I sent a pm to my friend. And when I looked at the *Sent* In my inbox, it wasn't there! If it isn't there, does it mean it hasn't been posted to my friend? Or does it take time to come in the sent section?

It comes immediately. Try log out/in and check. Else you should send again to be on safe side.

Try this:

Go to Profile Settings > Scroll Down to the Private Message section > Now see if you've checked the option
which says " Always Save PM to sent folder". If it's not checked, simply check it and hit "Apply".

Now, every time you send a Private Message, you'll have a saved copy in the sent folder!

PMs are sent immediately. After you compose your message and click "OK" you should be sent to a screen that will either have a Green Checkmark and a message telling you the PM has been sent successfully or a Red X and a message telling you telling you it hasn't.

The only reason a PM goes to your Sent folder is if you choose the option to save a copy in your Sent folder. You can do that on either a message-by-message basis by clicking the checkbox for "Save a copy to sent folder" that appears at the bottom of the message when you're writing your PM (it's next to the option to request a read receipt) or by setting your profile to have all messages saved in your sent box (the way to do this is described in the previous post).

Requesting a Read Receipt is also handy if you want to make sure that someone has read the PM you sent them... though it doesn't tell you when they receive it, only when they actually read it.
