Killer666 -> Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 12:42:59)

People keep saying that ED is losing money from this update. Honestly i think thats just them. The game has a way more convenience factor now in omega which will prompt more people into buying. I find myself wanting to buy more varium now haha.

vulkan -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 12:46:33)

to be honest, i dont really see the point of varium anymore. they may as well just sell a big pile of credits. Wouldnt really matter either way.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 12:48:36)

^ That's the point, while varium may not be a necessity for upgrading/buying armor obtaining credits is now, in a way a slower process so upgrading gear with varium or buying gear just makes more sense than using credits.

With the difference that Varium has and will have even more luxuries that Credits will not let you obtain. >.>

@ Vulkan

You're missing the point, unless you played consistently throughout Delta and stored up a mountain of credits ( which many of us didn't ) the current system now encourages players to buy/upgrade with varium. No one wants to play the tons of matches to get around upgrading/buying with credits trust me. When I first turned my tech mage to blood I marathoned 3 days in a row just for 50k ( never doing that again ) when I could've paid 1 fee for a instant class change. varium may not appear to hold as much water but I think it still holds enough to keep ED afloat. It's mostly a matter of the paying players now, do they really need a 50 stat point advantage to enjoy the game or are they going to be able to win/enjoy the game with core advantages and extra conveniences brought along with varium.

As a mostly non var, I'd say varium still has allot of perks that the gifted varium players are overlooking simply because they can't win every battle with little effort.

@killer

I've been trying to make your point all across the forums. The people that are constantly complaining "You can farm cred very fast, 60 wins per hour? You can get creds very fast"
First off, only strength abusing, game addicts can do this. Some people like to battle without abusing strength, and have lives, not sit at a computer all day. Therefor variums are very usefull, and a huge time saver.

BurningFlames -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 12:58:57)

I'm seriously really happy with the new system. Varium isn't required but nice to have. I think ED is going in the right direction, only real problem is balace is a little off.

DeathiZClarity -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 13:00:15)

^ Agreed. Now that they got varium vs nonvarium balance, they can start working on class vs class balance, and then build vs build balance, its a long, tiring process.

Why do i see everybody calling it 'little off', trying to sugarcoat a huge problem.
I kept track of my win/loss during the second half of a yeti mission, won 75 times lost 45 times x)

Every battle it's like: Oh look what a suprise another strength abuser and to top it of they say 'gg' as if they earned it.

Fully agreed.

Vypie -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 14:05:57)

I will now certainly use my varium on something.
Before, weapons got outdated, And I would not be able to use them anymore. Now, with varium you can buy Permanent things, like cool weapons/armor, with UNIQUE skill cores, unobtainable by any other means
And they will always be usable and viable.

Ranloth -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 15:36:19)

If the majority in-game says different, what stops them from giving feeback via Facebook, Twitter and/or Forum? It's there so they can give it. If they decide NOT to use any of them, of course decisions will be made regardless of their opinion.

DeathiZClarity -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 15:48:04)

You have to think in EVERYONE'S shoes.

People that cant afford variums: Nonvarium players, the majority of these people are people that cant afford variums, but still want to have some fun on the game. So being beated by a varium player due to battle advantage is fun? I dont think so.

People who have paid a lot of money on enhancements: I understand some are mad, but you did get use out of these enhancements while they were implemented, so giving 30% back isn't stealing.
Basicly, getting paid back for being a pro earlier on in the game.

People who have tons of rares: VERY HAPPY becuase they can final show off their rares and still win battles, due to the fact that they can upgrade them to their level.

Extreme Gamers: Happy for being able be equally matched against lazy varium players, and hard-working varium players. Also don't have to spend as much money, or can be hard working nonvariums and become pros.

Ranloth -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 15:48:04)

Yeah, that's past 24 hours. If you count how many players play AE, remember about AQW having a lot of players and older AE Games existing, quite a fair number of players could've logged in today for ED. Only because you've seen 1.5K online doesn't mean only around that many players have logged in.

Staff will listen if they post feedback, not play ED and stay quiet. It works both ways.

Agreed, epicduel may not have many players online at 1 time, but its mainly constant, except for a few hours at reset. Unlike aqworlds, for once it hits nighttime, you see a decrease by the thousands.

