King FrostLich -> Rage Buff or Rework? (4/1/2013 0:45:47)

Unlike criticals, rage happens depending on the amount of turns you've used to hit your opponent, therfore filling the meter faster. However, I'm not satisfied now that it is equal to dealing the same damage as a critical so what I'm suggesting/balancing is this:

Buff: Ignores 55% of enemy's defense/resistance
Rework: Deal 120% -133% damage to your opponent.

Both are different because the buff is based on the enemy's defenses while the rework is based on the power of your weapon/bot used.

Hey Frostlich!

I agree.

With the battles today, it sometimes seems like Criticals are better than Rages and, sometimes, even the other way around! This makes the definitions of the two great attacks really confusing.

I AGREE...

Not supported. If the only reason given is that criticals are currently equal -or better- than rage, then nerf crits. Perhaps to a 30% def/res ignore or something. In the current game, there's too much damage and not enough HP to take it. Buffing up rage will only encourage hyperoffensive builds and make the first turn even more critical to winning.

^First off, rage happens as long as you hit your opponent several times as you can compared to crits which a random luck factor. Second, getting first turn doesn't always guarantee going on the offensive against your opponent. The point of buffing/reworking rage is to at least strengthen its purpose than act the same way as a critical hit.

Mother1 -> RE: Rage Buff or Rework? (4/1/2013 11:10:19)

@ king

for as long as I have been playing rage was always weaker then crits by 5% since a crit ignored 50% of defenses (unless you had the war weapon which increased this) and rare ignored 45% and passive defenses (Mineral plasma and hybrid armor)

Plus Rage does have a difference which is it as I said ignores passive armors where as crits don't. There is your difference.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Rage Buff or Rework? (4/1/2013 11:24:13)

@king

Its purpose doesn't need to be 'strengthened'. Rage does its thing very well. Criticals do their thing too well. Functionally, rage and crits are very similar, it's how you achieve them that differs. So unless you want to completely revamp the rage/crit system, I prefer a crit nerf to a rage buff because of the aforementioned and currently uncontested premise that there is too much damage and too little HP in the current metagame.

@above: Buffing health is another option.

Midnightsoul -> RE: Rage Buff or Rework? (4/5/2013 19:23:17)

Rage also needs to be more effected by how hard you get hit. This will make sure efficient damage has a consequence too.

@ midnightsoul

You mean like fatigue?
