Scyze -> New non-PvP based server (2/10/2013 13:44:00)

A new server so that only battles with NPCs are made. This server never gets locked so that people can easily get there. When I want to just farm NPCs, there won't be a lot of players online so I have to go the the Epic server. I've seen to notice that, the more players there are on a server, the more slower the game-play gets. My computer is old [Internet connection is fast] and I have to use the low quality to make the game run smoothly. When I enter a server with barely any players, I can go up to medium quality. This might not be a problem to you but for some other people, it might be.

If you want to enter this server, you will get the following message:
quote:

You are about to enter a Chat and PvP restricted server. This server is only based for farming NPCs.
Amount of players on this server depends on the time.
Or something like that.

On this server you can:
  • Only challenge NPCs
  • Buy/ sell items
  • Do most of the current things available on the other servers

    I know that EpicDuel doesn't need a new server (might be hard to make a new one?) and your post(s) might be close to something like this, "EpicDuel is fine with the four servers, we don't need one..."

    i dont see any point

    @Warmaker04,

    The main point behind this was that it is made to make the game-play faster. Its not fun challenging NPCs as they repeat the same thing over and over again. Its not a human controlling it's behavior. Also, having a laggy game-play makes it worse.

    Pointless, just use the less populated server... It would make more sense for them to keep the second server always unlocked.

    Mother1 -> RE: New non-PvP based server (2/10/2013 16:38:01)

    Not supported.

    1 servers have a limit to prevent system crashes making it limitless would only cause just this.
    2 go to a less populated server it only makes sense if you want to battle NPC
    3 A waste of money on the developers end.

    This is a PvP game. This server would be completely pointless and against the game's main reason for existing.

    Though I certainly do understand the point you are coming from, in the fact that you want to avoid lag and when using an old computer, you have to find other ways to help run the game at a good speed. The main issues here are firstly, servers cost a lot of money to keep running, yes, we have 2 servers that only become active after releases or at prime time, but the fact that they lock when not needed helps keep costs down. Creating a new server for this purpose would cost a lot, yet may not be the best option ever since it creates as many issues as it solves:

  • EpicDuel is a PvP game, that is the core focus, the Omega update was to help create even more focus on that. Creating a server that is for NPCs and other uses is rather counter productive, in that it is making a server without the main part of the game on.

  • It would be very confusing for new players who go on one server and happily PvP, next day they click another and the option is oddly gone. Though it's easy to say we can make it obvious, quite a lot of young people play the game and some may not understand even if we try to explain. It's unfair on them if they do not realise about this server for similar reasons and therefore NPC on the more laggy servers.

  • If the server became very popular, there would be a large amount of people on it to 'avoid lag', which actually creates lag and makes the server completely useless.

    Those are only a few off the top of my head, I did have a few more, but they have completely escaped me by now aha - but yes, see where you are coming on and good thinking in terms of finding a solution, however the issues outweigh the positives, so sadly, it will not be happening.

    Will lock this up due to this - PM me if you have any queries!
