Renegade Reaper -> Changing your Password. (2/23/2013 4:24:51)

i have an idea about how to hinder hackers. if a hacker gets ahold of your info, either by you giving it to him, or
you actually getting hacked: the hacker already knows your current password. so by simply putting in your current
password to change your password, it is not secure. however, if a change were to be made to the steps you had to
take to change your password, it would be more secure. what if, when you change your password, an email is sent
to your email address for confirmation of a password change? this would seem to be much more secure.
do you agree?

also, i wasnt sure where to post this, so pardon me if i am posting in the wrong location. thanks.
again, this is late at night, so idk if this is a good idea or not lol

Lycus -> RE: Changing your Password. (2/23/2013 10:43:06)

Actually, if someone is 'hacked'/scammed, the hacker may change their password, however the player who really owns the account can simply use the 'forgotten password' page to regain it. If the hacker changes the email, a confirmation will be sent to the old address to confirm the change. The password change will also be sent as a notification to the email address. So that security is there. If that does not work, than the person just has to message the Help Team and they will look at the situation, if it is obvious the account does belong to the person messaging in, they will return it to the correct owner! So the current systems already has multiple layers of security, while not making it so complicated, people simply get confused when trying to change their password normally.
