The Astral Fury -> C'mon Dev's We Know We Love You! (3/16/2013 20:54:24)

Now I know we give the dev's a hard time for, delays, balance issue's, bugs, features, varuim pricing, varuim nerfs, enchanment removals, but we all know we love this game to pieces and we love the dev's for making it.

The point of this thread?

Discuss you history with ED, when you started the game, all the good and bad times throughout your time playing, tell us what you love about this game or loved in the past and don't forget at the end of your comment say a great big thank you Dev's for working hard on ED and bringing you this amazing game.

Thank you Dev's! [:D]

Discuss you history with ED, when you started the game-

When I first started playing EpicDuel, I was level 1, of course. EpicDuel was a "new experience". I first chose a Bounty Hunter and bought the Beta pack before I was even level 12 (that means I had the level 12 Beta weapons before I could use them). I bought into EpicDuel for a few reasons:

-it had and still does have potential. So much potential because it reminded me of either extremely entertaining games or plainly, successful games

-a firmer grasp of realism. As I grew up I dismissed absolute ways of thinking, like thinking a woman was made out of a man's rib and that praying was going to improve my life. No offence to anyone, but I wished to be more open minded and considerate of common sense. The closer-to-physics atmosphere of EpicDuel pleased my attitude for learning than did other games like magic games (no offence to WoW players)

EpicDuel reminded me of other turn-based strategy games that I was enthralled with, like Worms, Pocket Tanks, Arcanists, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, etc etc. When I first started, I was utterly confused with skills like Smokescreen or Massacre. But in a good way, because I was ignorant, but wished to understand this game better. And I did, with gratitude to time, the wiki, and it's caretakers (WhiteTiger). When I was a stranger to EpicDuel, everything was exciting. I played for 6+ hours at a time on weekdays AFTER SCHOOL. That is about all of my time. Combinations of skills were experimental, glory and rage were both present. The one repeating principle was that everything was slowly being unveiled, discovering EpicDuel. Those were the most exciting moments of my playtime. I tried everything at least once. Over my total time, I changed names more than 10 times, classes over 50, played with every skill that has been released up to the last time I played, beat every NPC as well, changed looks probably over 100 times, met some great friends and some that have passed on, been in only a few factions but enjoyed my time with those who spoke with me, bought nearly every promo that I saw while playing, beat every trophy NPC there was... but now it feels like I am a senior. I have become a critic of this game, but not a derogatory critic at all. Not to sound arrogant and call myself an expert, but it intuitively feels like I have been into every corner of this game and learned just about everything there is to learn.

Unless a release bringing never-before-seen content emerges, there is nothing more to me that is new or to be discovered. Everything in EpicDuel is naturally understood by me, and any new additions feel like a walk in the park. I am no longer challenged by what EpicDuel contests with me. Though, it is not like EpicDuel is boring to me. I still find great possibilities it could bring. I am simply end-game and am dormant... waiting for something new. When I levelled up to 30, I was thrilled, the peak of excitement. After levelling was finished with, I found no real goals to follow besides experimenting with PVP like I would today. Every enemy is never a challenge but a test subject. I lack the thrill of competing because there is no sentiment of growing as a character. Whenever I "grind" in EpicDuel I do it to improve. The other issue was the fading of the excitement of "variety" in skills. Our skill trees have not been expanded on for 2 years, and the skill cores are reminiscent of basing logic, even new cores sadly. But I intuitively know, that at the core, over time EpicDuel can be purged and recreated as something new. A new experience for any and everyone.

So I thank you developers for the privilege to play EpicDuel and grow with it and everyone involved, and how oh so exciting my first moments were. Thank you for that just-made feel I initially received.

At first I was a lvl 1 tech mage. Here's the funny story: When I should lvl up, at that time I dont know how to lvl up in epicduel. SO I make another account which is a bounty hunter. Then I know to lvl up. At that time was beta, so its pretty fun. Att that time too, my win sucks. Until mid delta came. I bought the bionic battle gear set. With that set, I choose to class change to a Ch which is really wonderful and fun to use.Unfortunately I was scammed, even though I lose the bionic bot, I still has the weapon. Then I play like normal, at that time I use a dex/str build if Im not mistaken. Then I also see Delta knight, which at that time I bought. it got pretty nice stat and special.

Before the end of Delta, there is really a exciting even for me: The infernal war. At that time, I choose to help Exile. I bought some bombs and fight the vault. Finally when the final vault came, I use all of my power and I beat it even though it has a Million health. Then I see Baelius hologram or something and I got the infernal Android which I sold because I has Omega yeti and baby yeti now.

At almost the end of Delta, I see the Omega Preorder package. I buy it of course, its a pretty good deal. Then I'm so excited when Omega came. It got nice feature such as stat editor(which is the overhaul of enchantments), skill cores and other things. My first skill core in Omega is the Omega override and its passive. I had pretty fun using it and even more fun when the buff for my delta knight and my Omega weapon came. I try using it hoping for a high enemy support and delta knight special would trigger and I would use my Obliterator special. It was really fun to use since it reduce opponent highest stat by 30% plus my delta knight special. There is also one thing that I hate in Omega: my faction. At that time, I join The Catalystic Stranger. A few days later, I was kicked with no reason. Then I join King Helios legion faction which is the Crossed Swords. I had really fun in this faction even though its legion.

