Hun Kingq -> A new word to the banned list (2/21/2013 21:24:41)

Any variant of the word noob needs to be added to the banned word list due to it is being overused in disrespectful manner.

doomkiller98 -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/21/2013 21:28:44)

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words Will never hurt me.
This is why I dont Support. (said humpty dumpty)

Kidding.
I support.

NDB -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 0:54:08)

Some NPCs say noob lol. I even think Titan says it.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 3:12:54)

Hey, lets censor everything that might possibly offend people when used in a certain way or context. What a nice idea.

Not supported.

Stabilis -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 8:09:40)

Newb is not a bad word, you would not censor that too, would you?

Vagaran -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 8:10:50)

Let's also mute the word dumb, stupid, ugly, nasty, weirdo etc.

Not supported.

i like bounty hunter -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 8:59:20)

And I'm sure kill is also a bad word right so let's go ahead and censor that also

Remorse -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 10:30:01)

@ above,

Stupid is censored...

LOL completely not supported,

Having "noob" sayable is preventing players to use worse versions of swear words spealt incorrectly etc.
Because at least noob is innocent enough to get the abusers satisfaction.

I personally think words like stupid, and idiot should not be censored I mean come on, it is not a toddler game.

ND Mallet -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 10:32:06)

They added noob to the filter once. It got more complaints than anything. I actually don't think anyone posted saying they were glad they censored noob. So they eventually just removed it from the filter. And really, while it was filtered, people just called each other nubs, n00bs, newbs and so on.

EpicIsEpic -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 12:49:08)

@Remorse well i'd agree maby with stupid because a synonim for stupid is blind. But idiot would be a bit too mutch EVERY game being called idiot would probably make you sad and not want to play unless you use it.

Stabilis -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/22/2013 12:56:14)

Some words like noob, ass, damn, loser, idiot, etc... are not always aggressive in all contexts.

Instead of taking away our privilege to speak, why not be able to report players for "rude behaviour" made against fellow players? For example, if someone says "aw crap I have to go", yes they may be talking a bit spicy in a child-friendly game but this is still tolerable. If someone said "your mama is the crappiest person alive" they took "crap" in a rude context to insult someone and that should be reportable.

EDIT: Using the same word in the list twice probably makes me appear obsessed.

Hard boy -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 17:15:28)

ummm whats happening to the community, noob is offending now? oh my, am i playing with toddlers?

G4m3r -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 17:24:00)

Supported, lots of guys are always saying "noob" just because my noob accounts are unequipped/ without upgrades.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 17:25:50)

This is sad
Censorship hides creativity, opinions, thoughts and reality

If they censored every word, the game would become "be okay with it, or get out"
You can say what you want, and if it offends someone, so be it
I don't think anything should have filters, but whatever, not my planet
However I can disagree with censorship, so...
Not supported

The Astral Fury -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 17:36:13)

NPC's say this word, so that means the dev's have akknowledged that this is not a bad word since they allowed the word in game then it is allowed.

UnderSoul -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 17:57:40)

If anything some words need to be taken OFF the banned list. Completely not supported. Maybe if this game was aimed towards 4 year olds I'd support, but even then just maybe.

Cursed Darkness -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 18:45:42)

@remorse

Stupid is not censored, i just tried it in game.

and i don't support having Noob being on the ban list or censor list at all.

Eventus -> RE: A new word to the banned list (2/23/2013 18:49:22)

While I understand that being called a noob may possibly offend people, it should be noted that words can only offend you if you allow them to. If I called you a fruitcake and you were offended by it, it doesn't necessarily mean that the word fruitcake should be banned.

The current system has it so that only foul, obscene and swear words are blocked, because if we expanded our word range to include any word that just so happens to offend people, then we'd be looking at an impossible mission. It's clear that whenever systems are put in place to block words that allude to certain meanings, then people always find a way to bypass that by inventing another word to describe what the previous word conveyed. If it isn't noob, then folks would probably start using variations of noob, such as froob, choob, nub, nubcake, noobcake, or the aforementioned n00b and N008. Then even after we block all of those, a new trend to replace that word would undoubtedly come into being - you'd probably start seeing folks call each other cabbages, or something else!

In short, the word noob is almost certainly never going to be blocked. Being called a noob is definitely better than being called any other foul terminology that already is blocked, so it's something we'll have to settle for. After all, it's only human nature to desire to express yourself... and unfortunately, anger and frustration happens to be one of those expressions. The only time when players should be punished for their language then, is when they try to bypass the current filtered words, because those are the kind of vocabulary that are classified, by popular consensus and culture, as inappropriate language. The word noob isn't, since it also isn't always necessarily an offensive word when used in various contexts.

Thus, as this is a suggestion that cannot be put into effect for the mentioned reasons, I'm also going to close this suggestion thread. Your thoughts in this matter, however, are appreciated.

Padlockin' up!
