drekon -> New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 16:16:40)

With this new class, you'll be able to mimic your opponent's skills whether they're good or bad. Here's how it works.

- Players can opt to change to the Shadow Mime class, but they MUST have a Mutating weapon in their inventory.
- Players will allocate their Skill Points just like we currently do. With the exception that their skills are blank...or have a shadow figure icon in grayscale.
- At the start of each battle, the shadow skills will be replaced by an exact copy of their opponent's skill, but at the level of the original shadow skill.
Example: Let's say I allocated 5 Skill Points to the top-right skill on the Skill Tree. If I battle a Mercenary this skill will be replaced with a level 5 Hybrid Armor. If the opponent is a Tech Mage, the skill is replaced with a level 5 Plasma Bolt. If Bounty Hunter, I'd get a level 5 Smoke. Etc.
- The primary also changes type based on the class your are currently mimicking. That's why mutating weapons are required.
- Attribute Points must be allocated to a 4 Focus (40 each) minimum to anticipate for most skill requirements.
- For 2v2, you would mimic a random opponent's skills.
- If both/all players in the battle are using this class, then each will mimic a randomly selected class. Same for NPC/Boss battles.
- (Optional) I suppose there could also be Shadow Mime Skill Cores, not exclusive to the class, that would mimic the opponent's skill cores on each equipment. If the opponent has no skill core, a random one will be selected.

This is primarily to give players a more dynamic dueling experience. Who's up for the challenge?

Cookielord12 -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 16:20:01)

Interesting idea, but would there not be people who make really bad builds, so that the opposition SM has a bad build?

That would just add lots of players with bad builds, ruining 2v2.

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 16:27:09)

@Cookielord12, it's not mimicking builds, only skills. The level of each skill is based entirely on the user's initial setup. If a player has a level 1 Plasma Bolt, the SM user would still have a level 5 Plasma Bolt as outlined in the OP.

Cookielord12 -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 17:02:32)

Ok, then the players can make bad skill trees? e.g. Player can put 10 into Adrenaline/Atom Smasher, but the SM aims for high Massacre/Supercharge, ruining builds as Adrenaline and Atom smasher are not useful at L10 or not worth 10 skill points.

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 17:12:47)

O.o The SM players? I suppose they could waste their varium/credits changing classes for the sole purpose of making bad skill trees in the hopes of ruining 2v2. But why do that when they can stick to one of the base classes and ruin 2v2 as they currently do so efficiently?

AssassinOrd3r -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:10:32)

like the idea a lot but i am hoping they add new classes like they did in delta and shadow mime sounds like it could be interesting this is solely my opinion

AQWorldsFarmer -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:28:10)

Would if 2 of them fight each other?

DarkSnow1337 -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:31:37)

@AQWorldsFarmer That's exactly what I was wondering, but a few modifications and extra ideas for this class, I might support the idea.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:35:45)

It doesn't have to be a class like the current 6 permanent classes we have now. It could be a temporary class, accessible via a one-time event and purchasable by varium as a permanently accessible option, like a certain piece of clothing in your wardrobe. It's too UP to be one of the main permanent classes.

DarkSnow1337 -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:39:38)

@SilverSkyMagician Do you mean to over powered? I don't think it's to over powered, I mean you are using the same exact skills as your enemy.

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 18:43:53)

@AQWorldsFarmer, that was already addressed in the OP.

ReconnaisX -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 20:38:51)

This is a pretty good idea. I don't know how it would sound in practice, though. ED needs some sort of test server for stuff like this.

Sipping Cider -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 21:09:33)

Now this would definitely shake things up. I would play this class for something fun and exciting each match, having to switch my strategy each game rather than doing the same old same old. As an improvement, maybe it would make more sense if it were a battle mode were you just get random ability points for each slot and a random class each battle? Or were you specifically thinking of it being a class so you can have some control over how many ability points go into each slot.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 21:56:16)

This looks like a pretty fun class. I suggest just making the name a little more catchy though [;)]

Stabilis -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 22:10:20)

ReconnaisX,

I always thought EpicDuel lacked a testing server, but Titan has the "developer" server used for testing with other staff at their location at AE.

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 23:00:19)

@Sipping Cider, I was thinking of it being a class, but I like your idea too.

@Noobernaut Fusion, I kinda agree. I was thinking of something that mimics and mimes just popped in my head so I rolled with it. Haha!

ReconnaisX -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 23:30:42)

@Depressed Void
Yes, we need something like that, except that it would be open to the public and maybe there would be a restriction to keep most players out (how AQW's PTR server is limited to members).

@drekon
Mirror something? I was thinking of mirror because of how this class "mirrors" or "copies" your enemy. I thought of Mirror Fiend or Mirror Beast for a second, except that sounds un-human.

King Helios -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/2/2013 23:51:59)

Glass Cannon.

Mirror = glass.

[:D]

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/3/2013 0:40:03)

@ReconnaisX, idk the Shadow part gives it a feeling of "unknown" or something that again mimics you but is not quite like you. Fiend has a nice ring to it though. *pulls hair out* Idk anymore! Argh! ^_^

EpicIsEpic -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/3/2013 2:18:36)

Supported because we need something new. Something interesting to play as.

aurther13th -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/3/2013 16:58:07)

supported. a new class would be awesome.

only problem i can think of is lets say SM has 8 points on S.S slot for tlm, bottom left. if he faces a player with no points on their bottom left would it still just take that skill? ex. BH would be shadow arts? or just give no points.

drekon -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/3/2013 19:21:57)

@aurther13th, yes they would still have the level 8 skill regardless if the opponent has points on his or not.

EpicIsEpic -> RE: New Class: Shadow Mime (4/13/2013 6:12:13)

Now that i think about it the class would be very difficult to play because all skills aren't equal. E.g. if i play vs a bm i need blood lust(obv) If i play tm (reroute) if i play vs merc (passive armor) I support but they would allways have disadvantage in battle. (Unless you get more skillpoints and can't go above e.g. lvl 7).