Developers of Epicduel, words cannot say this awesomeness of Epicduel. Once again thanks for making this great game!

Exyo -> RE: C'mon Dev's We Know We Love You! (3/16/2013 23:40:52)

Well for me, it all started back in February 2009, I made my first EpicDuel character. He was a Mercenary of the name captiandeath. Back then this game was super fun and amazing for those who were not there to experience it. Mercenaries had a skill called "Iron Skin" the equivalent of TLM's Mineral Armor. Back then this game was actually balanced, all classes could win no matter what, granted Mercs were overpowered when we figured out the overused Tank Build. But it was fun, the 1v1 leader was JollyGreenGiant, he was on top with like 360 1v1 wins, which back then, was alot. The level cap I believe when I joined was 20. Then it jumped to 23, and a month later to 25.

This is when the real fun started, OP SuperCharge builds. Oh my god I remember the days, someone with a Apprentice Staff and some sidearm could wipe anyone. This infamous build was created by Chaos1x, he was my first EpicDuel friend. Me and him started off by boosting with each other and getting free wins off each other, which back then wasn't against the rules and was very easy to complete. They had a small button that said "Run Away" exiting from the match. anyways, back to the build. Max super charge with reroute and health boosters, I could easily do 90-130 damage with SuperCharge. This got nerfed within like 3 weeks but still, this was the most OP thing ever in Epic Duel history. Eventually we all got the message about the merge with AE (Artix Entertainment) and a lot of us were sorely disappointed (and some still are). But the thing we flipped about, was the banish of EpicDuel forums. The forums were the good 'ol days, the wondrous flame wars and amazing Mods.

After the merge happened, all of us original EpicDuel players got weapons call "Alpha", for being the first players to test EpicDuel, and right before the merge, we were offered to make a One-Time payment to last us forever and told that something big was coming. All excited, we bout it and got Elite status, giving us free Founder/Beta items and unlimited varium for about 1 week. After the unlimited went away, we were very confused and wanted a refund, the Devs screwed us over and only gave us 1k varium, lasting for about 2 items. Nevertheless, EpicDuel still found someway into my wallet so I bought varium. When the first Promotional Weapons were released, I believe they were the Bunnies (Bunny Zookas). Back then, promotional items only cost like 20$ in varium package compared to now 10k or $49.95. So I bought those, they were the best upgrade ever, 2 Auxillaries at level 25 and level 30 for only 20$, amazing. Not to mention they look amazing. So that went by and then Winter arrived, oh the first winter, more money left my pocket. And why? Because of the best looking weapon in game.... did you guess? Frostbane! This weapon probably made more money than any other weapons, or more purchases at least. I bought it the day it came out, the skull with frost along the light perfect blue blade, man I love it still to this day.

After Winter, came the release of my personal favorite testing phase, Gamma. I loved Gamma because of the class changes and bots, oh sweet Gamma Bot.During this phase, 5 focus ruled everything, specifically Mercenary. I believe as a Mercenary in Gamma, my win/loss ratio was 96%, which is ridiculous, considering my Omega W/L is like 60%. The Gamma upgrade package came with a Gamma Bot, and a Gamma Bike, which both look amazing. This was the beginning of a great EpicDuel, then Gamma was coming to a close. I got busy with sports and decided to quit, allowing me to miss Delta. I don't know really anything about Delta, but I'm sure t was better than Omega.

Omega. Sweet, Sweet Omega. Why so many nerfs? I come back from a nice, long 2-year break to this? I am so dissapointed ED has come to this, I understand they are making ore money, but really? This is what EpicDuel has turned into? I really wish I had a time-machine to go back to Beta and Gamma. Omega is about nothing but nerfs and OP and losing because of luck. the luck in this game is so imbalanced, in Alpha/Beta/Gamma you actually need strategy or skill to win. Now it's based off %'s and cores, just terrible, yet I still fell into the ED trap and already spent like 140$ since I have been back. But I do know this, the way EpicDuel is going, I do not see myself playing very often or much longer anyways.

And that my fellow forumers, was my EpicDuel timeline.

RageSoul -> RE: C'mon Dev's We Know We Love You! (3/17/2013 2:00:43)

When i started playing at the time of Gamma phase where Frostbane returned , i was a Tech Mage ( yeah , slim-slick stick people FTW ! ) . Then i started making multiple Master Accounts and try the other 2 classes , and man i had fun , especially with the Mercenary class . I find balance to be at presence that time but the only problem was the gear balance , so there are times i lose more often . But you know what ? The phase where i grew up as a player was actually worth missing because that was the time everyone has a choice of going into builds . And also , the old Hybrid Armor was fun and strategical for Mercs back then yet not OPed at the same time .

To make the story short , my beginnings were just as fun as the others .

Most Memorable Fight :

* BH : When i was about to die with one Plasma Bolt , and i was 1 turn delayed , i used an EMP to the lower leveled TM , and got my win .

Wind -> RE: C'mon Dev's We Know We Love You! (3/17/2013 8:19:15)

Well this is a good topic to definitely express your gratitude to the staff members of ED for making the game what it is today; there is already a topic for which you can use to "Discuss you history with ED, when you started the game" over here ---> =ED= Ultimate Nostalgia Thread<--- in this thread.

So without further ado, I will lock this thread up now. Feel free to re-post your long history in the Stickied, topic thread link above!

Whooooosh! Locked by the Wind
