Looking at the fact mages already get reroute having assimilation on top of that seems kind of overkill considering the fact it still steals/gives the same amount of energy even when blocked. Now I don't think it should be removed just make it steal/give a mere 1-3 energy on blocks so its more on par with similar moves like static charge. That's my suggestion but would rather here your thoughts on the idea is all, no need for flaming anyone over opinions. Discuss.

Then EMP Grenade will be the top of the drainers without a counter :P

Its also the fact that Assimilation is not just a drainer but a receiver and doesn't have an energy cost unlike things like EMP Grenade or Atom Smasher.
As well like I said its combined with reroute which is a constant means of energy already, and with mages ability to super power moves with low energy costs and super tanked up its simply over powered. I think that just making it reduced on 'blocks' is a small change to add some descent balance...its still their and its not any less effective normally.

What about mages that aren't casters and use the move as just that an energy drainer and not a gainer? I can speak for myself since Assimilation for me is just an energy drainer. Plus reroute even with it's strength's has it's faults as well. If an opponent can afford to do it they will skip just so they don't give you the energy you need to do a heal, Plasma bolt etc. I have fought many of these kinds of players and while I use assimilation for drains more Sometimes this move save me for a few more turns.

Atom smasher is just a drainer but has the ability to be blocked completely so why is it so bad that assimilation is simply reduced in amount?
And as a gainer static charge can be blocked for a 1 point gain is all while assimilation still gets the best of both at the same time while no chance of even reducing it.

So it gains and drains at the same time no matter which reason your using it for and its a guarantee unlike other similar half as powerful skills, not to mention its gain is better than static charge almost always. This is why I don't see the problem with a simple reduction if its 'blocked'....im not saying to change the amounts to 0 or to remove the skill or change its outcome on landed blows.

Atom cannot be blocked completely. 15% of the effect will still go through. And it improves with Strength + weapon damage whilst Assimilation stays fixed and gains +1 EP per 9 Strength invested.

you do realize, if you have 3 possible ways of gaining energy, and you still fail to do so, you just end up looking pathetic. you have assimilation, you have a regen core, you have reroute. if really all otf these fail, then you deserve to lose. we dont want to cut off assimilation, just bump down its HUGE advantage
