Ranloth -> RE: 5 Focus All Around? (3/15/2013 15:19:42)

Look at it in this way: if you go Dex or Tech build, you're likely to rely on skills that improve with it therefore your build is also binded to the Energy available. Those without Reroute or good SC will suffer on it because Generator won't cut. BloodLust allows to go around it but you will rely on damage instead. Meanwhile, Strength and Support offer damage every turn or ever 3 turns, coming from weapons and skills alike so you don't have to rely on Energy as much. Lastly comes a mix of both which is usually Focus 5 build, where you can go tank-lean or offensive-lean (tank = Dex/Tech, offensive = Str/Support) whilst having Bot to deal decent damage on top of it. Yes, variety is 'limited' but not really. Some builds just won't work if you focus on, say, two stats such as Dex and Support because you're likely gonna need Energy to use skills. Aux alone (Support) won't give you good damage in battle so you need another source of damage. And as I've said, those with Reroute will find it easier with Dex/Tech builds that don't rely on weapon damage as much. Those without can do so but they have to find some balance between offence and defence so they won't suffer. Overall, it's the same as it was before. Whilst everyone may be Focus 5, that doesn't mean they use the same builds and items. There are cores that make it different, variety of Bots depending on one's strategy (Mercs may find Assault Bot the best one, or maybe Bio Borg. Who knows.) whilst others may want pure damage (BHs and BMs may due to BloodLust giving HP back). Treat Focus 5 as 'jack of all trades, master of nothing' build, because that's what they are. They are balanced in every area but don't necessarily specialise in it (such as Support/Strength or Dex/Tech builds; focusing on 2 stats mainly).
