A "New Uploads" Folder would be problematic given how our forum handles avatar uploads. It would either require double-uploading of new avatars to both the "New Upload" folder and to their correct folders, or uploading avatars to a "New Uploads" folder and then re-uploading them after they aren't considered new anymore. Both require a duplication of effort (the second more then the first) which I'd prefer to avoid... it's not bad in a week when I only get a handful of avatars submitted, but doing that when new content comes out and I have 50 avatars to sort and upload becomes time consuming.
Also, when avatars get uploaded to our forums they get assigned file names based in part on folder location. So once the avatars in a "New upload" folder are not new and either get added to their correct folder or deleted (depending on which of the two methods above I used) it would break the avatars of anyone using the "New Uploads" version of the avatar, so they'd have to go re-choose their avatars.
It's not a terrible idea to somehow identify newly uploaded avatars, though... I'm now considering the logistics of putting together a "New This Week (or whatever)" thread to list recently uploaded avatars. I just have to work out the best way to do that and a couple other minor issues.