I was using aqworlds as an example, it loses half its players at night, unlike epicduel.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 17:36:12)

@ The Final Hour

Your example about the player base is actually the cause of the recent imbalance in Omega which in time will be fixed. There's no way everyone who currently doesn't or plays very little are going to stay gone as you can bet your behind their logging in daily just to check if things changed. As things are now I play probably an hour a day ( during x2 ) cause I can't be bothered to play this game as it is now ( hell I don't even feel motivated to play during x2 ) I know the game will be fixed in time and if its my fault I can't NOT play this game for a few days is entirely my fault.

Personal opinion here I liked the earlier Omega phase as I was actually winning against strength abusers but that got shot down with the increased base energy allowing them to max out their attacks without worrying about running out of energy. I think all of the whiny Varium players that think they got robbed are without a doubt the players that LOVED the huge stat advantage they had and now are crying cause non Varium players can now kick their butt so they ran off ignoring that they still have a huge advantage.

Think about the non Varium players for once, I spent nearly 200k on Credit enhances just to have them immediately erased because of the current system, and I did this on THREE characters, how do you think I feel? I actually just sold my rusted gear on my mercenary cause I was too broke to buy lv 31 weapons only to see that they now sell for 6k missing out on potentially 50k credits in rusted gears so non Varium and Varium, if you played during Delta or earlier you got hit by this update.

DeathiZClarity -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 17:41:15)

@Valkyrie THANK YOU! But I will honestly tell you, they wont listen to a word and aknowledge it, other than to fight it.

And also, they wouldn't have bought them knowing enhancements would be leaving? I beg to differ, we knew omega was coming since november, if not earlier, I get 10,000s of variums were spent on enhancements since then, I myself spent 1,250 variums on enhancements in december, why? Cuase i could enjoy them for a while, knowing i would be compensated 30% of them.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 18:28:06)

@ The Final Hour

You know what you remind me off? Those people who'd play a Anime FTP MMO, spend thousands of dollars ruining the entire game economy buying and selling valuables in the free market and or on fashion + fashion upgrades. Then have the audacity to complain about how much money they've spent and demand a full refund when the game announces it can no longer stay running ( shutting down )

I haven't played a game where you needed more than 100 ~ 200 bucks to max out a character and then enjoy the game as a non paying member.

DeathiZClarity -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 18:37:54)

^ Nice simile? But no, its like paying rent-to-own on something, and getting a 30% money back if you dont pay it all off to own it.

And believe me, if it wasnt for the 'upgrade your item' system, you wouldn't even use your item once you level up a few times, so technically, you would have to call that 'robbing' you of your money to, right? You knew you weren't going to use the item forever, yet, you bought it, and enhanced it anyways. And if you wanna sell it? You get a % of it back, not a full refund.

ValkyrieKnight -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 18:54:55)

There's no point in arguing about this. You paid much more than the average paying player we understand that. However, this game did not require you to spend anymore than 100 $ ( at least on 1 character I'm not too sure how much it cost for a full enhanced lv 35 character ) to experience the game fully meaning everything extra is optional so if you lost more than other players I'm sure AE is sincerely sorry but they're trying to look out for everyone not just their biggest doners like some paid politician. We could speculate their mindset when they first decided to go this route but this is the path they chose so hopefully it'll benefit Epic Duel as a whole. I already spoke my mind about how I thought Delta was fine the problem was the extremely high credit enhance prices but hey, I'm just 1 of few who made enough credits to enhance and on some level compete with fully enhanced Varium players.

This is the same for me, I spent much more effort in building my level 35 characters to compete with level 35 varium players only to have my time invested forgotten when enhances were removed. It angered me at first but when I think about all the players that couldn't put or didn't have the willpower to stomach fighting fully enhanced Varium brute after another I feel better that people no longer have to stress about fully enhances every new gear set that comes out again. Especially if you're non Varium having to wear ugly Harbringer suit because there was nothing else better to use, and if something did come up would you really pay 28k for it and then another 100k credits just to make it on par / better than the Harbringer? This is the same for my outdated Mechachillid gear, Charfade was better but they were already +7 so I was stuck with the set.

DeathiZClarity -> RE: Varium still being sold. (2/12/2013 19:01:11)

Technically, you were sorta 'renting' the enhancements, just make a payment everytime you put them on another item, instead of paying on a monthly/yearly basis.
And when enhancements dissapeared? You got a % of it back. But as valkyrie state (jsut in different words), This is pointless, and not worth my time arguing about.
