Why are some players so "lucky"?

Sorry guys, but the fact is, they aren't lucky. Luck is an illusionary phenomenon attributed to an unlikely occurence happening in a persons favour. If someone blocks you once, that may be considered luck; however, if someone blocks/deflects/crits repeatedly on you every time you verse them, IT IS BECAUSE OF THEIR BUILD.

A persons chance of blocking, criting, and deflecting is determined by certain skills, and with a few adjustments you can be just as "lucky" as they are.

How can I become more "lucky"?

Blocking -If you want to increase how often you block, increase your dexterity, and increase your shadow arts skill level.

Deflecting - If you want to deflect more often, increase your technology.

Criting - If you want a higher chance to crit, increase your support.

Remember the chance of you doing any/all 3 of these can be increased through adding cores to items. You can also reduce the chance of your opponent doing any/all 3 of these to you by adding different cores to your items.

This was just posted on the Q& A section. It's called spam (I think).

quote:

Let me tell you one thing, having a high amount of Dexterity or any other stat doesn't always mean you'll get lucky. It increases your chance to do what that specific stat is based for.
quote:

...is determined by certain skills
This is close to false. Skills don't change whether you are higher on luck or not all the time. Only Shadow Arts affects your block chance.

This is another thing which is close to being false. If I have base Support, I can end up going 10+ Criticals in a row. Why? Because of luck and probability. Even if your chance to do/get something is low, you can still succeed in what you're trying to do.

Malicious, are you implying that all blocks, crits, and deflections are the result of "luck", and there is no point in increasing the stats that correlate to them?

Scyze -> RE: Lucky players (5/10/2013 4:19:45)

Yes, it's actually true. The whole thing results int eh fact that luck is the key factor that affects what happens. When you invest more stat, it increases the chance of whatever thing to happen.
So, I can have all out Strength build and I can block, deflect and do critical damages as much as a person with maxed out Dexterity, Support or Technology.

I think you're still young or that your school hasn't covered the topic of probability yet.

Baron Dante -> RE: Lucky players (5/10/2013 4:29:46)

While it's true it CAN happen, the likelihood of it decreases.

And the logic here actually relatively correct. One cannot affect luck, but they can affect the EFFECT luck has on them. This is why I say that "luck is a skill". It is.

Thesoulweaver -> RE: Lucky players (5/10/2013 4:48:15)

Probability =/= Luck (Tho They are close)

Probability is a branch of science (Tho the most imprecise, due to luck) that deals with finding out all the possible outcomes of one event or the probability/chance of a certain event happening. Luck is an arbitrary concept that defies logic. Therefore, Luck is what dictates the outcome of the event. Probablity is not luck.

Luck comes in when you block/crit/Deflect several times even when your chance is very slim (2%,3%)m. While probability dictates that it can happen, it shouldn't reoccur with that intensity. That is luck, since it defies logic.

That pretty much sums luck in ED. You should have some backup even if you get Blocked/Crit/Deflected in a row.

You culd build yourself to reverse luck(lucky strike on prrimary, aim assist and laser sign for ranged weps, nanosteel on armor), but in my opinion the best way is to be more "lucky" than your opponents with stats and luck-cores.
