Made 4 Sunny Days -> Build Copying Encouraged? (2/17/2013 1:32:48)

So since omega has started I have run into not 1, not 2 but around 12 different people who have encouraged others to copy their builds. I saw it in 1v1 as well as 2v2.
To be perfectly honest it sickened me... Why would you encourage other players to copy your build?
Has anyone else run into these copy cat encouragers?

Simple.

Because if you are a weak class and build you cannot get your share of wins from NPCs anymore.

So there's no way to minimize losses than joining the strong.

The dignity of having an original build has been trampled by the lust for winning.

see this is a issue all the weapons are now pretty much the same and all the most effective builds are just being copied. just gunna be fighting the same battles again and again .

@above Couldn't agree more. And all of that just starts the domination of the build,

such as the Era of Strength Blood Mages in Delta, Caster builds, and now the Era of Strength Mercs :/

This could all have been avoided if the staff made it so builds couldn't be seen, but sadly the staff is more concerned about players who can't find a good build to find one, as well as the players who cry about "If they do this I won't know what is coming!"

This is just the consequences of being able to see builds. They can be copied down to the letter.

Spreading a good build isn't hard at all. People post videos on youtube, request builds on forums, talk about and request builds at Oz 7...

Bringing class balance is the real solution. Together with bringing back NPC wins. This would make those who are proud with their class get their share of wins and stay loyal to it.

Well build copying has been here since the start, much more prevalent now, but this is the first time I have seen players telling others to copy their build

its more easy to do now cause you can change your base stats without needing to buy a new weapon lot easier to do . dress up ftw!

This is just a suggestion that just popped up, what if the skill tree actually showed what skills you had, but not the skill level? So you'd see Tact Mercs with surgical strike, but you won't be sure if its the new build where you get Max SS, or just one level to take 50% of your rage! However, its too late already :/ Strength builds and Casters have taken over the 1v1 battle mode :( Time to go do some 2v2s!

Difference is you are willingly showing or giving your builds out where as in battle if you don't want to show your build to every tom dick and harry you can't.

2v2 is definitely more fun right now imo
and I rather like your suggestion. knowing defenses and attack strength is important to the strategy of the game so covering the skill tree might be a nice idea to try

^strengh builds have been our evil overloads with a strong foothold in 1v1

since omega began
2 balance updates later their still dominating
nothing new their ^.^

Exactly why this won't work. Also, I'm sure the more elite factions eg. MEGANET would fall into pieces for around 2 minutes, then the power-hungry side of them turns on, and they PM each other about the best builds etc., leading to a build which no one knows and wrecking the 1v1 battle mode! :/ One step by one step, don't try to skip any devs! Add balance to the game, then think about this problem!

That would be the problem with it, but it sounds like it could be a good solution.
Omega has absolutely been a copycats dream come true.
I can't 1v1 right now, it's the same everytime

With how weak health based builds have become ED has officially converted me to a 5 focus BM, that really hurts = =;;

D: I Can't use 130+ hp without being destroyed by debuffers or full tanks, which sucks as I was able to fight them much better with -6 ~ 8 agility.

the battles have indeed gotten boring in the past few days, all i see in 1v1 is strength builds and casters.

I've seen so many strength builds even more than before from Delta.

I would say no to build copying.

It's VERY boring to encounter the very same build now.

All I see is either:

STR Abusing Merc with 6 to max Berserk or TM with 8 to Max Deadly Aim and 7-max Plasma Bolt or Overloard or BH/CH with 7-max Shadow Arts + atleast lv 1 Massacre. It's very boring to see this repeatedly. I rarely see BM or TML, but it's also ironic that the class which I see the least time is the people who are very nice '-'

^A CH Massacre build is rare as the Mercenary in the beggining of Delta. The class alone is rare to see.
Build copying? We see it everyday. Mercenaries?
I had a Focus build and did the 150 wins mission, battled a few dudes in last few battles, amongst them was a CH. Done the mission, upgraded my daggers and retrained. Few minutes later, there's that guy again with a build of myne. But I'm fine with it, it'll always be a " problem". Personally, I don't see a problem with that, so meh.

If your build is really good or creative, then you are the only one who knows how to use it properly and that gives you an advantage over those who copied it.

I think I've seen around 9 CH's within 90 or so battles.

I switched from merc to bloodmage because I got tired of being like everyone else. However finding a non strength build to battle the strength builds is hard. especially since shields seem to be useless now. pretty sure with a +20 shield they shouldn't still be doing 30+ damage still. :(

I don't see why this is a problem,

I often encounter people I verse who when I verse a few games later again, they seem to have copied my build which is usually something unique I come up with.

They usually say thanks for the build, and I go, no worries.


I like the fact people copy some of my builds, It tells me my strategies are unique enough for people to incorporate into their builds.



I also agree with 8x, Builds may be easy to copy, but the unique strategies withing them are extremely hard to copy.


Persides the builds you guys portray as annoying builds when copied are usally the STR builds which aren't necessarily copied, Most of the time they are so obvious and effortless any old ED nut can think of it.




How hard is it to think of a STR abuse merc build?...


Most of the time players only need evidence that a type of build is effective and they can usually manage the rest themselves.

@mother if you can't see your opponents build, then its basically fighting blindfolded without getting a simple hint of what your opponents weakness is.
