xGreen Warriorx -> The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/7/2013 20:49:47)

When you look at RabbleFroths current poll (as of Thursday, March 7th), you will see that 35% of ED players who took the poll say that Bounty Hunter is the most interesting class.
I can agree with that, because BH is the class with the most build options that work. BH can effectively use all 4 stats (str, dex, tech, supp), and almost all of its skills, as well as 5-focus, high HP, and tank builds.

All classes should be able to have build creativity like Bounty Hunters. I would like to see your thoughts on what can be done to give the other classes a wide range of builds they can use.

~Notes:
-I'm not saying BH is perfect. There are still changes that can be made to make it even more interesting.
-Ideas for new skills are welcome.

Here are my ideas:
(exact numbers can be worked out later)

Cyber Hunter: Plasma Grenade (Tech builds)
-Decrease the energy cost and increase the base damage.
-What this will do is make plasma grenade an effectively usable skill for CH tech builds which otherwise would only have EMP and increased bot dmg.

Tactical Mercenary: New skill (in place of Field Commander) - Damage Downer
-Decreases the supp of your opponent and the damage of their most damaging skill.
-Improves with str, requires dex.
-Can be used with a club and a sword.
-What this will do is give TLMs a good reason to have str and dex, which currently are useless by themselves.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/7/2013 23:52:30)

Here are my ideas:

Mercenary:
-Change intimidate to a skill which reduces both strength and support

TLM:
-Change up poison grenade to last a very long amount of turns, but to also have minimal damage dealt per turn. Example:
1. 1 damage per turn, lasts 2 turns
2. 2 damage per turn, lasts 3 turns
3. 3 damage per turn, lasts 4 turns
4. 4 damage per turn, lasts 4 turns
5. 4 damage per turn, lasts 5 turns
6. 4 damage per turn, lasts 6 turns
7. 5 damage, lasts 6 turns
8. 6 damage, lasts 6 turns
9. 6 damage, lasts 7 turns
10. 7 damage, lasts 7 turns

-Field commander buffs strength and support, increases with tech.

CH:
-Increase base damage of plasma grenade, and lower energy cost to 14
-Change multi shot to increase with dex

TM:
-Change up deadly aim to give a smaller damage boost but simultaneously returns energy back to the user based off of a % of damage dealt

BM:
-Change supercharge to something with similar effects that is physical and increases with support. This would really be interesting because reflex, intimidate, and energy shield all increase with support, but in truth a support BM lacks offensive capabilities.

It does increase with dex. Ever try a 34-45 defense build with maxed multi shot and 19-23+10+10 resistance? :)

I think bloodmage and techmage have just as many build options. However I think they need to find away to give tlm a build besides tanking. Cyberhunter is good, but could use a couple more build options. mercenary of course needs a good buff to make them decent again.

xGreen Warriorx -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/8/2013 10:42:35)

@Exploding Penguin
Making poison grenade last over 7 turns encourages TLMs most over-used build type, tanking, even more, because you would just stay alive for 7 turns while the poison does 49 dmg, then surgical strike and rage kill.

Demon Emperor -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/8/2013 17:04:29)

Skill replacing Super Charge for BMs:
Celestial Fury:
Deals half energy damage, half physical damage and ignores 30% of opponents def/res.
Requires a staff.
Requires dex, improves with tech.

Trifire -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/8/2013 22:37:16)

Well I currently have a heal looping build for tech mage and I would agree that the TLM need a reason to use strength.

I do believe Bounties are my favorite for build creativeness at the moment. I have been testing builds with my alt all day and they are so much fun, granted they may not have as many options as BM's, but still many viable high % builds. Most classes have many creative builds, no one has been able to discover them lately though. Because, like it always has been in the ED community, once someone makes an amazing build, everyone rushes to switch to that class with the same weapons and stats, retrains and does the exact same thing. Which is why there are so many patches all the time. People just need to open up their minds (and credits) to create new builds.

midnight assassin -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/9/2013 7:15:11)

Bounty hunters and I think ch as well. I just created a good build recently after the balance update without abusing a certain stat.

Demon Emperor -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/9/2013 10:06:58)

A lot of people have been saying that BMs have as much build creativity as BHs, and thats not completely true.

The only builds that get you a good win ratio with BM right now are 5-focus and possibly str. While BM has skills that look good for a tech build (Plasma cannon and Super Charge), TMs can use their tech skills and reroute to create a build so much more powerful that the BM build is too weak in comparison.

As for dex, BMs have Reflex Boost, Overload, and Plasma rain, and they can do better with a dex build than they can with a tech build, but I have a problem with Overload and Plasma rain being the same skills as TMs have for a dex build, which leads me to my next skill suggestion...

Skill replacing BM's Plasma Rain:
Stamina Shower:
Deals energy damage on all opponents, 85% dmg when used against multiple opponents (same as with all multis).
When using in 2v2 you have the option to give your partner your bloodlust, split it between you and your partner, or keep it to yourself. Ex: With max bloodlust, when you split it both you and your partner get 13.5% health back from the dmg done with the Stamina Shower.
No weapon requirement
Improves with dex and requires nothing

Sortrius -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/9/2013 11:02:53)

Demon Empperor, that skill would actually be a really interesting skill to see.

I believe Merc's were the most interesting/cretive class before Delta phase. There may be some great builds buried deep........ deep inside the skill points, but I have yet to test one that is viable as a high %. (Other than +5 focus.

I think a good skill to replace with the Mercenary skill points would be Blood Commander with:
Preperation
A strike that generates energy over 3 turns for 25.6% of the opponents damage dealt to you.
Cool Down: 4-5 turns (Don't know what would be best yet.)
No weapon requirements
Improves with focus
Requires nothing
Costs nothing

^ Still working this out and thinking about it, but I think this would help Mercenaries with some of the build problems recently.

ansh0 -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/9/2013 11:56:21)

Take PA away from CH, buff SC.

BAM!

xGreen Warriorx -> RE: The Most Interesting Class (Class Creativity) (3/9/2013 12:46:33)

Tech Mages: Assimilation
- Make the amount of energy stolen increase with str.
Something like 1 more energy stolen for every 8 str stat points.

What this does is gives assmiliation a buff, which it needed, and it will encourage TM str builds, which only have bludgeon and deadly aim right now.

Edit:
Hunters/TLM: Venom Strike/Poison
- Allow venom and poison to kill.

This makes poison much more useful at the end of the battle, instead of just at the beginning. Poison builds are very under-used right now, this should bring them back somewhat. (I'm using poison right now, and its working ok, but tank 5-focus builds keep beating me, and having poison able to kill would help bring it up to the lvl of these other builds.)

Accidental double post.
