Code the system by making characters gaining a loss ONLY by reaching 0 health.

That is one of the greatest suggestions I've seen but (big fat one) what if people are deliberately disconnect to spare their losses? I mean, you can pull out your wire that connects you to the Internet and what will happen next? It won't count!

I'm sure someone like SOuL Prisnor will take advantage just so he keeps his win ratio.[;)]

There is a difference between a disconnection and leaving matches. If I leave a match, I'd simply click close on my browser and poof I'm gone but you instantly vanish. When it's a disconnection, you lag and you cannot speak because there is no connection. If this happens in a 2v2, all players will notice the match is freezing but they can talk while the one about to be disconnected won't talk since his connection got cut.

@King FrostLich,
What if you disconnect by yourself plugging out the wire that connects you to the Internet? I've tried this a lot in Delta and there's always a "Connection Lost" appearing. (Using another account)
That is different to closing your browser/ tab.

If I disconnect my wire, the same thing happens, the screen lags till you're out.
