Stabilis -> RE: How long should battles be? (3/6/2013 11:23:38)

What would be your ideal average length of battles? The answer is never absolute, but as long as possible so long as it is climatic but still being exciting. An estimate of my preference would be 10 turns minimum or 5 minutes minimum (which I believe I had mentioned before). What is your current average battle length and are you finding that the battles are too short? In turns, between 5 and 10 (low). In time, between 30 seconds and 5 minutes in low damage cases (also low here). Does luck play too much of a role in the battles? Yes. When I have expected another turn of life, my opponent critically damages me for a KO (even though I have high Support and a Support advantage). Or, when I expect to be KO'd, I deflect my opponent while having low Technology myself and my KO becomes his/her KO. Luck is vastly more negative than it is positive and you can see it is degrading the happiness of players more than it is promoting. Luck should be reasonable. Luck should be in favour of the preceding stat that it applies to. If I had every last stat point into Dexterity and my opponent did not allot a single point of Dexterity... no way should I BE blocked, if a block does happen I should be doing the block. Now luck should not be the the most occurring event in a battle, no it should not be frequent; luck should however be probable given the proper circumstances. Those with a high rating of luck probability from stats should procure those events.
