like any other phys sword
-Eggzookas are literally nothing, and they were previously (and arguably) the best aux in the game since they came out, until Omega came
-Harvest promos have pretty much no value compared to any other promo, aside from the+ +3% damage, which is really nothing when meteor shower is allowed for any weapon.
-Mark of azrael is pretty much the same thing as the +4% crit chance on strikes, except it's upped by 1%

See what I mean? Lots of previous promos either have pretty ineffective skill cores compared to ones that can be obtained easily, and many previous promos without skill cores lost all their value. Here are some ways to rebalance it out:

-Make infernal slayer have the ability to have massive strike, or up its damage by 1
-Give dragon buster its own special skill core, or up its max stat mods or damage by 1
-Give eggzookas extra damage, a special core, or more stat mods
-Change jack-o-fire into an entirely different skill core so that it isn't exactly the same as meteor shower. I'm particularly fond of the idea of making it a passive core, and making jack-o-fire an active core simultaneously, OR make it so that it can be used in 2v2 to deal damage against both foes, and the damage is based off of dex/tech (so it won't OP strength builds)
-Make Mark of Azrael an active core (and possibly also a passive at the same time so it keeps the +5% on strikes) where you use a basic strike attack with a random +10-20% bonus crit chance added onto your current one.

Promos should become skill core only, weapons/armour would be a bonus.

Remorse -> RE: Devalued Promos (2/8/2013 12:35:22)

technically they would devalue themselves over time anyway,

Because of the level cap depreciation factor.

Just a matter of time before the promos that are good now become just as bad as everything else, with the old system.

Now technically the promos aren't as strong short term but they can at least be used forever on.

Take founder for instance, has that armour been devalued or increased??

Increased because the level cap has changed.

Wouldn't hurt to give them small advantages at least, like the Dragon Buster for example, give it a small 5% chance to reduce physical def by 5 when using strike. Or Caden armor, when being attacked by tech it has a 5% chance to absorb 20% of the damage into energy. I know Caden armor isn't a promo but you get the idea.
